Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) is an endometrial damage repair disorder that leads to menstrual loss, amenorrhea, and infertility in women; therefore, addressing this dilemma is a critical challenge. In this study, a multifunctional hydrogel, comprising oxidized sodium alginate (OSA), strontium carbonate (SrCO), and betamethasone 21-phosphate sodium (BSP), was formulated to facilitate angiogenesis, reduce fibrosis, and support tissue repair in the treatment of IUA. The composite hydrogels showed significant bioactivity on human endometrial stromal cells (HESCs) and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), promoting the injured HESCs repair, reversing the degree of fibrosis to a certain extent, and enhancing the proliferation and migration of HUVECs.

Direct compression tablet formulation of trimetazidine through systematic screening of oxalate salts.

Int J Pharm

January 2025

Department of Pharmaceutics, University of Minnesota, 308 Harvard St. S.E., Minneapolis, MN 55455, USA. Electronic address:

Salt formation has been extensively used to modulate and improve the properties of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), such as solubility, stability and mechanical properties. Tablets of the anti-angina drug, trimetazidine (TMZ) are currently manufactured using the wet granulation process, rather than the more cost-effective direct compression method. In an effort to address the two main challenges associated with the commercial dihydrochloride salt (TMZ-2HCl), i.

Post-growth: the science of wellbeing within planetary boundaries.

Lancet Planet Health

January 2025

Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy, Central European University, Vienna, Austria.

There are increasing concerns that continued economic growth in high-income countries might not be environmentally sustainable, socially beneficial, or economically achievable. In this Review, we explore the rapidly advancing field of post-growth research, which has evolved in response to these concerns. The central idea of post-growth is to replace the goal of increasing GDP with the goal of improving human wellbeing within planetary boundaries.

This study evaluated the properties of lentil protein, pea protein, quinoa protein, and soy protein as natural nanoparticle stabilizers and their interactions with pectin and chitin nanofiber in preparing high internal phase Pickering emulsions (HIPPEs). The globular plant proteins interact with polysaccharides through hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions, transforming the structure into complex morphologies, including fibrous and elliptical shapes. These complex nanoparticles exhibited enhanced thermal decomposition stability, and the HIPPEs constructed by them demonstrated significantly improved apparent viscosity and elastic modulus, with a yield stress of 931.

Associations of cathepsins with pulmonary arterial hypertension mediated by circulating metabolites: A Mendelian randomization study.

Medicine (Baltimore)

January 2025

National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Disorders, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, China.

The correlation between cathepsins and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is well-established, but the causative link between them remains uncertain. This study aimed to explore the causal role of circulating metabolites mediating cathepsins in PAH using Mendelian randomization (MR). A 2-sample 2-step MR method was used to identify causal relationship between cathepsins and PAH; causal relationship between circulating metabolites and PAH; and mediated effects of these circulating metabolites.

Purpose: Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 isoform IIIb (FGFR2b) protein overexpression is an emerging biomarker in gastric cancer and gastroesophageal junction cancer (GC). We assessed FGFR2b protein overexpression prevalence in nearly 3,800 tumor samples as part of the prescreening process for a global phase III study in patients with newly diagnosed advanced or metastatic GC.

Methods: As of June 28, 2024, 3,782 tumor samples from prescreened patients from 37 countries for the phase III FORTITUDE-101 trial (ClinicalTrials.

As enterprise leaders, CEOs play a critical role in driving enterprise investment in pollution control. However, few studies have explored the motivations behind enterprise investment in pollution control, primarily how CEOs' early experiences influence their decisions. Based on the perspective of imprinting theory, this study examines the impact of CEOs with government work experience on enterprise investment in pollution control and the boundary conditions of this impact.

Surface water plays a vital role in the spread of infectious diseases. Information on the spatial and temporal dynamics of surface water availability is thus critical to understanding, monitoring and forecasting disease outbreaks. Before the launch of Sentinel-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) missions, surface water availability has been captured at various spatial scales through approaches based on optical remote sensing data.

Banded iron formations (BIFs), significant iron ore deposits formed approximately 2.3 billion years ago under low-oxygen conditions, have recently gained attention as potential geological sources for evaluating hydrogen (H₂) production. BIFs are characterized by high concentrations of iron oxide (20 to 40 wt.

Since the dissemination of information is more rapid and the scale of users on online platforms is enormous, the public opinion risk is more visible and harder to tackle for universities and authorities. Improving the accuracy of predictions regarding online public opinion crises, especially those related to campuses, is crucial for maintaining social stability. This research proposes a public opinion crisis prediction model that applies the Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) algorithm combined with long short-term memory (LSTM) and implements it to analyze a trending topic on Sina Weibo to validate its prediction accuracy.

Aquatic toxicology, as a result of industrial and agrieqcultural effluences, has become a global concern impacting not only the well-being of aquatic organisms but human health as well. The current study evaluated the impact of four toxic trace elements (TTEs) Cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), and nickel (Ni) in three organs (liver, gills, and muscles) of five fish species viz, Rita rita, Sperata sarwari, Wallago attu, Mastacembelus armatus, and Cirrhinus mrigala collected from right and left banks of Punjnad headworks during winter, spring, and summer. We investigated the accumulation (mg/kg) of these TTEs in fish in addition to the human health risk assessment.

Purpose: Graves' ophthalmopathy (GO), the most common extrathyroidal manifestation of Graves' disease, is disabling and disfiguring. Recent studies have shown that statins have a protective effect on individuals with GO. Statins were reported to trigger ferroptosis in some disorders, but little is known about whether statins protect against GO via ferroptosis.
