[Effects of corticosteroids on adults with tuberculous meningitis admitted to intensive care unit: a propensity score analysis].

Introduction: The beneficial effect of corticosteroids has been well established, particularly in patients free of infection with the human immunodeficiency virus. In intensive care units, the high risks of infection to which patients are exposed specifically could offset the neurological benefit of corticosteroids. The purpose of the study was to assess the effects of corticosteroids in adult patients with tuberculous meningitis admitted to intensive care unit.

[Duodenal leiomyosarcoma revealed by gastrointestinal hemorrhage].

Introduction: Leiomyosarcomas account for approximately 75% of all gastrointestinal sarcomas but only 8-10% of duodenal malignancies. Pain and bleeding are the principal symptoms. Prognosis of these tumors is difficult to assess.

Bilateral facial squamous cell carcinoma in an 18-month-old girl with xeroderma pigmentosum.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the skin usually occurs in older patients and commonly develops from actinic keratosis. Patients with xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) are highly sensitive to ultraviolet radiation and prone to develop multiple skin malignancies and can acquire SCC at an early age. We report an 18-month-old girl with XP who presented clinically because of a bilateral facial skin mass that was biopsied and found to be SCC.

[Traumatic thrombosis of the inferior vena cava].

Traumatic thrombosis of vena cava is rare. Thrombosis of the inferior vena cava diagnosed by uroscanner after blunt abdominal trauma involving the kidney is reported. The Doppler exam confirmed the floating character of the clot.

[Epithelioid malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor. A case report].

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST) are exceptional and painful. The typical localization along a peripheral nerve is not always present. Prognosis is very poor.

[Cystic adenoid carcinoma of the trachea].

Cystic adenoid carcinoma (CAC) of the trachea, also called cylindroma, is a rare malignant tumor accounting for 1 per thousand of all respiratory tract cancers. We report three cases of cylindroma in patients hospitalized for inspiratory dyspnea due to a tracheal tumor. Bronchoscopy using a rigid tube revealed a smooth tumor of the trachea.

[Vaginoplasty with sigmoid graft: report of 3 cases].

We report our experience with treating the vaginal aplasia by vaginoplasty used sigmoid graft in about three cases. Two patients presented with the Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome and one a gender reassignment for intersex. Anatomic and functional results were satisfactory with no vagina stenosis.

[Bladder paraganglioma (pheochromocytoma): report of a new case].

The authors report one case of vesical paraganglioma, not suspected in a 50-years-old female patient who presented gross hematuria as only symptom. The patient was not hypertensive. Radiologic and endoscopic investigations revealed a trigonal submucosal tumour.

[Vesico-vaginal fistula: report of 1050 cases].

The authors reports their experience of a large series of 1050 cases of vesico-vaginal fistulas recorded during 30 years and analyse their epidemiological, anatomo-clinical, and therapeutic aspects. Patients could be classified as a function of site of fistula into 3 types, according to the Benchekroun's classification: type I ureto-vaginal fistula (30%); type II cervico-vaginal fistula (22%); type III vesico-vaginal fistula (48%). Etiology was mainly obstetrical (93%).

[Role of laparoscopy in intra-abdominal testes in children. 35 case reports].

The impalpable testicles account for approximately 10 to 20% of the total of the not descended testicles. The importance of laparoscopy is increasingly significant, because apart from its diagnostic role recently a therapeutic interest was added. Thirty-five nonpalpable testicles took advantage of laparoscopic exploration at the pediatric's emergency surgery ward at the children's hospital of Rabat within the last 2 years.

[Urethral diverticulum in men following ureteroplasty: four case reports].

The author reports a serie of 4 cases of male urethral diverticulum. All cases were acquired origin. They are complication of urethroplasty.

[Inflammatory pseudotumor of the bladder: a new case report].

Inflammatory pseudotumor is a reactive benign lesion which can be very difficult to distinguish from some malignant bladder tumors like sarcomas or sarcomatoid carcinoma. Inflammatory pseudotumour (IPT) of the urinary bladder is a benign proliferate lesion which can simulate clinically and histologically a sarcoma. A case of an inflammatory pseudotumor of the urinary bladder in a 18-years-old man is presented.

[Malignant adrenocortical tumour with inferior vena cava invasion].

Carcinoma of the adrenal cortex is a rare tumour. The incidence of vena cava involvement may be present in 15 to 20% of patients. The intra caval tumour thrombus can attain the right atrium.

[Renal hydatid cyst in children: report of 6 cases].

Echinococcosis or hydatid cyst disease of the kidney is extremely rare in children and constitutes only 2-4% of all cases of hydatid disease. We present six pediatric case of hydatid cyst of the kidney. The presentation is a cystic space occupying lesion of the kidney.

[Laryngeal dyspnea caused by cervical hydatidosis: apropos of a case].

Hydatid cysts rarely present as a cervical tumor. We report a case of hydatid cyst of the neck in a child with multiple hydatid cysts in the liver, which was revealed by laryngeal dyspnea. Symptoms occurred in a six year-old country dweller, who presented with progressive laryngeal dyspnea.

[Epithelial cyst in the superior internal angle: a case report].

Most orbital cysts in childhood are epidermoids or dermoids. We report one uncommon case of an 8-years old girl with a lacrimal orbital cyst revealed by discrete proptosis and pseudo-ptosis in which the cystic histopathological study revealed a lacrimal structure.

Vascular thrombosis remains severe complication in patients with nephrotic syndrome. Both venous and arterial thrombosis are observed. We report three new cases of arterial thrombosis in patients with nephrotic syndrome.
