Pleuropulmonary Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma.

We present the CT, thoracoscopic, and histological findings of a 55-year-old female with pleuropulmonary epithelioid hemangioendothelioma. The CT scan revealed pleuropulmonary lesions, and thoracoscopy allowed direct visualization and biopsy of the lesions. Histological analysis confirmed the diagnosis, emphasizing the utility of combining imaging, endoscopic, and pathological methods in diagnosing this rare tumor.

Radiographic Detection of Post-Traumatic Bone Fractures: Contribution of Artificial Intelligence Software to the Analysis of Senior and Junior Radiologists.

Objectives: The aims of this study were: (a) to evaluate the performance of an artificial intelligence (AI) software package (Boneview Trauma, Gleamer) for the detection of post-traumatic bone fractures in radiography as a standalone; (b) used by two radiologists (osteoarticular senior and junior); and (c) to determine to whom AI would be most helpful.

Materials And Methods: Within 14 days of a trauma, 101 consecutive patients underwent radiographic examination of the upper or lower limbs. The definite diagnosis for identifying fractures was: (a) radio-clinical consensus between the radiologist on-call who analyzed the images and the orthopedist (Group 1); (b) Cone Beam computed tomography (CBCT) exploration of the area of interest, in case of doubts or absence of consensus (Group 2).

Anti-Arrhythmic Effects of Heart Failure Guideline-Directed Medical Therapy and Their Role in the Prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death: From Beta-Blockers to Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibitors and Beyond.

Sudden cardiac death (SCD) accounts for a substantial proportion of mortality in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), frequently triggered by ventricular arrhythmias (VA). This review aims to analyze the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying VA and SCD in HFrEF and evaluate the effectiveness of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) in reducing SCD. Beta-blockers, angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitors, and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists have shown significant efficacy in reducing SCD risk.

Lobar Mucus Plugging Reflecting Central Bronchial Tumoral Obstruction: A Case Report.

Early diagnosis of bronchopulmonary carcinoid tumors is crucial as the surgical excision is the main treatment and determines the prognosis. We present the case of a 66-year-old heavy-smoker man who had started to complain about a cough a few months ago. We diagnosed him with an endobronchial mass on a chest computed tomography scan and lobar bronchoceles resulting from mucus plugging distal to the tumor obstruction.

Influence of organizational factors on the offer and success rate of a trial of labor after cesarean section in Belgium: an ecological study.

Background: Trial of Labor After Cesarean is an important strategy for reducing the overall rate of cesarean delivery. Offering the option of vaginal delivery to a woman with a history of cesarean section requires the ability to manage a potential uterine rupture quickly and effectively. This requires infrastructure and organization of the maternity unit so that the decision-to-delivery interval is as short as possible when uterine rupture is suspected.

Could a three-dimensional contralateral meniscus segmentation for allograft or scaffold sizing be possible? A prospective study.

Purpose: Meniscal allografts and biodegradable meniscal implants are attractive surgical options for painful subtotal or total meniscectomies. In order to get the best results, these should be as similar as possible to the original meniscus in terms of shape, structure, and volume. Three-dimensional meniscus sizing could be an approach to improve the accuracy of meniscus matching.

Thrombosis of Chiari's network in the setting of non-bacterial thrombotic endocarditis occurring under non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulation: a case report.

Background: Non-bacterial thrombotic endocarditis (NBTE) is a rare condition characterized by sterile thrombi on undamaged valves. We herein report a case of NBTE involving the Chiari's network and the mitral valve, related to a metastatic cancer, and occurring under non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulant (NOAC).

Case Summary: A 74-year-old patient with metastatic pulmonary cancer was diagnosed with a right atrium mass during pre-treatment cardiovascular check-up.

Safety and efficacy of a nurse-led elective cardioversion with etomidate for atrial arrhythmia in a tertiary hospital.

Management of cardiac arrhythmias often requires direct current cardioversion (DCC) to restore sinus rhythm. This intervention varies greatly between countries and hospitals, mostly regarding the organization of an elective DCC, and the choice of the sedation. The aim of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of an elective DCC performed in a cardiology day hospital, led by trained nurses, and using intravenous Etomidate as sedation.

Purpose: Extensor mechanism disruption is an uncommon and devastating complication after total knee arthroplasty. It negatively affects patients' quality of life and leads to significant functional limitations and the inability to stand and walk. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the outcomes of the extensor mechanism reconstruction using Achilles' tendon allograft after infected total knee arthroplasty.

Ascites in infantile onset type II Sialidosis.

Sialidosis is a rare autosomal-recessive lysosomal storage disease due to mutations in the gene leading to a deficit of alpha-n-acetyl neuraminidase and causing aberrant accumulation of sialylated glycoproteins/peptides and oligosaccharides in the lysosomes of various organs and tissues. Type II sialidosis (dysmorphic form) is classified into three subgroups based on the age of onset and the clinical severity: Congenital or neonatal, infantile (onset 0-12 months) and juvenile form (onset 13 months-20 years). We report the case of a 3-year-old boy with sialidosis type II infantile form, who developed a voluminous ascites.

Methemoglobinemia due to use of poppers: a case report.

Background: Methemoglobinemia is an excess of oxidized hemoglobin in the blood, affecting oxygen transportation. It is characterized by central cyanosis that does not respond to oxygen therapy. Prognosis is excellent when treated adequately and rapidly.

Unlabelled: Infectious sacroiliitis is a rare disease that can occur in conjunction with other osteoarticular infections. Furthermore, it is very unusual for to be identified in an osteoarticular infection, with spondylodiscitis being the most frequent such infection. We report a case of spondylodiscitis with infectious sacroiliitis due to infection with treated successfully with meropenem as salvage therapy.

Implementation of fetal clinical exome sequencing: Comparing prospective and retrospective cohorts.

Purpose: We compared the diagnostic yield of fetal clinical exome sequencing (fCES) in prospective and retrospective cohorts of pregnancies presenting with anomalies detected using ultrasound. We evaluated factors that led to a higher diagnostic efficiency, such as phenotypic category, clinical characterization, and variant analysis strategy.

Methods: fCES was performed for 303 fetuses (183 ongoing and 120 ended pregnancies, in which chromosomal abnormalities had been excluded) using a trio/duo-based approach and a multistep variant analysis strategy.

Exposure to SARS-CoV-2 in Hospital Environment: Working in a COVID-19 Ward Is a Risk Factor for Infection.

Health care workers (HCWs) are at risk of acquiring the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Infection (SARS-CoV-2). The aim of the study is to determine the SARS-CoV-2 positivity rates during the first epidemiologic peak among HCWs of a south Belgian hospital and to identify risks factors for infection. All hospital staff who worked during the first epidemiological peak were asked to answer a questionnaire regarding demographical data, function, type of working unit, type of contact with patients, eventual symptomatology, and the positivity of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing or immunoassay.

Successful treatment of interstitial pneumonia with autoimmune features using rituximab as salvage therapy.

Interstitial pneumonia with autoimmune features is a complex and heterogeneous research classification without clear management and should be discussed on a case-by-case basis in a pluridisciplinary way.
