Université Lille, CNRS, Centrale Lille, UMR 9013-LaMcube-Laboratoire de Mécanique, Multiphysique, Multiéchelle, F-59000, Lille, France.

Introduction And Hypothesis: In order to improve the knowledge POP physiopathology and POP repair, a generic biomechanical model of the female pelvic system has been developed. In the literature, no study has currently evaluated apical prolapse repair by posterior sacrospinous ligament fixation using a generic model nor a patient-specific model that personalize the management of POP and predict surgical outcomes based on the patient's pre-operative Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The aim of our study was to analyze the influence of a right and/or left sacrospinous ligament fixation and the distance between the anchorage area and the ischial spine on the pelvic organ mobility using a generic and a patient-specific Finite Element model (FEM) of the female pelvic system during posterior sacrospinous ligament fixation (SSF).

Article Synopsis
  • Murepavadin is a new type of antibiotic showing promise against specific bacteria linked to cystic fibrosis (CF), with a study assessing its effectiveness on 230 CF strains from 12 hospitals in France.
  • The study found that 9.1% of these bacterial strains had high resistance to murepavadin, and whole-genome sequencing revealed multiple mutations in genes related to the bacteria's defense mechanisms.
  • Further experiments showed that changes in certain genes can significantly increase bacterial resistance to murepavadin and other common antibiotics, prompting the need for clinical studies to understand potential resistance issues.

Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS) is an established procedure for the complications of portal hypertension, such as variceal bleeding, refractory ascites and hepatic hydrothorax. We report an original case of a renal transplant patient successfully treated with TIPS for portal hypertension due to sinusoidal obstructive syndrome (SOS) induced by azathioprine (AZA). By reporting this case, we wish to draw the attention of healthcare professionals managing organ transplant patients, especially nephrologists, to the possible occurrence of liver toxicity due to AZA, and to emphasize the role of TIPS as an effective therapeutic option for portal hypertension-related complications.

A post hoc analysis of the Diabeloop WP7 multicentre, randomized controlled trial was performed to investigate the efficacy of the Diabeloop Generation-1 (DBLG1) closed-loop system in controlling the hypoglycaemia induced by physical activity (PA) in real-life conditions. Glycaemic outcomes were compared between days with and without PA in 56 patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) using DBLG1 for 12 weeks. After the patient announces a PA, DBLG1 reduces insulin delivery and, if necessary, calculates the amount of preventive carbohydrates (CHO).

[Acute pulmonary embolism in the emergency department: What do the guidelines say?].

Presse Med

September 2018

Centre hospitalier universitaire Jean-Minjoz, service de cardiologie, pôle cœur-poumon, boulevard Fleming, 25000 Besançon, France. Electronic address:

The therapeutic strategy of acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is based on risk stratification of early mortality in the emergency department. Anticoagulant therapy should be given to all PE patients as early as possible, and direct oral anticoagulants are expected to replace vitamin K antagonists in the majority of cases. The use of a reperfusion strategy should always be considered in patients with high-risk PE defined as PE with clinical hemodynamic instability.
