Gut microbiota plays an important role in regulating enteric, immune and neural pathways. Many neuropsychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, autism and cognitive behaviour are associated with gut dysbiosis. Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and short-chain fatty acids produced by gut bacteria influence gastrointestinal and neurological functions.

The Fusarium verticillioides produces a mycotoxin, that is, fumonisin b1 (Fb1), which commonly infects corn and agricultural commodities. The Fb1 showed hepatotoxicity, neurotoxicity, and carcinogenicity in animals. Hence, the present investigation aimed to evaluate the effect of apocynin (AP) on Fb1-induced neurotoxic effects and its mechanism in the mice model and cell line.

Several long-term intervention trials only studied the ex vivo immunological function to elucidate the beneficial mechanisms of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in the ulcerative colitis (UC). An unbiased whole-transcriptome analysis would be more valuable to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the processes and genes regulated by n-3 PUFA in vivo. In this study, we have performed microarray analysis in the colon tissues of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced UC in rats supplemented with n-6 PUFA, n-3PUFA and long-chain n-3PUFA (LC-n3PUFA).

Amorphous Solid Dispersions (ASDs) have indeed revolutionized the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in drug solubility enhancement. The amorphous state of a drug, which is a highenergy metastable state, can lead to an increase in the apparent solubility of the drug. This is due to the absence of a long-range molecular order, which results in higher molecular mobility and free volume, and consequently, higher solubility.

Xylooligosaccharides (XOS) obtained from lignocellulosic biomass after autohydrolysis primarily consist of lignin-derived impurities and autogenerated inhibitors like furfural, hydroxymethylfurfural, and acetic acid. In this study, graphene oxide-mediated purification (GOMP), a novel and environmentally friendly downstream processing method, was developed for the purification of XOS from hydrolysate obtained after ozone-assisted autohydrolysis of wheat bran. GOMP resulted in appreciable recovery of total XOS from the hydrolysate (73.

Oxidative stress is an imbalance between free reactive oxygen species and antioxidant defences leading to neurological and other chronic disorders. The interaction between food and gut microbiota and their metabolites significantly reduces oxidative stress and influences host physiology and metabolism. This process mainly involves enzymes that hydrolyse complex polysaccharides and produce metabolites.
