Background: Same-day discharge (SDD) has been adopted for interventional cardiology procedures, however, data on patient experience are scarce.
Aims: To investigate patient-reported experience after various SDD electrophysiology procedures.
Methods: Consecutive patients undergoing electrophysiology procedures, who fulfilled pre-defined eligibility criteria for SDD, completed the questionnaire before discharge.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex, chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system, where immune dysregulation plays a critical role. We sought to explore the modulation of the pro-inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFɑ) and TNF-like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK), along with their respective autoantibodies, TNAb and TWAb, and to decipher potential associations between these and clinical characteristics which could assist personalized therapy in MS. We also assessed the complementarity to leading candidate biomarkers in MS patient monitoring, namely, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and neurofilament light chain (NfL).

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the primary cause of ischaemic stroke and transient ischaemic attack (TIA). AF is associated with a high risk of recurrence, which can be reduced using optimal prevention strategies, mainly anticoagulant therapy. The availability of effective prophylaxis justifies the need for a significant, coordinated and thorough transdisciplinary effort to screen for AF associated with stroke.

Background: Despite scarce data, invasive mechanical ventilation (MV) is widely suggested as first-line ventilatory support in cardiogenic shock (CS) patients. We assessed the real-life use of different ventilation strategies in CS and their influence on short and mid-term prognosis.
Methods: FRENSHOCK was a prospective registry including 772 CS patients from 49 centers in France.

Mexiletine (NaMuscla™) is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of myotonia in adults with non-dystrophic myotonia. A cardiac assessment is required as mexiletine may have a pro-arrhythmic effect. Long-term safety data supporting the use of mexiletine in patients with non-dystrophic myotonia combined with the extensive clinical experience of an expert group resulted in creation of an algorithm for cardiac monitoring of patients treated with mexiletine.

Heart rhythm management is a continuously evolving sub-speciality of cardiology. Every year, many physicians and allied professionals (APs) start and complete their training in cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) or electrophysiology (EP) across the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) member countries. While this training ideally ends with an EHRA certification, the description of the learning pathway (what, how, when, and where) through an EHRA core curriculum is also a prerequisite for a successful training.

Objective: Pain in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders remains underdiagnosed due to their inherent communication difficulties. The goal of this review is to identify the most suitable methods for assessing pain in this population and for evaluating the specific perceptions of, or behavioural reactions to, pain whilst considering disorder severity and specifiers (with or without accompanying intellectual impairment, with or without accompanying language impairment).
Method: A systematic review and analysis of the international literature was conducted.

Perinatal psychiatry is now defined in the French Public Health Code as joint parent-baby care. It focuses on parent-baby interactions, the baby's development and the parents' psychological health. "Mobile teams" for joint (parent-baby) care, the very first of which date back to the 1990s, have been developed modestly thanks to the call for perinatal psychiatry projects in 2021 and those for child and adolescent psychiatry since 2019.

Hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy type 1 is an autosomal dominant neuropathy caused by the or variants. These variants modify the preferred substrate of serine palmitoyl transferase, responsible for the first step of sphingolipids synthesis, leading to accumulation of cytotoxic deoxysphingolipids. Diagnosis of HSAN1 is based on clinical symptoms, mainly progressive loss of distal sensory keep, and genetic analysis.

Background: The use of thrombectomy in patients with acute stroke and a large infarct of unrestricted size has not been well studied.
Methods: We assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, patients with proximal cerebral vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation and a large infarct (as defined by an Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomographic Score of ≤5; values range from 0 to 10) detected on magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography within 6.5 hours after symptom onset to undergo endovascular thrombectomy and receive medical care (thrombectomy group) or to receive medical care alone (control group).
