Background: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is linked to both the development and progression of diabetes, while obesity remains a significant risk factor for this disease. However, the relationship between the TyG index and overweight or obese diabetes remains unclear.
Methods: This study was a cross-sectional analysis of data from 40,633 participants with body mass index (BMI) ≥ 24 kg/m who were screened from January 2018 to December 2023 at Henan Provincial People's Hospital.

Background: The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) is closely associated with the onset of diabetes, with obesity being a significant risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, the association between the AIP and T2DM in overweight and obese populations has been infrequently studied. Therefore, this study aimed to explore this association in overweight and obese individuals with T2DM.

Purpose: This phase 3 trial aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of capecitabine or capecitabine plus oxaliplatin (XELOX) with those of fluorouracil plus cisplatin (PF) in definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy (DCRT) for inoperable locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
Methods: Patients were randomly assigned to receive two cycles of capecitabine, XELOX, or PF along with concurrent intensity-modulated radiation therapy. Patients in each arm were again randomly assigned to receive two cycles of consolidation chemotherapy or not.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), one of the world's most prevalent malignancies, accounts for 90% of primary liver cancer cases. Recent studies have shown an increased expression of denticles E3 ubiquitin protein ligase homolog (DTL) in several different tumor types, but its function and regulatory mechanisms remain unclear.
Aims: This study aimed to investigate the expressions of the Cullin4 (CUL4) complex in HCC and elucidate the roles of DTL in HCC cells.

Background: The effects and risks of endovascular thrombectomy 6 to 24 hours after stroke onset due to basilar-artery occlusion have not been extensively studied.
Methods: In a trial conducted over a 5-year period in China, we randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, patients with basilar-artery stroke who presented between 6 to 24 hours after symptom onset to receive either medical therapy plus thrombectomy or medical therapy only (control). The original primary outcome, a score of 0 to 4 on the modified Rankin scale (range, 0 to 6, with a score of 0 indicating no disability, 4 moderately severe disability, and 6 death) at 90 days, was changed to a good functional status (a modified Rankin scale score of 0 to 3, with a score of 3 indicating moderate disability).

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a troublesome hygienic problem that afflicts the female population and is associated with extracellular matrix (ECM). Herein, we investigated the effects of microRNA (miR)-34a on ECM metabolism in fibroblasts of SUI via mediating nicotinamide phosphoribosyl transferase (Nampt/NAmPRTase) and hope to find novel insights in the treatment of SUI. Firstly, the anterior vaginal wall tissues of SUI patients and the female vaginal wall fibroblasts (FVWFs) of non-SUI subjects were collected and identified.

At present, treatment options for osimertinib resistance are very limited. Dual inhibition of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) significantly improved the progression-free survival (PFS) of advanced EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). After EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) resistance, EGFR-TKI continuation combined with VEGF inhibitors still had clinical benefits.

Transmembrane Channel-like (TMC) genes are critical in the carcinogenesis, proliferation, and cell cycle of human cancers. However, the multi-omics features of TMCs and their role in the prognosis and immunotherapeutic response of human cancer have not been explored. We discovered that TMCs 4-8 were commonly deregulated and correlated with patient survival in a variety of cancers.

Methylation at DNA, RNA and protein levels plays critical roles in many cellular processes and is associated with diverse differentiation events, physiological activities and human diseases. To aid in the diagnostic and therapeutic design for cancer treatment utilising methylation, this review provides a boutique yet comprehensive overview on methylation at different levels including the mechanisms, cross-talking and clinical implications with a particular focus on cancers. We conclude that DNA methylation is the sole type of methylation that has been largely translated into clinics and used for, mostly, early diagnosis.

Objective: To explore the synergistic immunomodulatory mechanism of interferon alpha-1b, interleukin-2 and thalidomide (ITI) regimen on patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Methods: Sixty eight untreated de novo or relapsed or refractory or maintenance therapy patients with AML admitted in the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Zhengzhou University and the other 11 medical units from March 2016 to May 2019 were treated with ITI regimen. Peripheral blood specimen per patient was collected into EDTA-K3 anticoagulation vacuum tube before the administration of ITI and 3 months after the treatment; peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets and perforin and Granzyme B expression were analyzed by using flow cytometry; the levels of VEGF, IFN-γ, TNF-α and IL-6 in the plasma were detected by using a cytometric bead array.

Purpose: It is a challenge for the primary hospitals to manage multiple trauma patients. In this article, we explored the advantage of establishing a surgical intensive care unit (SICU) predominant by cardiothoracic surgeons in the early management of multiple trauma.
Methods: This was a retrospective study and patients with multiple trauma in our hospital were collected and divided into two groups, based on time period and treat modes: group A (retrospective observation group) where patients were treated with the traditional treatment mode from January 2017 to December 2017 and group B (study group) where patients were treated in the SICU predominant by cardiothoracic surgeons from January 2018 to December 2018.

Cognitive dysfunction caused by chronic cerebral hypoperfusion is a common underlying cause of many cognition-related neurodegenerative diseases. The mechanisms of cognitive dysfunction caused by CCH are not clear. Long non-coding RNA is involved in synaptic plasticity and cognitive function, but whether lncRNA is involved in cognitive dysfunction caused by CCH has not yet been reported.
