Aims/hypothesis: Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is a life-threatening infection caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus. Diabetes has rapidly emerged as a major comorbidity for COVID-19 severity. However, the phenotypic characteristics of diabetes in COVID-19 patients are unknown.

Glucose-lowering therapies in patients with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a major risk factor for developing cardiovascular disease, and many patients with diabetes have prevalent cardiovascular complications. Recent cardiovascular outcome clinical trials suggest that certain new glucose-lowering drugs are accompanied by additional cardioprotective properties. Indeed, selected glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists have a proved cardiovascular benefit in terms of a reduced incidence of ischaemic events, while sodium/glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors have also shown significant protection, with a striking effect on heart failure and renal endpoints.

Regression of Q waves and clinical outcomes following primary PCI in anterior STEMI.

Background: Pathological Q waves are correlated with infarct size, and Q-wave regression is associated with left ventricular ejection fraction improvement. There are limited data regarding the association of Q-wave regression and clinical outcomes. Our main objective was to assess the association of pathological Q wave evolution after reperfusion with clinical outcomes after anterior STEMI.

[Heart failure provoked by a pacemaker lead-induced tricuspid stenosis].

Tricuspid stenosis (TS) is an uncommon complication of ventricular pacemaker implantation. Mechanisms described by the literature are ventricular inflow obstruction by tricuspid vegetations (endocarditis) or multiple pacemaker leads and fibrosis secondary to mechanical trauma, accounting for perforation or laceration of the TV leaflets, or adherence between redundant loops and valve tissue. We present the case of iatrogenic tricuspid stenosis, observed in a 77-year-old man.

[Nephrotic syndrome revealed by pulmonary embolism: about four cases].

Nephrotic syndrom is an association of proteinuria>3g/d or 50mg/kg/d, an hypoalbuminemia<30g/L and a hypoproteinemia<60g/L. Primary etiologies are minimal glomerular injury, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and non membranous glomerulonephritis. Secondary etiologies are diabetes, high blood pressure and amyloidosis.

[Optimization of primary aesthetic breast augmentation using implants: an evidence-based level approach].

The primary aesthetic breast augmentation has been the most performed cosmetic surgery procedure in the world for over 40 years. The current literature focuses on the new concept of "process of breast augmentation" and the importance of non-surgical part (patient selection, preoperative planning and personalized management of postoperative care) in potentiating the cosmetic results and reducing the rate of complications and reoperations. This review of literature discusses, through an analysis of scientific evidence levels, every step of the whole process of breast augmentation in order to determine the current best practices tailored to each patient to optimize satisfactory and durable cosmetic outcomes.

[Incidental finding of phaeochromocytoma during surgery: the anaesthesiologist's nightmare].

We report the case of a patient who presented hypertension paroxysmal with acute pulmonary oedema followed by cardiocirculatory arrest during gynaecological surgery for resection of latero-aortic lymph nodes suspected to be cervical cancer metastases. This intervention, originally oncologic, has discovered ectopic phaeochromocytoma a posteriori. The management of perioperative serious adverse events revealing the undiagnosed phaeochromocytoma is discussed.

[Inventory of the use of natriuretic peptides in France].

Since the introduction of routine assay for natriuretic peptides (NP), there is an increasing number of clinical applications for these assays. Due to the continuously increasing number of prescription of those tests, a reappraisal of the use of natriuretic peptide assays, namely BNP and NT-proBNP in France was necessary. This was achieved through a national survey to obtain a detailed description of NP prescription and realization by French laboratories.

[An unusual risk of liposuction: liposuction of a malignant tumor. About 2 patients].

Liposuction is a simple and elegant way to treat fatty excess; it has been even used for the treatment of lipomas and some gynecomasties. The goal of this article is to present 2 patients with an unusual complication of this use: the liposuction of a malignant tumor. The first patient consulted following the liposuction of a "gynecomasty", which was in fact a breast cancer.

[Reconstruction of facial burn sequelae].

The deep burns of the face can lead to horrible scars functionally and aesthetically. Treatment of these scars need several surgical interventions frequently and during many years. In our region we deal with this type of wounds as team work, multidisciplinary approach carrying out many process starting by emergency treatment of acute burns till the social rehabilitation.
