Background: Although the role of melanoma risk factors is well documented, their correlation with patients' age is less frequently analyzed.
Method: The analysis was performed among 189 melanoma patients in different age groups, including <30 years, 31-60 years, and >60 years, to investigate the risk factors, topography, and coexistence of morphological features of 209 melanomas (dermoscopic and histopathological).
Results: Among the youngest age group, no correlation with the presence of estimated risk factors was found.

Proteasome machinery is a major proteostasis control system in human cells, actively compensated upon its inhibition. To understand this compensation, we compared global protein landscapes upon the proteasome inhibition with carfilzomib, in normal fibroblasts, cells of multiple myeloma, and cancers of lung, colon, and pancreas. Molecular chaperones, autophagy, and endocytosis-related proteins are the most prominent vulnerabilities in combination with carfilzomib, while targeting of the HSP70 family chaperones HSPA1A/B most specifically sensitizes cancer cells to the proteasome inhibition.

The aim of our study was to evaluate serum progesterone levels on the day of oocyte retrieval as a promising biomarker inorder to evaluate the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome in a group with controlled ovarian hyperstimulation protocols using either gonadotropin antagonists or agonists (GnRH), compare with a natural cycle control group. Patients were divided into 3 groups (148 patients in total): control group in the natural cycle, patients treated with GnRH agonist and patients treated with GnRH antagonist. When we compared both controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) protocol groups with the control group, we found statistically higher levels of progesterone in patients after COH (control versus long protocol group: 1.

Background: Prompt reperfusion and post-resuscitation care, including targeted temperature management (TTM), improve survival in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients. To predict inhospital mortality in OHCA patients treated with TTM, the Polish Hypothermia Registry Risk Score (PHR-RS) was developed. The use of dedicated risk stratification tools may support treatment decisions.

The aim of the study was to assess the predictive value of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), its soluble receptor - sVEGF-R1/sFlt1 and endocrine gland-derived vascular endothelial growth factor (EG-VEGF) concentrations in serum and follicular fluid (FF) for ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) in women undergoing controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) protocols. Patients have been divided into 3 groups: control group on natural cycle, patients stimulated with GnRH agonist and patients stimulated with GnRH antagonist. The FF and serum concentrations of VEGF, EG-VEGF, sVEGF R1 and the expression of VEGF and EG-VEGF mRNA in GC in small and large follicles collected from patients were investigated.

Background: This multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was performed to determine whether the use of oral probiotic preparation (prOVag®) containing three Lactobacillus strains together with standard metronidazole treatment and also targeted antibiotic treatment (following the failure of metronidazole therapy) could reduce the recurrence rates of bacterial vaginosis (BV) and aerobic vaginitis (AV).
Methods: Patients at private gynaecological clinics in Poland with histories of recurrent BV/AV and current symptoms were randomly allocated to receive metronidazole and probiotic or placebo, and assessed monthly on visits II and III-V. The total number of study visits was 5-6 (I, II, II bis - if applicable, III, IV, V).

Epithelial ovarian cancer has the highest mortality of all gynecological cancers, and its progression is often without symptoms. Clinical outcome and survival may be improved if the disease is identified in the early stages. The objective of the study was to evaluate the utility of the serum biomarkers human epididymis protein 4 (HE4), soluble mesothelin-related protein (SMRP) and CA125 in the detection of ovarian cancer.

Perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEC-oma) is a rare mesenchymal neoplasm. Literature reports more than 100 cases of PEC-oma, a third of which is of uterine or uterine retroperitoneum origin. The case of a 59-year-old woman presented here is, to the best of our knowledge, the first described fast uterine PEC-oma recurrence of the tumor of the gastrointestinal tract origin.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affects approximately 5 to 10% of women of reproductive age. It is the most common reason of anovulation in infertile women. PCOS is accompanied by such conditions as oligo- or anovulation, hipertestosteronism, lower cell sensitivity to insulin, type II diabetes, hyperlipidemia and obesity.

Numerous data indicate that polymorphism of estrogen receptor alpha (ERalpha) may predict lipid levels, lipid response to hormone replacement therapy (HRT), myocardial infarction risk, bone fracture risk, bone mineral density (BMD) and changes in BMD over time. In this study we aimed to evaluate distribution of ERalpha PvuII and XbaI genotypes in population of Polish postmenopausal women qualified to different protocols of HRT. Subject of the study were 64 consecutive postmenopausal women aged from 45 to 65 years (mean 56.

Material And Methods: In the study were included 93 men--60 with stable angina, confirmed by coronarography (at least 6 months after CABG, PTCA or myocardial infraction, with EF > 40%) and 33 men without atherosclerotic changes in the coronary vessels, as the control group. The two groups were divided depending on age: the younger subgroups [under 60-ty years old--group A with CAD (n=30) and B without CAD (n=18)] and the older subgroup [over 70-ty years old group C with CAD (n=30) and D without CAD (n=15)].

In 2004 the first livebirth after cryopreserved ovarian tissue transplantation has been reported which is a turning point in fertility preservation after anticancer treatment and a result of almost 50 years of research. However transplantation of cryopreserved ovary is still experimental method and further study needs to be done on the risk of cancer cell reimplantation, this method is very promising for cancer patients who wants to preserve fertility after cancer treatment. This is a review of methods used for cryopreserved ovarian tissue.
