Solid-state lithium-ion batteries with high safety are the encouraging next-generation rechargeable electrochemical energy storage devices. Yet, low Li conductivity of solid electrolyte and instability of solid-solid interface are the key issues hampering the practicability of the solid electrolyte. In this research, core-shell MOF-in-MOF nanopores UIO-66@67 are proposed as a unique bifunctional host of ionic liquid (IL) to fabricate core-shell ionic liquid-solid electrolyte (CSIL).

Researches of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation from pyrite oxidation and its impact on contaminants transformation has been constrained to abiotic conditions. However, pyrite oxidation by acidophiles is widespread in acidic environments. The potential role of these microorganisms on pyrite-induced ROS formation and pollutants processing is not understood well.

This work evaluates the efficiency of three deep eutectic solvents constituted of choline chloride and urea or glycerol or ethylene glycol in the pretreatment of the miscanthus in view of extracting cellulose. Analysis of experiments shows that basicity and polarity of the hydrogen bond donor of these DESs are directly related to the miscanthus solubility. The best efficient process was found using {Choline chloride/glycerol} mixture for the pretreatment at a temperature of 373 K and a duration of about 6 h.

Background: Engineered stone silicosis is an emerging disease in many countries worldwide produced by the inhalation of respirable dust of engineered stone. This silicosis has a high incidence among young workers, with a short latency period and greater aggressiveness than silicosis caused by natural materials. Although the silica content is very high and this is the key factor, it has been postulated that other constituents in engineered stones can influence the aggressiveness of the disease.

Circulating fluidized bed (CFB) fly ash is a by-product from CFB power generation, which is hard to utilize in cement because it contains f-CaO and SO. This work aims to explore the mechanism of the shrinkage compensation of free-CaO (f-CaO) and the autoclaved hydration characteristics and environmental performance of CFB fly ash mixed cementitious materials (CMM). In this work, long-term volume stability of CMM is improved with the addition of CFBFA.

In this study, ultra-high-strength steels, namely, cold-hardened austenitic stainless steel AISI 301 and martensitic abrasion-resistant steel AR600, as base metals (BMs) were butt-welded using a disk laser to evaluate the microstructure, mechanical properties, and effect of post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) at 250 °C of the dissimilar joints. The welding processes were conducted at different energy inputs (EIs; 50-320 J/mm). The microstructural evolution of the fusion zones (FZ) in the welded joints was examined using electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD) and laser scanning confocal microscopy.

A large amount of Bayer process red mud is discharged in the process of alumina production, which has caused significant pollution in the environment. The pozzolanic activity of Bayer red mud as a supplementary cementitious material is a research hotspot. In this work, a new method for Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry is used to determine the polymerization degree of Bayer red mud in order to evaluate its pozzolanic activity.

The power industry is in the process of grid modernization with the introduction of phasor measurement units (PMUs), advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), and other technologies. Although these technologies enable more reliable and efficient operation, the risk of cyber threats has increased, as evidenced by the recent blackouts in Ukraine and New York. One of these threats is false data injection attacks (FDIAs).

In the duplex steelmaking process, the oxygen flow rate is suppressed to reduce the increasing rate of the temperature in the molten bath, resulting in severe dynamic conditions. To improve the mixing effect of the molten bath, a Laval nozzle structure designed for combination gas has been proposed. In this research, five types of Laval nozzle structure have been built based on the combination gas content, and both numerical simulations and experiments are performed to analyze the flow field of the supersonic jet.

To solve the problem of poor corrosion and wear resistance of Mg-Li alloys, Fe-based amorphous coatings were prepared by high velocity oxygen-fuel spraying technology (HVOF) on the LA141 magnesium alloy substrate with a Ni60 intermediate layer. The microstructure and performance of Fe-based amorphous coatings with different oxygen flow and kerosene flow were characterized and analyzed. The results demonstrate that there is an optimal oxygen/kerosene ratio where the porosity of Fe-based amorphous coating is the lowest.
