Aims: Patients hospitalized for acute heart failure (HF) could be enrolled in EMPULSE (NCT04157751) upon haemodynamic stabilization and between 24 h and 5 days after hospital admission. The timing of treatment initiation may influence the efficacy and safety of drugs such as empagliflozin. The aim of this study was to evaluate patient characteristics, clinical events, and treatment effects according to time from admission to randomization.

Purpose: To identify dosimetric predictive factors of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) in children after cranial radiation therapy (RT) in a single institution using dosimetric data from the French National Registry PediaRT.
Methods And Materials: Complete audiological follow-up data were available for 44 children treated with cranial RT between 2014 and 2021 at our institution. The median age at the time of RT initiation was 9 years (range: 2-17 years).

Background: Kidney dysfunction often leads to reluctance to start or continue life-saving heart failure (HF) therapy.
Objectives: This study sought to examine the efficacy and safety of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs) in patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction experiencing significant kidney dysfunction.
Methods: We pooled individual patient data from the RALES (Randomized Aldactone Evaluation Study) and EMPHASIS-HF (Eplerenone in Mild Patients Hospitalization and Survival Study in Heart Failure) trials.

Steatotic liver disease (SLD) is a worldwide public health problem, causing considerable morbidity and mortality. Patients with SLD are at increased risk for major adverse cardiovascular (CV) events, type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease. Conversely, patients with cardiometabolic conditions have a high prevalence of SLD.

Genetic cerebellar ataxias are still a diagnostic challenge, and yet not all of them have been identified. Very recently, in early 2023, a new cause of late-onset cerebellar ataxia (LOCA) was identified, spinocerebellar ataxia 27B (SCA27B). This is an autosomal dominant ataxia due to a GAA expansion in intron 1 of the FGF14 gene.

The role of IGFBP7 as a prognostic biomarker across the full ejection fraction (EF) spectrum of heart failure (HF) remains less well understood. We examined associations between IGFBP7 and risk of cardio-renal outcomes regardless of EF and the effect of empagliflozin treatment on IGFBP7 concentrations among individuals with HF.

Background: While indirect comparison of infliximab (IFX) and vedolizumab (VDZ) in adults with Crohn's disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC) shows that IFX has better effectiveness during induction, and comparable efficacy during maintenance treatment, comparative data specific to subcutaneous (SC) IFX (i.e., CT-P13 SC) versus VDZ are limited.

The Litterapsy study focuses on the assessment of health literacy in patients with psychiatric disorders, a field that has been little studied in France. It is based on the observations of an advanced practice nurse specializing in psychosocial rehabilitation. Its aim is to provide objective data to better understand how these patients understand medical information and navigate the healthcare system.

Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease known to be associated with multiple autoimmune disorders. There is a restricted number of descriptions of the association between sarcoidosis and autoimmune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (aTTP). We present the case of a 63-year-old woman admitted to the hospital to investigate a possible sarcoidosis who had hemolytic anemia and thrombocytopenia, with low ADAMTS13 activity and anti-ADAMTS13 antibodies, leading to a diagnosis of aTTP.

This study assesses the feasibility of using a sample-efficient model to investigate radiomics changes over time for predicting progression-free survival in rare diseases. Eighteen high-grade glioma patients underwent two L-3,4-dihydroxy-6-[F]-fluoro-phenylalanine positron emission tomography (PET) dynamic scans: the first during treatment and the second at temozolomide chemotherapy discontinuation. Radiomics features from static/dynamic parametric images, alongside conventional features, were extracted.

Sudden cardiac death (SCD) and ventricular fibrillation are rare but severe complications of many cardiovascular diseases and represent a major health issue worldwide. Although the primary causes are often acute or chronic coronary diseases, genetic conditions, such as inherited channelopathies or non-ischemic cardiomyopathies are leading causes of SCD among the young. However, relevant experimental models to study the underlying mechanisms of arrhythmias and develop new therapies are still needed.

Background And Aims: Inflammation is a risk factor for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). Elevated levels of both high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and interleukin-6 (IL6) have been associated with MACE. However, few studies have compared IL6 to hsCRP for cardiovascular risk assessment.

Kohlschütter-Tönz syndrome (KTS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by severe intellectual disability, early-onset epileptic seizures, and amelogenesis imperfecta. Here, we present a novel Rogdi mutant mouse deleting exons 6-11- a mutation found in KTS patients disabling ROGDI function. This Rogdi mutant model recapitulates most KTS symptoms.
