Pathological reprogramming of cardiomyocyte and fibroblast proteome landscapes drive the initiation and progression of cardiac fibrosis. Although the secretome of dysfunctional cardiomyocytes is emerging as an important driver of pathological fibroblast reprogramming, our understanding of the downstream molecular players remains limited. Here, we show that cardiac fibroblast activation (αSMA) and oxidative stress mediated by the secretome of TGFβ-stimulated cardiomyocytes is associated with a profound reprogramming of their proteome and phosphoproteome landscape.

A novel therapy for intractable chronic cough.

Two cases of intractable chronic cough improved significantly with humidified high flow therapy (HHFT). A 59-year-old woman with Primary Sjogren's disease and interstitial lung disease, was trialled on a Fisher and Paykel myAIRVO™ system. She reported sustained benefits of uninterrupted sleep and increased socialization with tapering use of HHFT.

Co-designing an online treatment decision aid for men with low-risk prostate cancer: Navigate.

Objectives: To develop an online treatment decision aid (OTDA) to assist patients with low-risk prostate cancer (LRPC) and their partners in making treatment decisions.

Patients And Methods: , an OTDA for LRPC, was rigorously co-designed by patients with a confirmed diagnosis or at risk of LRPC and their partners, clinicians, researchers and website designers/developers. A theoretical model guided the development process.

A Novel RUNX1 Genetic Variant Identified in a Young Male with Severe Osteoporosis.

This case describes a young man with an unusual cause of severe osteoporosis and markedly deranged bone microarchitecture resulting in multiple fractures. A potentially pathogenic germline variant in the runt-related transcription factor 1 (RUNX1) gene was discovered by a focused 51-gene myeloid malignancy panel during investigation for his unexplained normochromic normocytic anemia. Further bone-specific genetic testing and a pedigree analysis were declined by the patient.

Lane-Hamilton syndrome.

The co-existence of idiopathic hemosiderosis and celiac disease is Lane-Hamilton Syndrome. This is a rare condition with only a few dozen cases reported to date. Its clinical presentation typically involves hemoptysis that can be life-threatening in the acute phase.

Prospective comprehensive profiling of immune responses to COVID-19 vaccination in patients on zanubrutinib therapy.

Zanubrutinib-treated and treatment-naïve patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) or Waldenstrom's macroglobulinaemia were recruited in this prospective study to comprehensively profile humoral and cellular immune responses to COVID-19 vaccination. Overall, 45 patients (median 72 years old) were recruited; the majority were male (71%), had CLL (76%) and were on zanubrutinib (78%). Seroconversion rates were 65% and 77% following two and three doses, respectively.

Pulmonary tumor thrombotic microangiopathy (PTTM) is a rare manifestation of malignancy. Pulmonary tumor emboli and associated fibrous intimal hyperplasia cause widespread pulmonary vascular stenosis/occlusion, which in turn increase pulmonary vascular resistance and lead to pulmonary hypertension. Gastric cancer is the most common underlying malignancy that leads to PTTM, and patients may present with dyspnea or other features of pulmonary hypertension prior to the diagnosis of cancer.

Central to fibrinolysis is the degradation of fibrin by plasmin, produced in the circulation following the activation of plasminogen by plasminogen activators (PAs). Accurately measuring the plasminogen activation rate is vital for the understanding of fibrinolytic processes, particularly in the context of thrombolysis.

Background And Aim: Nonspecific ileitis is inflammation of the ileum without specific diagnostic features. A minority may go on to develop Crohn's disease, but optimal pathways of further investigation have not been established. Background And Aim: Cold snare polypectomy is safe and efficacious for removing polyps <10 mm with reduced rates of delayed postpolypectomy bleeding and postpolypectomy syndrome. This technique can also be used for sessile polyps ≥10 mm; however, further evidence is required to establish its safety. The aim of this study was to compare intraprocedure and postprocedure adverse events in patients who underwent cold (CSP) hot snare polypectomy (HSP) of 10-20 mm sessile colonic polyps.

Background And Aim: Marked elevations of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) are caused by a limited number of underlying pathologies, including hepatic ischemia, drugs/toxins, viral hepatitis, and-rarely-autoimmune hepatitis. The aim of this study was to determine the relative incidence of pathologies resulting in ALT greater than 1000 IU/L and factors predicting clinical outcomes in an Australian cohort.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study of all adult patients with ALT levels greater than 1000 IU/L between January 2013 and December 2015 was conducted at a large teaching hospital network in Australia.

The utility of an automated and ambulatory device for detecting and differentiating epileptic and psychogenic non-epileptic seizures.

Objective: Accurate differentiation between epileptic seizures (ES) and psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) can be challenging based on history alone. Inpatient video EEG monitoring (VEM) is often needed for a definitive diagnosis. However, VEM is highly resource intensive, is of limited availability, and cannot be undertaken over long periods.

Objective: Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) is a serious health concern in the adolescent population.
