Orthop Traumatol Surg Res

December 2024

Société Française de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologique, 56 rue Boissonade, 75014 Paris Cedex, France.

Introduction: Lower limb length discrepancy (LLD) following hip arthroplasty after proximal femoral fracture (PFFA) is little studied. The aim of this work was to answer the following questions: 1) What are the incidence and mean values of LLD after PFFA? 2) What are the clinical consequences (tolerance) of LLD after PFFA? 3) Can we identify risk factors for LLD after PFFA? 4) Is there a significant difference in terms of LLD after PFFA to treat intra- versus extra-capsular fractures?

Hypothesis: LLD after proximal femoral fracture arthroplasty is rare but has good clinical tolerance, given the low functional demands of the patients.

Patients And Methods: This is a multicenter prospective observational cohort study (15 centers), including 590 patients, operated on for hip arthroplasty for proximal femur fracture between May 2022 and June 2023.

Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is an emerging technology for the non-invasive monitoring of regional distribution of ventilation and perfusion, offering real-time and continuous data that can greatly enhance our understanding and management of various respiratory conditions and lung perfusion. Its application may be especially beneficial for critically ill mechanically ventilated patients. Despite its potential, clear evidence of clinical benefits is still lacking, in part due to a lack of standardization and transparent reporting, which is essential for ensuring reproducible research and enhancing the use of EIT for personalized mechanical ventilation.

In HPV-associated carcinomas, some examples of cancer-related genes altered by viral insertion and corresponding to potential therapeutic targets have been described, but no quantitative assessment of these events, including poorly recurrent targets, has been reported to date. To document these occurrences, we built and analyzed a database comprised of 1455 cases, including HPV genotypes and tumor localizations. Host DNA sequences targeted by viral integration were classified as "non-recurrent" (one single reported case; 838 loci), "weakly recurrent" (two reported cases; 82 loci), and highly recurrent (≥3 cases; 43 loci).

March 2024

Department of Infectious Diseases, Tick-Borne Diseases Reference Center of Paris and the Northern Region, Centre Hospitalier Intercommunal de Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, 40 Allée de La Source, 94190, Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, France.

Introduction: To answer to patients' medical wandering, often due to "unexplained symptoms" of "unexplained diseases" and to misinformation, multidisciplinary care centers for suspected Lyme borreliosis (LB), such as the 5 Tick-Borne Diseases (TBDs) Reference Centers (TBD-RC), were created a few years ago in France, the Netherlands and Denmark. Our study consisted of a comprehensive analysis of the satisfaction of the patients managed at a TBD-RC for suspected LB in the context of scientific and social controversy.

Methods: We included all adults who were admitted to one of the TBD-RC from 2017 to 2020.
