Hematopoietic stem cell microtransplantation in patients aged over 70 with acute myeloid leukemia: a multicenter study.

In the era of molecular targeted drugs, elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) are still very difficult to treat, especially those older than 70 years. The decline in immune function leads to serious infection and disease recurrence. The microtransplant treatment regimen (MST) chemotherapy combined with allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell infusion is a new cell therapy regimen.

Donor Selection in HLA-Mismatched Hematopoietic Stem Cell Microtransplantation for Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

To remedy the lack of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-matched donors and address the problems bedeviling traditional allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation which induces the resultant graft-versus-host disease, we designed a scheme called HLA-mismatched hematopoietic stem cell microtransplantation (MST) for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), where encouraging results were achieved. In providing answers to such questions as how to select the donors of MST and which factors were involved in the outcome of MST. One hundred thirty-one AML patients from four centers with lower or standard risk of prognosis after complete remission were given three courses of MST: high dose of cytarabine plus infusion of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor mobilized peripheral blood stem cells from HLA-mismatched donors.

Association of serum biomarker neurofilament light concentration with post-stroke depression: A preliminary study.

Objective: To investigate serum neurofilament light (sNfL) levels in acute ischemic stroke and to assess whether sNfL are related to the severity of disease and a potential prognostic marker of post-stroke depression (PSD) during a 3-month follow-up period.

Methods: This was a single-center prospective cohort study. The sNfL concentration was measured in baseline samples using the Simoa platform- Single Molecule Array technology.

The data including gender, age of onset, course of disease, site of first consulting department, time of the first visit and definite diagnosis, follow-up interval, and use of conventional disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (cDMARDs) and biological DMARDs (BioDMARDs) were collected and analyzed.

Efficacy and Acceptability of Cariprazine in Acute Exacerbation of Schizophrenia: Meta-Analysis of Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trials.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy and acceptability of cariprazine treatment in acute exacerbation of schizophrenia.

Methods: This review included randomized controlled trials of patients with acute exacerbation of schizophrenia in relation to efficacy and acceptability. The efficacy outcomes were assessed by pooling standardized mean differences (SMDs) calculated from the difference in the reduction in the mean of the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) total score, PANSS positive and negative scores, and response rate.

HLA-Mismatched Microtransplant in Older Patients Newly Diagnosed With Acute Myeloid Leukemia: Results From the Microtransplantation Interest Group.

Importance: The outcome of older patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remains unsatisfactory. Recent studies have shown that HLA-mismatched microtransplant could improve outcomes in such patients.

Objective: To evaluate outcomes in different age groups among older patients with newly diagnosed AML who receive HLA-mismatched microtransplant.

Circulating lncRNAs have been defined as a novel biomarker for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), MALAT-1 was first identified lncRNA that was related to lung cancer metastasis. However, the relationship between exosomal lncRNAs and the diagnosis and prognosis of NSCLC was poorly understood. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical significance of serum exosomal MALAT-1 as a biomarker in the metastasis of NSCLC.

Mechanism of serum miR-21 in the pathogenesis of familial and triple negative breast cancer.

The aim of this study was to clarify the mechanism of miR-21 in familial and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) by exploring the expression of serum miR-21. The sera were collected from healthy women at high risk of breast cancer. miR-39 was employed as the external reference, and real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression of serum miR-21 in 77 subjects.

Reduction of α1GABAA receptor mediated by tyrosine kinase C (PKC) phosphorylation in a mouse model of fragile X syndrome.

Fragile X syndrome (FXS) caused by lack of fragile X mental retardation protein (Fmr1) is the most common cause of inherited intellectual disability and characterized by many cognitive disturbances like attention deficit, autistic behavior, and audiogenic seizure and have region-specific altered expression of some gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABAA) receptor subunits. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot experiments were performed in the cultured cortical neurons and forebrain obtained from wild-type (WT) and Fmr1 KO mice demonstrate the reduction in the expression of α1 gamma-aminobutyric acid (α1GABAA) receptor, phospho-α1GABAA receptor, PKC and phosphor-PKC in Fmr1 KO mice comparing with WT mice, both in vivo and in vitro. Furthermore, we found that the phosphorylation of the α1GABAA receptor was mediated by PKC.

The treatment of obese patients is a topic investigated by an increasing number of researchers. This study aimed to elucidate the possible inhibitory effect of tangeritin on the development and function of fat cells. 3T3-L1 fat cells were grown to confluence and subjected to different concentrations of tangeritin.

Diagnostic and prognostic value of myeloid-related protein complex 8/14 for sepsis.

Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of myeloid-related protein complex 8/14 (MRP8/14) in septic patients in intensive care units.

Methods: Fifty-three cases of healthy people, 72 cases of systemic inflammatory response syndrome patients, 74 cases of sepsis patients, 78 cases of severe sepsis patients, and 76 cases of septic shock patients were enrolled in our hospital. Serum MRP8/14 was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and Mortality in Emergency Department Sepsis (MEDS) score was calculated at enrollment.

Up-regulation of miR-335 predicts a favorable prognosis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Introduction: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are noncoding RNAs that regulate multiple cellular processes during cancer progression. MiR-335 has recently been identified to be involved in tumorigenesis of several cancers such as ovarian cancer and gastric cancer. However, the regulation of miR-335 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) has not been reported yet.

Endoscopic Nd:YAG laser therapy combined with local chemotherapy of superficial carcinomas of the oesophagus and gastric cardia.

The aim of this study was to explore the possibilities of non-surgical management for superficial carcinomas of the oesophagus and gastric cardia. Thirty-one patients with superficial oesophageal or gastric cardiac carcinomas, who refused or were unsuitable for surgery, received endoscopic Nd:YAG laser therapy combined with local injection of chemotherapeutic drugs 5-fluorouracil and mitomycin. After one to four sessions of treatment no cancer cells were detected by multiple biopsies and no complications such as bleeding or perforation occurred in any case.
