Identifying the location, the spatial extent and the electrical activity of distributed brain sources in the context of epilepsy through ElectroEncephaloGraphy (EEG) recordings is a challenging task because of the highly ill-posed nature of the underlying Electrophysiological Source Imaging (ESI) problem. To guarantee a unique solution, most existing ESI methods pay more attention to solve this inverse problem by imposing physiological constraints. This paper proposes an efficient ESI approach based on simulation-driven deep learning.

September 2023

Rennes University, CHU Rennes, INSERM, Ecole des hautes études en santé publique (EHESP), Institut de recherche en santé, environnement et travail (IRSET) - UMR_S 1085, Rennes, France.

In France, most spirometries are performed by pneumologists. Spirometry is difficult to access due to the distance to medical office and long delays for appointments. This lack of accessibility contributes to the underdiagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) among patients aged between 40 and 75 years.

TIA1 variant drives myodegeneration in multisystem proteinopathy with SQSTM1 mutations.

J Clin Invest

March 2018

Folkhälsan Institute of Genetics and Department of Medical Genetics, Haartman Institute, University of Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland.

Multisystem proteinopathy (MSP) involves disturbances of stress granule (SG) dynamics and autophagic protein degradation that underlie the pathogenesis of a spectrum of degenerative diseases that affect muscle, brain, and bone. Specifically, identical mutations in the autophagic adaptor SQSTM1 can cause varied penetrance of 4 distinct phenotypes: amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia, Paget's disease of the bone, and distal myopathy. It has been hypothesized that clinical pleiotropy relates to additional genetic determinants, but thus far, evidence has been lacking.

Myocardial infarction and thrombophilia: Do not miss the right diagnosis!

Rev Port Cardiol (Engl Ed)

January 2018

Protein C deficiency is a coagulation cascade disorder often resulting in venous thromboembolic events but is also a possible contributor to arterial thrombosis. To date, approximately ten cases of myocardial infarction (MI) due to protein C deficiency have been reported in the literature. However, affirming this mechanism requires ruling out the most common causes of MI, i.

February 2018

Plateforme PEPS/ANSM, UPRES EA 7449 REPERES, Rennes, France.

Medico-administrative data like SNDS (Système National de Données de Santé) are not collected initially for epidemiological purposes. Moreover, the data model and the tools proposed to SNDS users make their in-depth exploitation difficult. We propose a data model, called the ePEPS model, based on healthcare trajectories to provide a medical view of raw data.
