Characterization of antibiotic resistance profiles in Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from burn patients.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) producing extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) and metallo-beta-lactamases (MBLs) in burn patients in Algeria.

Methods: Between April 2016 and October 2019, 47 non-redundant isolates of PA were collected from 47 burn patients admitted to the Department of Burns at the Military Hospital of Algiers in Algeria. Antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed by agar diffusion and the Phoenix automated method.

Introduction: vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VREfm) is a major public health problem worldwide. The aim of our study was to determine the microbiological, epidemiological and molecular characteristics of VREfm isolated in north-central, eastern and western Algeria.

IgD multiple myeloma: Clinical, biological features and prognostic value of the serum free light chain assay.

IgD multiple myeloma (MM) is a rare subtype of myeloma, it affects less than 2% of patients with MM. To evaluate the clinical and prognostic attributes of serum free light chains (sFLCs) analysis, we examined 17 cases of IgD MM. From 1998 to 2012, we obtained 1250 monoclonal gammapathies including 590 multiple myeloma and 17 patients had IgD MM.

NOD2/CARD15 and IL23R genetic variability in 204 Algerian Crohn's disease.

NOD2/CARD15 and IL23R gene variants play an important role in the susceptibility to Crohn's disease (CD). Studies of genotype-phenotype relationship suggest that these variants are associated with the development of the disease and specific phenotype. Preliminary reports analyzing the association between these variants have never been made on Algerian CD's.
