Background: Legionnaires' disease (LD) is an important cause of community-acquired pneumonia with high mortality rates in the most severe cases.
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of antimicrobial strategy on ICU mortality.
Methods: Retrospective, observational study including patients admitted to 10 ICUs for severe community-acquired LD over a 10 year period (2005-15) and receiving an active therapy within 48 h of admission .

Introduction: Ocular and orbital trauma is a leading cause of acquired monocular blindness in childhood. These injuries differ from those in adults in some aspects of the management and prognosis, notably the risk of amblyopia. The goal of this study was to analyze the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic features of ocular trauma in children who consulted in an eye emergency department in Île-de-France.

Objectives: To describe the characteristics of a cohort of patients with microscopic colitis (MC; lymphocytic (LC) or collagenous (CC) colitis) and to compare them with patients with functional bowel disorder with diarrhea (FBD-D).
Methods: Between September 2010 and June 2012, patients fulfilling the following inclusion criteria were prospectively included in 26 centers in France: (i) having at least three bowel movements daily with change in stool consistency; (ii) duration of abnormal bowel habit >4 weeks; and (iii) normal or near-normal colonoscopy. Each patient underwent a colonoscopy and colonic biopsies.

Introduction: The decrease of patellar height following opening-wedge proximal tibial osteotomy can affect function, and subsequent total knee arthroplasty may be more difficult and give poorer results.
Hypothesis: Pre-operative patellar height is an objective predictor of functional result in opening-wedge osteotomy.
Patients And Methods: The effect of opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) and internal fixation on patellar height and its functional outcome were assessed.

Background: Accurate knowledge of knee joint kinematics, especially patellofemoral joint kinematics,is essential for prosthetic evaluation so as to further improve total knee arthroplasty performances. Improving the evaluation of the functioning of the extensor apparatus appears,in this respect, particularly important in this optimization effort.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to propose a new experimental setup for the analysis of knee joint kinematics and to validate its relevance in terms of accuracy and uncertainty.

Introduction: Thirteen percents of the patients suffering from Buruli ulcer in Ivory Coast show sequels at a result of their spontaneous healing. The purpose of our study is to report and estimate the first series of the sequel treatment of Buruli ulcer, with standard reconstructive procedures used in plastic surgery.
Method: Sixteen patients totalizing 18 sequels were classified into 2 groups:13 patients showed functional sequels in connection with cicaticial retractions about level with joints;3 patients showed aesthetic sequels with no repercussion on the functional aspect.

A 63-year-old man with genetic haemochromatosis underwent resection of a cholangiocarcinoma that developed in von Meyenburg complexes; the liver was not cirrhotic. Patients with an association of genetic haemochromatosis and von Meyenburg complexes might have a predisposition to cholangiocarcinoma, even before cirrhosis occurs. Patients with this association should undergo regular and early hepatic surveillance of hemochromatosis.

The methods of surveillance of coronary angiography or angioplasty operators vary from team to team. The choice of method implies evaluation of the level of exposition of unprotected areas. The usual methods of surveillance by dosimetry may be complemented by an electronic device used for industrial radiological protection against X and Gamma rays.

The fibula osteocutaneous free flap now has a recognized place in the therapeutic arsenal of microsurgical mandibular reconstructions. Based on a review of the literature and their own experience, the authors propose a preoperative and intraoperative strategy adapted to reconstructions of mandibular defects. The place of complementary investigations, the site of the skin flap, the choice of osteotomy, the type of fixation, and spatialisation of the skin flap are presented.

The sensitive gonococci can be converted to serum resistance by incubation with a host derived factor referred to as cytidine 5'-monophospho-N-acetylneuraminic acid (CMP-NANA). These gonococci resist complement mediated killing due to their sialylation of an epitope structure on a component of lipo-oligosaccharide (LOS).

The authors report their experience after 15 months of use of an implantable chamber for regional intra-arterial chemotherapy in stomatological cancer. This technique rekindles interest in intra-arterial chemotherapy via a retrograde temporal route, by simplifying the technique. The remarkable local tolerance of implantable chambers makes them preferable to external catheters and suitable for long term intra-arterial chemotherapy.
