Introduction: Tubulointerstitial nephritis (TIN) and uveitis (TINU) syndrome is a rare disease. The renal prognosis is generally thought to be better in children with TINU syndrome than in adults. However, data are scarce.

Background And Purpose: Endovascular embolization of intracranial aneurysms with hydrogel-coated coils lowers the risk of major recurrence, but technical limitations (coil stiffness and time restriction for placement) have prevented their wider clinical use. We aimed to assess the efficacy of softer, second-generation hydrogel coils.
Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted at 22 centers in France and Germany.

The aim of this study was to collect data from patients who underwent liver transplantation (LT) for adenomatosis; to analyze the symptoms, the characteristics of the disease, and the recipient outcomes; and to better define the role of LT in this rare indication. This retrospective multicenter study, based on data from the European Liver Transplant Registry, encompassed patients who underwent LT for adenomatosis between January 1, 1986, and July 15, 2013, in Europe. Patients with glycogen storage disease (GSD) type IA were not excluded.

Background: Few randomized controlled trials have been published on outcomes after treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax. The objective of this study was to assess recurrence, pulmonary complications, prolonged air leak, and hospital duration of stay in patients undergoing videothoracoscopic surgery (VATS) or thoracotomy for spontaneous pneumothorax.
Methods: From January 2005 to December 2012, 7,396 patients underwent operations for spontaneous pneumothorax and were entered into the French national database.

Interference with cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators by cellular phone and electronic article surveillance systems is shown in experimental studies with disparate findings. Interaction occurrence in real life is a convincing but rare experience. Device model, distance, power output and technology of the source are different and sometimes uncontrollable factors.

Resistance to vitamin K antagonists is a rare phenomenon. In general, it is the result of poor patient compliance, malabsorption, a diet rich in vitamin K, or the use of enzyme inducers. Occasionally, the diagnosis of resistance is made when plasma levels are high.

Patients And Methods: A series of 16 consecutive cases of heart perforation observed in one cardiac pacing unit from 1989 to 1998 were reviewed.
Results: Heart perforation occurred after implantation in 9 cases; the verall incidence for all lead implantation was 0.

Objectives: Assess the efficacy of an anesthesic cream for pacemaker implantations.
Methods: Percutaneous anesthesia was studied in a series of permanent pacemaker transvenous implantations. The anesthesic cream composed of a mixture of lidocaine and prilocaine was applied precisely over operative areas after marking the skin.

Noninvasive transcutaneous cardiac pacing has evolved from a simple stand alone unit with no ventricular sensing to a complete cardiac arrest resuscitation system combining synchronous pacing and defibrillation capabilities and using a single set of multifunction electrodes. In current instrumentation, four configurations exist including stand alone unit, modular configuration, built-in monitor and recorder, and built-in monitor, recorder and defibrillator. In present day devices, ventricular sensing, extensive programmability, and large surface electrodes are general features.
