Nonpolar solvents have been reported to exhibit a nonlinear flux-pressure behavior in hydrophobic membranes. This study explored the flux-pressure relationship of six nonpolar solvents in a lab-cast hydrophobic poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) membrane and integrated the permeance behavior in the evaluation of the proposed transport model. The solvents exhibited a nonlinear relationship with the applied pressure, along with the point of permeance transition (1.

The structure function relation of Glycosaminoglycans from bovine milk (bmGAGs) has not been studied in detail. In the present study bmGAGs was isolated and structurally characterized. Chondroitin sulphate was one of the major GAGs present and had 65% of ΔDi-diSB (GlcA(2S)-GalNAc(4S)), followed by 18% of ΔDi-4S(Δ4,5HexUAα1 → 3GalNAc).

The omega-3 (n-3) polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) acid are well known to protect against numerous metabolic disorders. In view of the alarming increase in the incidence of chronic diseases, consumer interest and demand are rapidly increasing for natural dietary sources of n-3 PUFAs. Among the plant sources, seed oils from chia (), flax (), and garden cress () are now widely considered to increase α-linolenic acid (ALA) in the diet.

This study aimed to evaluate the role of spices/spice active principles on physical, biochemical, and molecular targets of bioaccessibility/bioavailability. Carotenoids-rich micellar fraction obtained through simulated digestion of green leafy vegetables (GLV) with individual or two/three combinations were correlated to their influence on bioaccessibility, cellular uptake, and basolateral secretion of carotenoids in Caco-2 cells. Results suggest that carotenoids' bioaccessibility depends on micelles physicochemical properties, which is affected due to the presence of co-treated dietary spices and their composition.

Chemoresistance is one of the major challenges in the treatment of breast cancer. Recent evidence suggests that epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) plays a critical role in not only metastasis but also in chemoresistance, hence causing tumor relapse. This study aimed to identify the hub genes associated with EMT and chemoresistance in breast cancer affecting patient/clinical survival.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease causing severe locomotor disability and deterioration in the quality of life. Existing treatments for RA mainly focus on the use of immunomodulators and the suppression of synovial inflammation, and many have significant side effects. Medicinal plants are regarded as important alternative sources for treating RA.

Aims: Diabetic population have a twofold to threefold increased risk of developing liver cancer, and hyperglycaemia is a prime causative factor that propends the tumour cells to undergo aggressive metabolic growth. In this study, we aimed to examine the molecular mechanism by which lutein inhibits hyperglycaemia-induced human hepatocarcinoma (HepG2) cell proliferation.
Methods: The effect of lutein on high glucose-induced proliferation was measured using the WST-1 reagent.

The current investigation is focused on the targeted delivery of doxorubicin through CD44 aptamer-mediated active targeting to the human breast cancer cells. CD44 aptamer-doxorubicin (Apt-Dox) conjugates were developed by incubating different molar ratios of aptamer and doxorubicin. Cytotoxicity, selective intracellular accumulation and uptake of the Apt-Dox conjugates were analyzed to evaluate the efficacy of Apt-Dox conjugates.

TP53 (tumor protein 53)-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator (TIGAR) belongs to the phosphatases family of proteins that modulates the level of reactive oxygen species in tumor cells. This protein plays a vital role as a negative regulator of glycolysis, thus lowering ROS levels in the cells, which helps the cancerous cells to resist programmed cell death. Besides, TIGAR also mediates the DNA damage repair in cancer cells by increasing tumor cell survival.
