The production, distribution and use of copper objects and the development of metallurgical skills in Neolithic Northern Central Europe and Southern Scandinavia are linked to early centres of copper metallurgy of South East Central Europe and Southeast Europe. A total of 45 Neolithic copper objects, until now the largest sample of Early Neolithic objects from the Northern Central European Plain and Southern Scandinavia, were selected for new lead isotope analyses. They aided in the identification of the origin of the copper: These new analyses indicate that the copper ore deposits in Southeastern Europe, especially from the Serbian mining areas, were used for the Early Neolithic northern artefacts (ca.

The energy and electrode costs are the restrictions of applying electrocoagulation (EC) in wastewater treatment and many attempts have been made to decrease these costs. In this study, an economical EC was investigated to treat a hazardous anionic azo dye wastewater (DW) that threatens the environment and human health. Firstly, an electrode for EC process was produced from recycled aluminum cans (RACs) by remelting in an induction melting furnace.

Powder metallurgy (PM) is a technique that involves the manufacturing of metal powders and their consolidation into finished products or components. This process involves the mixing of metal powders with other materials such as ceramics or polymers, followed by the application of heat and pressure to produce a solid, dense material. The use of PM has several advantages over traditional manufacturing techniques, including the ability to create complex shapes and the production of materials with improved properties.

Heavy metal(loid)s inputs contribute to human and environmental stresses in the coastal zones of Bangladesh. Several studies have been conducted on metal(loid)s pollution in sediment, soil, and water in the coastal zones. However, they are sporadic, and no attempt has been made in coastal zones from the standpoint of chemometric review.

In recent years, electrochemical oxidation (EO) shows the characteristics of green and high efficiency in removing chemical oxygen demand (COD) and ammonia nitrogen (NH-N) from wastewater, which has been favored by researchers. However, at present, most of current studies on EO remain in laboratory stage, reports about pilot-scale or even industrial tests with large treatment capacity are few, which slowing down the use of the advanced technology to practical application. In this study, bench-scale tests, pilot-scale tests (treatment capacity 200-500 L/h), and industrial tests (treatment capacity 100 m/h) were carried out by EO technology in view of the characteristics of tungsten smelting wastewater (TSW) with high salinity (NaCl), COD, and NH-N.

The human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormone is a biomarker that can predict tumors and early pregnancy; however, it is challenging to develop sensitive qualitative-quantitative procedures that are also effective, inventive, and unique. In this study, we used a novel easy reaction of an organic nano-linker with Zn(NO)·6HO and HAuCl·3HO to produce a gold-zinc-salen metal-organic framework composite known as Au-Zn-Sln-MOF. A wide variety of micro-analytical instruments and spectroscopic techniques were used in order to characterize the newly synthesized Au-Zn-Sln-MOF composite.

Nanocrystalline metals have presented intriguing possibilities for use in radiation environments due to their high grain boundary volume, serving as enhanced irradiation-induced defect sinks. Their promise has been lessened due to the propensity for nanocrystalline metals to suffer deleterious grain growth from combinations of irradiation and/or elevated homologous temperature. While approaches for stabilizing such materials against grain growth are the subject of current research, there is still a lack of central knowledge on the irradiation-grain boundary interactions in pure metals despite many studies on the same.

The disposal of end-of-life (EOL) photovoltaic solar panels has become a relevant environmental issue as they are considered to be a hazardous electronic waste. On the other hand, enormous benefits are achieved from recovering valuable metals and materials from such waste. Eventually, physical and chemical processing will become the most important stages during the recycling process.

Nano-structured Mo/Fe intermetallics were synthesized from precursors that contained 72/28% and 30/70% molar ratios of Mo/Fe, which were given as precursors A and B, respectively. These precursors were prepared from the co-precipitation of aqueous hot solutions of ammonium heptamolybdate tetrahydrate (AHM) and ferrous oxalate. The dry precipitates were thermally treated using TG-DSC to follow up their behavior during roasting, in an Ar atmosphere of up to 700 °C (10° K/min).

Hot forging dies are subjected to periodic thermal stress and often fail in the forms of thermal fatigue, wear, plastic deformation, and fracture. A gradient multi-material wire arc additive remanufacturing method for hot forging dies was proposed to extend the service life of hot forging dies and reduce total production costs. The properties of multi-material gradient interfaces play a critical role in determining the overall performance of the final products.

In this present work, a PVA/PVP-blend polymer was doped with various concentrations of neodymium oxide (PB-Nd) composite films using the solution casting technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was used to investigate the composite structure and proved the semi-crystallinity of the pure PVA/PVP polymeric sample. Furthermore, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) analysis, a chemical-structure tool, illustrated a significant interaction of PB-Nd elements in the polymeric blends.

GeSn compounds have made many interesting contributions in photodetectors (PDs) over the last ten years, as they have a detection limit in the NIR and mid-IR region. Sn incorporation in Ge alters the cut off wavelength. In the present article, p-i-n structures based on GeSn junctions were fabricated to serve as PDs.

To promote the reutilization of waste, resins adsorbed by Fe and Cu were carbonized and used as catalysts (Fe@C/Cu@C) to activate persulfate (PS) for 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) degradation. The heterogeneous catalytic reaction was mainly responsible for 2,4-DCP removal.

Glucansucrase AP-37 was extracted from the culture supernatant of Lactobacillus kunkeei AP-37 and characteristics of the glucan produced by the active glucansucrase in terms of structural and functional roles were determined in this study. A molecular weight around 300 kDa was observed for glucansucrase AP-37 and its acceptor reactions with maltose, melibiose and mannose were also conducted to unveil the prebiotic potential of the poly-oligosaccharides formed via these reactions. The core structure of glucan AP-37 was determined by H and C NMR and GC/MS analysis which revealed that glucan AP-37 was a highly branched dextran composing of high levels of (1 → 3)-linked α-d-glucose units with low levels of (1 → 2)-linked α-d-glucose units.

The Ni-rich layered cathode material LiNiCoMnO (NCM811) with high specific capacity and acceptable rate performance is one of the key cathode materials for high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries. Coprecipitation, the widely utilized method in the precursor synthesis of NCM811 materials, however, suffers long synthetic processes and challenges in uniform element distribution. The spray pyrolysis method is able to prepare oxide precursors in seconds where all transition-metal elements are well distributed, but the difficulty of lithium distribution will also arise when the lithium salts are added in the subsequent sintering process.

The development of a sustainable process for heavy metal ion remediation has become a point of interest in various fields of research, including wastewater treatment, industrial development, and health and environmental safety. In the present study, a promising sustainable adsorbent was fabricated through continuous controlled adsorption/desorption processes for heavy metal uptake. The fabrication strategy is based on a simple modification of FeO magnetic nanoparticles with organosilica in a one-pot solvothermal process, carried out in order to insert the organosilica moieties into the FeO nanocore during their formation.
