Osteoarthritis (OA), one of the most common motor system disorders, is a degenerative disease involving progressive joint destruction caused by a variety of factors. At present, OA has become the fourth most common cause of disability in the world. However, the pathogenesis of OA is complex and has not yet been clarified.

Yet, enhancing the electronic conductivity and structural stability are two key issues in exploiting high-rate and long-life PAA-based electrodes. Herein, these challenges are addressed by engineering a novel multidimensional integrated architecture, which consists of 0D Mn-substituted PAA nanocrystals embedded in 1D tubular graphene scrolls that are co-assembled with 2D N-doped graphene sheets.

Psoriasis is widely accepted as a metabolic syndrome with significantly abnormal lipid metabolism and high level of blood lipids that induce a persistent low level of inflammatory condition in patients. T cell mediated immune response plays a critical role in the occurrence and persistence of psoriasis lesions. Hyperlipidemia and associated inflammatory reaction are believed to be the major risk factors for the onset and recurrence of psoriasis.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common joint disease that mainly results in chronic pain, stiffness and dysfunction in elderly individuals. The molecular mechanisms in the pathogenesis of OA are still unclear, and available treatments are unable to slowdown the development of OA or reverse the tissue damage. Circular RNAs (circRNAs), a novel type of non-coding RNA, are ubiquitous, stable, evolutionally conserved, tissue-specific and functional.

Both cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) and gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) are belong to biliary tract carcinomas (BTCs) with a high degree of malignancy and a poor prognosis. Therefore, an model is urgently needed to increase our understanding of the pathogenesis of BTCs. Tumor organoids are a novel three-dimensional (3D) culture technology that utilizes samples from removed tumors.

To address these issues, a three in one strategy using ZrB as the dopant is proposed for constructing a stable Ni-rich cathode. In this strategy, Zr and B are doped into the bulk of LiNiCoMnO, respectively, which is beneficial to stabilize the crystal structure and mitigate the microcracks.

Here, the immune features are comprehensively characterized in >10 000 cancer patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas and significantly positive correlations are observed between targets of Sunitinib and inhibitory immune checkpoints and suppressive immune cells. It is further confirmed that Sunitinib treatment increases the antitumor immunity in a phase III trial.

First-principles calculation and Boltzmann transport theory have been combined to comparatively investigate the band structure, phonon spectrum, lattice thermal conductivity, electronic transport property, Seebeck coefficient, and figure of merit of square/octagon (s/o)-bismuth monolayer. Calculations reveal that the thermoelectric properties of s/o-bismuth monolayer are better than that of β-bismuth monolayer, which should be mainly due to the low lattice thermal conductivity and weakened coupling of electrons and phonons. It is also found that the phonon frequency and group velocity could play dominant roles in determining the magnitude of the lattice thermal conductivity of s/o-bismuth monolayer.

Here, we developed a new labelling strategy to prepare magnetic EVs (magneto-EVs) allowing sensitive yet specific MRI tracking of systemically injected therapeutic EVs. This new labelling strategy relies on the use of 'sticky' magnetic particles, namely superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticles coated with polyhistidine tags, to efficiently separate magneto-EVs from unencapsulated SPIO particles.

Concerns about the potential neurotoxicity of general anesthesia to the developing brain have been increasing in recent years. Animal studies have shown that neonatal exposure to general anesthesia causes both acute neurotoxicity and behavioral abnormalities later in life. In the present study, we observed over-activation of neuronal apoptosis in the brain of neonatal mice after a single exposure to anesthesia with sevoflurane for 6 hours at the age of 7 days.

Ovarian cancer is one of the most common cancers in women and the second most common cause of gynecologic cancer death in women worldwide. While ovarian cancer is highly heterogeneous in histological subtypes and molecular genetic makeup, epithelial ovarian cancer is the most common subtype. The clinical outcomes of ovarian cancer largely depend on early detection and access to appropriate surgery and systemic therapy.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common skeletal disease and the leading cause of pain and disability in the aged population (>65 years). However, the underlying factors involved in OA pathogenesis remain elusive which has resulted in failure to identify disease-modifying OA drugs. Altered metabolism has been shown to be a prominent pathological change in OA.

Cytotoxic CD8 T cell exhaustion is one of the mechanisms underlying the tumor immune escape. The paradigm-shifting immune checkpoint therapy can mitigate CD8 T lymphocyte exhaustion, reinvigorate the anticancer immunity, and achieve durable tumor regression for some patients. Emerging evidence indicates that CD4 T lymphocytes also have a critical role in anticancer immunity, either by directly applying cytotoxicity toward cancer cells or as a helper to augment CD8 T cell cytotoxicity.

Lipid droplets (LDs) are a kind of organelle that is commonly found in eukaryotic cells to store lipids, which encompass a hydrophobic core composed of a single layer of phospholipids and neutral lipids (mainly including triacylglycerol (TAG) and cholesterol ester (CE)) as well as a small amount of proteins. LD accumulation is gradually recognized as a prominent characteristic in a variety of cancers and attracts increasing attention on this field. In this article, we not only summarize the composition, synthesis and decomposition of LD, but also highlight its role in carcinogenesis and malignant development of cancers.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLitter inputs can influence soil respiration directly through labile C availability and, indirectly, through the activity of soil microorganisms and modifications in soil microclimate; however, their relative contributions and the magnitude of any effect remain poorly understood. We synthesized 66 recently published papers on forest ecosystems using a meta-analysis approach to investigate the effect of litter inputs on soil respiration and the underlying mechanisms involved. Our results showed that litter inputs had a strong positive impact on soil respiration, labile C availability, and the abundance of soil microorganisms, with less of an impact related to soil moisture and temperature.

LiNiCoMnO (NCM) is a kind of promising cathode material for lithium ion batteries because of its high capacities. However, the further commercialization of this material has been seriously hindered by the unstable structure at a deep de-lithiation state. Herein, it is identified that this drawback can be diminished by Al-doping, which is inherently stable in the lattice framework to restrain the structural collapse of LiNiCoMnO at a high cut-off voltage (4.

Tailoring the organic spacing cations enables developing new Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskites with tunable optoelectronic properties and superior stabilities. However, the formation of highly crystallized RP perovskites can be hindered when the structure of organic cations become complex. Strategies to regulate crystal growing process and grains quality remain to be explored.

The one-pot synthesis of methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) and methyl isobutyl methanol (MIBC) from acetone and hydrogen is a typical cascade reaction comprised of aldol condensation-dehydration-hydrogenation. Pd loss and aggregation during long term operation are typical problems in industrial application. In this paper, an active and stable catalyst was achieved with defective UiO-66 as a support for Pd, which was synthesized with the ratio 15 : 1 of ZrOCl·8HO to ZrCl as Zr-precursors.
