Background: In lung transplant patients, direct oral anticoagulants are often taken in combination with immunosuppressive drugs such as tacrolimus. Since tacrolimus is a substrate and inhibitor of the efflux protein ABCB1, also transporting direct oral anticoagulants, a possible drug-drug interaction mediated by competition for this transporter needs to be investigated.

Objectives: To determine the effect of tacrolimus on ABCB1-mediated rivaroxaban transport in order to support clinician practice.

We aimed to assess and explore patient perspectives on continuation and discontinuation of statins used for primary cardiovascular prevention in older adults.

The Impact of Strong Inducers on Direct Oral Anticoagulant Levels.

Purpose: The concomitant use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) and strong P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) inducers may lead to reduced DOAC levels and therapeutic failure. This study aimed to describe DOAC concentrations in patients receiving strong P-gp and CYP3A4 inducers, in relation to individual risk factors for high or low DOAC levels.

Methods: We retrospectively identified hospitalized patients simultaneously receiving a DOAC and carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, or rifampicin between 2016 and 2021.

Though the ovine stifle is commonly used to study osteoarthritis, there is limited information about the age-related morphometric changes of the tidemark. The objective of this study was to document the number of tidemarks in the stifle of research sheep without clinical signs of osteoarthritis and of various ages (n = 80). Articular cartilage of the medial and lateral tibial condyles and of the medial and lateral femoral condyles was assessed by histology: (a) to count the number of tidemark; and (b) to assess the OARSI (Osteoarthritis Research Society International) score for structural changes of cartilage.

Diffusion of drugs injected into the distal interphalangeal joint or the navicular (podotrochlear) bursa can influence diagnosis and treatment of foot pain. Previous anatomical and radiographic studies of the communication between these synovial structures have produced conflicting results and did not identify the location of any communication if present. This anatomic study aimed to assess the presence and site of communication between the distal interphalangeal joint and the navicular bursa in the horse by computed tomography arthrography.

Ultrasound anatomy of the normal stifle in the sheep.

Though the ovine stifle is commonly used as a model in research, there is no description of its anatomy at ultrasonography (US). The objective of this study was to provide reference US images of the ovine stifle that are relevant in musculoskeletal research. Four pairs of hindlimbs were scanned, whilst four other pairs were frozen and cut in different planes to compare gross anatomy to US scans.
