A tamponade leading to death after radiofrequency ablation of hepatocellular carcinoma.

A case of hemorrhagic cardiac tamponade after radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) leading to death is presented. The complication occurred during a procedure performed under general anesthesia with an expandable needle system for a 2-cm HCC sited in the second segment of the liver close to the diaphragm. Thermal damage to the organs surrounding the liver are major complications of liver tumor RFA.

[Treatment of hepatitis C virus infection in the Poitou- Charentes region].

Objectives: The prognosis of hepatitis C virus infection could be improved by early treatment. However, this is only possible if most patients with hepatitis C consult a specialized institution. The aim of this study was to evaluate the modalities of care of hepatitis C virus infection in one French district.

[Dacryocystorhinostomy using Nd YAG laser by the intracanicular approach].

Endocanalicular dacryocystorhinostomy is a recent surgical procedure for stenosis of the naso-lacrymal duct, thanks to a laser filter fitted into the heart of 800 mu diameter metallic pin constituting a rigid armed laser probe. We create a lacrymo-nasal orifice from inside the lacrymal bag towards the nose, using the laser fiber. The Nd YAG used is the solid state mobilisable Ophtalas sp 32 giving out infrareds at 1064 nm or green at 532 nm.
