Aim Of The Study: Predictive factors for poor outcomes in hypothermic cardiac arrest (HCA) differ from those in normothermic out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of extracorporeal life support (ECLS) in HCA patients who may not be considered eligible based on the guidelines set by the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO).
Methods: A retrospective multicentre study included 127 HCA patients, divided into two groups: those meeting the ELSO eligibility criteria for ECLS, and those with at least one of the following ELSO exclusion criteria: age over 70 years, unwitnessed cardiac arrest, or asystole.

Background: Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-coated balloons (DCB) or drug-eluting stents (DES) are well-established treatments for in-stent restenosis, however little is known about the impact of vessel size on the outcomes. The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety profile of DCB versus DES in DES in-stent restenosis depending on the vessel size.
Methods: Consecutive patients with DES in-stent restenosis who underwent PCI between January 2010 and February 2018 entered the registry with a long-term follow-up.

Background: Orbital floor fractures typically manifest as eyeball mobility disorders with double vision (diplopia), enophthalmia, and infraorbital paresis. Surgical treatment of these fractures involves orbital floor reconstruction. The procedure involves freeing the trapped tissues from the lumen of the maxillary sinus and rebuilding the orbital floor.

Background: Evidence suggests that drug-coated balloons may benefit in-stent restenosis (ISR) treatment. However, the efficacy of new-generation sirolimus-coated balloon (SCB) compared with the latest generation drug-eluting stents (DESs) has not been studied in this setting.
Methods: All patients in the EASTBORNE (The All-Comers Sirolimus-Coated Balloon European Registry) and DEB-DRAGON (DEB vs Thin-DES in DES-ISR: Long Term Outcomes) registries undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention for DES-ISR were included in the study.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 has led to a wide range of clinical presentations, with respiratory symptoms being common. However, emerging evidence suggests that the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is also affected, with angiotensin-converting enzyme 2, a key receptor for SARS-CoV-2, abundantly expressed in the ileum and colon. The virus has been detected in GI tissues and fecal samples, even in cases with negative results of the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction in the respiratory tract.

Objectives: Severe acute kidney injury (AKI) requiring postoperative renal replacement therapy (RRT) is associated with increased morbidity and mortality rates following cardiac surgery. Our study aimed to analyze patients requiring postoperative RRT in a population undergoing isolated coronary artery surgery.
Methods: Following exclusions, we analyzed 124 944 consecutive patients in the Polish National Registry of Cardiac Surgical Procedures (KROK Registry), scheduled for isolated coronary artery surgery between January 2010 and December 2019.

Background: The long-term outcomes for patients with in-stent restenosis (ISR) presenting with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) are not well studied.
Aims: We aimed to investigate the outcomes for patients with drug-eluting stents (DES)-ISR and CCS undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-coated balloons (DCB) or thin strut-DES.
Methods: A total of 846 consecutive patients from the Dragon-Registry with CCS and DES-ISR who underwent PCI with thin (strut thickness <100 μm) strut-DES (381 [45%]) or paclitaxel-DCB (465 [55%]) for DES-ISR were enrolled between February 2008 and October 2021.

Cyclodextrin-based nanosponges (CDNSs) are complex macromolecular structures composed of individual cyclodextrins (CDs) and nanochannels created between cross-linked CD units and cross-linkers. Due to their unique structural and physicochemical properties, CDNSs can possess even more beneficial pharmaceutical features than single CDs. In this comprehensive review, various aspects related to CDNSs are summarized.

An unexplained condition that follows transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is platelet count reduction (PR). According to published research, patients with balloon-expandable valves (BEVs) had a greater PR than those with self-expandable valves (SEVs). The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence and clinical effects of PR following TAVI.

Purpose Of The Review: To summarize currently available data on the topic of mitral valve prolapse (MVP) and its correlation to the occurrence of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. To assess the prognostic value of several diagnostic methods such as transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance, cardiac computed tomography, electrocardiography, and electrophysiology concerning arrhythmic episodes. To explore intra and extracellular biochemistry of the cardiovascular system and its biomarkers as diagnostic tools to predict rhythm disturbances in the MVP population.

Introduction: Meniscal tears are among the most common indications for knee arthroscopy. Artificial polyurethane scaffolds have demonstrated efficacy in reducing pain and promoting the growth of normal meniscal tissue, with high absorption rates facilitating full tissue regeneration.
Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the remodeling of polyurethane meniscal implants post-reconstruction using ultrasonography.

Myocarditis remains an unknown disease with varying clinical manifestations, often leading to heart failure. The latest 2021 and 2022 guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) are the first official European documents updating knowledge on the diagnosis and treatment of myocarditis since the 2013 ESC expert consensus statement. These guidelines and new studies allow standardization and improvements to the management of myocarditis.

Background: Despite its benefits, oral anticoagulant (OAC) therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with hemorrhagic complications.
Aims: We aimed to evaluate clinical characteristics of AF patients at high risk of bleeding and the frequency of OAC use as well as identify factors that predict nonuse of OACs in these patients.
Methods: Consecutive AF patients hospitalized for urgent or planned reasons in cardiac centers were prospectively included in the registry in 2019.

: Platelet count reduction (PR) is a common but unclear phenomenon that occurs after aortic bioprosthesis valve implantation (bio-AVR). This study aimed to investigate the occurrence and clinical impact of PR in patients receiving stented, rapid deployment (RDV), or stentless bioprostheses. : 1233 adult bio-AVR patients were enrolled.

Burnout is common among physicians; it severely alters their health and has a negative impact on functioning of healthcare systems. Hypertension, increased cortisol levels, maladaptive behaviors with negative social consequences, and suboptimal quality of care have been associated with healthcare providers' burnout. As the number of patients with cancers, psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders will rise, we need new solutions to maintain physicians' health and, therefore, quality of care.

Background: Nearly 20% of patients on ticagrelor experience dyspnea, which may lead to treatment discontinuation in up to one-third of cases.
Objectives: The authors sought to evaluate the incidence, predictors, and outcomes of dyspnea-related ticagrelor discontinuation after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Methods: In the TWILIGHT (Ticagrelor With Aspirin or Alone in High-Risk Patients After Coronary Intervention) trial, after 3 months of ticagrelor plus aspirin, patients were maintained on ticagrelor and randomized to aspirin or placebo for 1 year.

Introduction: The facial nerve (FN) follows a complex route in the temporal bone. Successful temporal bone surgery requires knowledge of its course which can be achieved using imaging methods such as computed tomography. This investigation aims to analyze the FN course in its mastoid portion and second genu and the frequency of its atypical course.
