Aims: Women are less likely to receive lipid-lowering therapy (LLT) after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). We analysed whether this under-prescription currently persists and has an impact on long-term outcomes.
Methods And Results: The FAST-MI programme consists of nationwide registries including all patients admitted for AMI ≤ 48 h from onset over a 1 month period in 2005, 2010, and 2015, with long-term follow-up.

Background: Despite major advances in prevention and treatment, cardiovascular diseases - particularly acute myocardial infarction - remain a leading cause of death worldwide and in France. Collecting contemporary data about the characteristics, management and outcomes of patients with acute myocardial infarction in France is important.
Aims: The main objectives are to describe baseline characteristics, contemporary management, in-hospital and long-term outcomes of patients with acute myocardial infarction hospitalized in tertiary care centres in France; secondary objectives are to investigate determinants of prognosis (including periodontal disease and sleep-disordered breathing), to identify gaps between evidence-based recommendations and management and to assess medical care costs for the index hospitalization and during the follow-up period.

Introduction: the objective of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic response of patients treated with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) for rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Methods: descriptive and analytical single-center cross-sectional study conducted in Burkina Faso from January 2019 to December 2021 in patients with RA meeting American Rheumatism Association/European League against rheumatism criteria. Therapeutic response was assessed according to the criteria of the European League Against Rheumatism, the clinical disease activity index and the simplified disease activity Index after at least six months of treatment.

Aims: To explore cardiac structural and functional parameters and myocardial sensitivity to ischemia in a rat model of chronic arthritis, pristane-induced arthritis (PIA), and to investigate the effects of a running exercise protocol on cardiac disorders related to rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Main Methods: 3 groups of male Dark Agouti rats were formed: Controls, PIA and PIA-Exercise. The PIA-Exercise group was subjected to an individualized treadmill running protocol during the remission phase.

Objective: The relationship between physical activity and lower limb veins is complex. If a sedentary lifestyle is considered to be negative on lower limb veins, specific information on physical activity varicose vein volume is sparse, especially the effect of high physical activity volume. The main objective of the VARISPORT study was to evaluate lower limb veins (clinically, morphologically, and haemodynamically) and chronic venous disease symptoms in subjects exposed to high physical activity volume compared with a group of non-exposed subjects.

Aims: Conflicting data exists about long-term outcomes in young women and men experiencing acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Methods: The FAST-MI program consists of three nationwide French surveys carried out 5years apart from 2005 to 2015, including consecutive patients with AMI over a 1-month period with up to 10-year follow-up. The present analysis focused on adults≤50 yo according to their gender.

Introduction: Status epilepticus (SE) is a common life-threatening neurological emergency that can cause long-term impairments. Overall outcomes remain poor. Major efforts are required to clarify the epidemiology of SE and the determinants of outcomes, thereby identifying targets for improved management.

Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) is the etiological agent of all forms of Kaposi's sarcoma (KS). K1 gene studies have identified five major molecular genotypes with geographical clustering. This study described the epidemiology of HHV-8 and its molecular diversity in Gabon among Bantu and Pygmy adult rural populations and KS patients.

Methods to control the blood glucose (BG) levels of patients in intensive care units (ICU) improve the outcomes. The development of continuous BG levels monitoring devices has also permitted to optimize these processes. Recently it was shown that a complexity loss of the BG signal is linked to poor clinical outcomes.
