Anacardic acid (6-pentadecylsalicylic acid, AA), a natural compound isolated from the traditional medicine Amphipterygiumadstringens, has been reported as potential antitumor agents in various cancers including prostate cancer (PC). However, the effects and mechanism of AA on the radiosensitivity of prostate cancer remains unknown. The results indicated that AA exhibited strong antitumor activity in PC cell lines, either as a single agentor in combination with radiation.

Spatial and temporal differences of HMGB1 expression in the pancreas of rats with acute pancreatitis.

We aimed to investigate the spatial and temporal differences in expression between HMGB1 and early-stage inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-α) in pancreas tissue in rats with acute pancreatitis. SD rats (BW 350 ± 30 g, n = 48) were randomly divided into the experimental group (n = 36) which were injected with 5% sodium taurocholate into the bilipancreatic duct retrogradely to produce acute necrotic pancreatitis (ANP) rat models, and the sham-operated (SO) group (n = 12) injected with equal dose of saline. The rats were sacrificed at different time points at 0 h, 3 h, 6 h, 12 h, and 24 h post modeling, respectively.

This study was designed to investigate the effects of GA on leukemia cells growth, migration, and the mechanisms underlying the anti-cancer activities of GA. MTT test was used to detect the effect of GA on TF-1 leukemia cell growth.

Primary adrenal leiomyosarcoma: a case report and review of literature.

Primary adrenal leiomyosarcoma (PAL) is an extremely rare mesenchymal tumors and originates from the smooth muscle wall of the central adrenal vein and its branches. Herein we report a case of a 49-year-old female suffering from PAL.
