Isolated ipsilateral ptosis associated with ventral midbrain infarction: a case report and literature review.

J Int Med Res

August 2024

Center for Rehabilitation Medicine, Department of Neurology, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital (Affiliated People's Hospital), Hangzhou Medical College, Hangzhou, China.

Documented cases of ipsilateral ptosis caused by midbrain infarction remain rare. Herein, we present a patient with isolated ipsilateral ptosis that was initially considered to be a consequence of myasthenia gravis but was subsequently attributed to ventral midbrain infarction. We also discuss the possible underlying mechanisms; ipsilateral ptosis in our patient was attributed to selective damage of the levator palpebral muscle branch of the oculomotor nerve.

BMC Cancer

May 2024

Department of Pharmaceutical Services, Ipharmacare Ltd, 2073 Jinchang Rd, Yuhang District, Hangzhou, 310030, Zhejiang, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are effective second-line treatments for advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), but the cost-effectiveness of different ICIs remains unclear in the context of the Chinese healthcare system.
  • A network meta-analysis was conducted involving five clinical trials, leading to the development of a Markov model assessing costs and outcomes, utilizing clinical trial data to determine health state probabilities.
  • The findings indicated that tislelizumab and camrelizumab provided better quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) compared to sintilimab, with significant incremental cost-effectiveness ratios, while nivolumab and pembrolizumab were less favorable in terms of QALYs and costs.

A miniature mass spectrometer (mMS) based point-of-care testing (POCT) method was evaluated for on-site detecting the hypertension drugs, amlodipine and benazepril. The instrument parameters, including voltage, ISO1, ISO2, and CID, were optimized, under which the target compounds could be well detected in MS. When these two drugs were injected simultaneously, the mutual ionization inhibition and mutual reduction between amlodipine and benazepril were evaluated.

Study on the Mechanism of miR-146a in Gingival Mesenchymal Stem Cells.

Evid Based Complement Alternat Med

November 2022

Stomatology Hospital, School of Stomatology, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Zhejiang Provincial Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, Key Laboratory of Oral Biomedical Research of Zhejiang Province, Cancer Center of Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310006, China.

This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanisms of microRNA-146a (miR-146a) on gingival mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Gingival MSCs were isolated from the gingiva tissues of patients with periodontal disease to reveal the function of miR-146a in regulating osteoblast differentiation. miR-146a inhibits osteoblast differentiation by inhibiting phosphorylated cyclic-AMP response binding (CREB) protein translocation into the nucleus and ultimately attenuating runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) expression.

Hypoxia-induced LINC00674 facilitates hepatocellular carcinoma progression by activating the NOX1/mTOR signaling pathway.

J Cancer

August 2022

The Key Laboratory of Tumor Molecular Diagnosis and Individualized Medicine of Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, Affiliated People's Hospital, Hangzhou Medical College, Hangzhou 310014, China.

The hypoxic tumor microenvironment, a fundamental feature of solid tumors, drives hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression through regulating the transcriptional activities of protein-coding and noncoding genes. However, long noncoding RNA (lncRNA)-mediated HCC progression in hypoxic microenvironment remains largely unknown yet. In this study, we found that LINC00674 was upregulated under hypoxic conditions in a HIF-1-dependent manner, and the occupancy of HIF-1 to HRE of LINC00674 gene promoter was essential for its transcription.

  • The study aimed to assess how prophylactic uterine artery embolization (UAE) affects second-trimester abortions in patients with placenta previa.
  • This retrospective review included 54 patients and compared outcomes like blood loss and the need for transfusions between those who received UAE and those who did not.
  • Results showed that UAE significantly reduced blood loss and transfusion rates in women with complete placenta previa, while it had no effect on outcomes for those with partial placenta previa.

IL-8 regulates the doxorubicin resistance of colorectal cancer cells via modulation of multidrug resistance 1 (MDR1).

Cancer Chemother Pharmacol

June 2018

Department of Gastroenterology, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, 158# Shangtang Rd, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, 310014, People's Republic of China.

Cytokines play important roles in tumorigenesis and progression of cancer cells, while their functions in drug resistance remain to be illustrated. We successfully generated doxorubicin (Dox)-resistant CRC HCT-116 and SW480 cells (namely HCT-116/Dox and SW480/Dox, respectively). Cytokine expression analysis revealed that IL-8, while not FGF-2, EGF, TGF-β, IL-6, or IL-10, was significantly increased in Dox-resistant CRC cells as compared with their corresponding parental cells.

July 2018

Key Laboratory of Tumor Molecular Diagnosis and Individualized Medicine of Zhejiang Province, Key Laboratory of Gastroenterology of Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, Hangzhou Medicine College, Hangzhou, 310014, Zhejiang, People's Republic of China.

Purpose: Aspirin could reduce the risk of cancer metastasis. Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are a key factor of cancer metastasis, but no evidence has revealed how aspirin affects CTCs and its epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Here, we conducted a clinical trial to investigate how aspirin affects CTCs in metastatic colorectal cancer (MCC) and breast cancer patients (MBC).
