Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury with severe cell death is a major complication involved in liver transplantation and resection. The identification of key regulators improving hepatocyte activity may provide potential strategies to clinically resolve I/R-induced injury. N-methyladenosine (mA) RNA modification is essential for tissue homeostasis and pathogenesis.

Background: Ferroptosis represents a nonapoptotic type of programmed cell death induced by excessive intracellular iron accumulation. Ferroptosis is an essential driver of the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Tetrahedral framework nucleic acids (tFNAs) are a novel type of nanoparticle with superior antiapoptotic capacity and excellent biocompatibility.

Objective: The significance of physical factors in the onset and progression of tumors has been increasingly substantiated by a multitude of studies. The extracellular matrix, a pivotal component of the tumor microenvironment, has been the subject of extensive investigation in connection with the advancement of KIRC (Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma) in recent years. PIEZO1, a mechanosensitive ion channel, has been recognized as a modulator of diverse physiological processes.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons, abnormal accumulation of α-synuclein (α-syn), and microglial activation. Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) regulates multiple functions of microglia in the brain, and several studies have shown that TREM2 variant R47H is a risk factor for PD. However, the regulation of microglia by TREM2 in PD remains poorly understood.

Acute myocardial infarction (MI) remains one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in the global communities. A prevailing topic that has attracted increasing attentions over the past few decades is the so-called heart-brain interaction, in particular following a major traumatic event such as MI. Increased prevalence of depression and other mental disorders has been recognized in cardiac patients after MI, coronary catheterization, or cardiothoracic surgeries.

The mass transport effect of aqueous micelles on antioxidants and oxidation products in emulsions may alter the rate, degree, and pathway of lipid oxidation. In this study, the dynamic mass transport of oxidation products and endogenous tocopherol during storage at different micelle concentrations was monitored by UV-vis spectrophotometry and high-performance liquid chromatography. Furthermore, the microlocalization of tocopherol in micelles was investigated using H nuclear magnetic resonance and nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy, fluorescence measurements, and molecular dynamics simulation.

The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index has been suggested as a reliable substitute to indicate insulin resistance. Several studies have identified the association between the TyG index and cardiovascular disease. However, the association between the TyG index and the incidence of myocardial ischemia in patients with minimal to moderate coronary artery disease (CAD) has not been clearly assessed.

In this study, we demonstrated the mechanism of a glioblastoma (GBM)-targeted sonodynamic therapy (SDT) strategy employing platelets loaded with a sonosensitizer based on functionalized boron nitride nanoparticles carrying chlorin e6 (BNPD-Ce6). In the in vitro study, we first found that the BNPD-Ce6-mediated sonodynamic action (SDA) induced remarkable viability loss, DNA damage, and cell death in the GBM cells (GBCs) but not macrophages. Surprisingly, the SDA-exposed GBCs displayed a ferroptotic phenotype while the SDA-exposed macrophages underwent immuno-stimulatory autophagy and potently potentiated the SDA's toxicity to the GBCs.

Background: Fluoroquinolones are broad-spectrum antibiotics with significant antimicrobial activity. Despite their therapeutic benefits, they are associated with a range of adverse drug reactions (ADRs), particularly those affecting the central nervous system (CNS). This study aimed to analyze the psychiatric ADRs linked to fluoroquinolones using data from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database.

Aims: This study aimed to develop an AI algorithm for automated HER2 scoring in urothelial bladder cancer (UBCa) and assess the interobserver agreement using both manual and AI-assisted methods based on breast cancer criteria.
Methods And Results: We utilized 330 slides from two institutions for initial AI development and selected 200 slides for the ring study, involving six pathologists (3 senior, 3 junior). Our AI algorithm achieved high accuracy in two independent tests, with accuracies of 0.

This study was aim to determine the prognostic value of triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) features for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). In addition, we investigate the incremental prognostic value of TyG index beyond coronary CTA features in patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease (CAD). The present study ultimately includes 3528 patients who met the enrollment criteria.

Background: Glioma stem cells (GSCs) are the root cause of tumorigenesis, recurrence, and therapeutic resistance in glioblastoma (GBM), the most prevalent and lethal type of primary adult brain malignancy. The exploitation of novel methods targeting GSCs is crucial for the treatment of GBM. In this study, we investigate the function of the novel ROR1-GRB2-c-Fos axis in GSCs maintenance and GBM progression.

Introduction: In order to comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of high-risk HPV-negative cervical cancer and aiming to provide certain evidence in the diagnosis and treatment of this kind of disease, the clinical and pathological characteristics of high-risk HPV-negative (hr-HPV-negative) cervical cancer was evaluated through systematic review and meta-analysis.
Methods: We employed a systematic search strategy incorporating both MeSH terms and free words across multiple databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI and Wanfang. The strategy was specifically designed to identify articles investigating risk factors or clinical characteristics of hr-HPV-negative cervical cancer.

Objective: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients frequently present with distant metastasis (DM), which is typically associated with poor prognosis. This study aims to develop and apply machine learning models to predict DM, overall survival (OS), and cancer-specific survival (CSS) in NPC patients to provide optimal tools for improved predictive accuracy and performance.
Methods: We retrieved over 8,000 NPC patient samples with associated clinical information from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

Tumor cell death induced by "cuproptosis" is a novel form of tumor death that differs from apoptosis induced by chemotherapy. It is expected to emerge as a new approach for cancer treatment. In this study, our focus was on exploiting the characteristic of "cuproptosis" which necessitates increased aerobic respiration to induce tumor cell death.

Background: A comprehensive assessment of combined modifiable risk factors in relation to infectious diseases among individuals with hypertension is lacking, and the potential mechanisms of these associations remain unclear. To investigate the prospective associations of a combination of lifestyle behaviors and cardiometabolic factors with the risk of infectious diseases among individuals with hypertension and to estimate whether and to what extent blood biomarkers mediate these associations.
Methods: This cohort study included 147,188 participants with hypertension and complete data on modifiable risk factors from the UK Biobank.
