Introduction: COVID-19 induces venous, arterial and microvascular thrombosis, involving several pathophysiological processes. In patients with severe COVID-19 without macrovascular thrombosis, escalating into high-dose prophylactic anticoagulation (HD-PA) or therapeutic anticoagulation (TA) could be beneficial in limiting the extension of microvascular thrombosis and forestalling the evolution of lung and multiorgan microcirculatory dysfunction. In the absence of data from randomised trials, clinical practice varies widely.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) improve the prognosis of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. However, clinicians should be aware of potentially life-threatening immune-related adverse events (irAEs). We report a case of a 67-year-old man with lung adenocarcinoma who developed an acute ischemic stroke after the second administration of pembrolizumab.

Cardiovascular death is the main cause of mortality in chronic alcoholics, perhaps due to a pro-arrhythmogenic effect of alcohol associated with infraclinical myocardial lesions. The authors investigated prospectively 41 patients (average age: 49.7 years) who were chronic alcoholics but had no acute alcoholic episodes for cardiac disease (ECG, signal averaging for late ventricular potentials, echocardiography and Holter ECG monitoring) and hepatic disease (liver biopsy).

A case report involving an 80 year old man is presented. He had a moderate degree of kidney failure and was on high drug dosage, considering his age and weight.
