In this study, we aimed to holistically examine the overall stroke epidemiology in Ivano-Frankivsk using data from a secondary healthcare center in the city. Understanding the recovery process of functional abilities post-COVID-19 in older inpatients with arterial hypertension and ischemic heart disease is important for optimising healthcare delivery and resources. Participants in this study were individuals undergoing hospital-based rehabilitation following COVID-19 (average age 66, n=183). They were categorised into groups with arterial hypertension (n=92), ischemic heart disease (n=18), both conditions (n=38), and a control group without these diseases (n=35).

[Blood eosinophilia in patients with severe bronchial asthma and chronic polypous rhinosinusitis treated with dupilumab: A review].

Bronchial asthma and chronic polypous rhinosinusitis are diseases associated with a T2-inflammatory immune response. These nosologies can be combined, creating the preconditions for a more severe course of multimorbidity, requiring the use of genetic engineering biological therapy. Dupilumab is a monoclonal antibody that can specifically bind to the alpha subunit of the interleukin-4 receptor and block the action of interleukins 4 and 13, which play a key role in the development of T2 inflammation.

Uncovering the link between inflammatory rheumatic diseases and male reproductive health: a perspective on male infertility and sexual dysfunction.

Inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IRDs) refer to a range of persistent disorders that have a major influence on several physiological systems. Although there is much evidence connecting IRDs to sexual dysfunction and fertility problems, research specifically focusing on male infertility in relation to these diseases is sparse. This review addresses the complicated connection between IRDs and male infertility, emphasising the physiological, psychological, and pharmacological aspects that influence reproductive health outcomes in men with rheumatic conditions.

Respiratory virus coinfections during the COVID-19 pandemic: epidemiologic analysis and clinical outcomes from the Phase 2/3 molnupiravir trial (MOVe-OUT).

Unlabelled: This exploratory analysis assessed the incidence of respiratory viral coinfections and their impact on clinical outcomes in non-hospitalized adults with mild-to-moderate coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) treated with molnupiravir versus placebo for 5 days in the Phase 2/3 MOVe-OUT trial (NCT04575597), which took place in October 2020 to January 2021 (Phase 2, = 302) and May 2021 to October 2021 (Phase 3, = 1,433). Among 1,735 total randomized participants, 1,674 had a baseline respiratory pathogen panel (NxTAG Respiratory Pathogen Panel for the Luminex MAGPIX instrument) performed and 69 (4.1%) were coinfected with at least one additional respiratory viral pathogen.

NON-INVASIVE METHODS OF DIAGNOSTICS OF GASTRO-ESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE IN PATIENTS WITH ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE.

Objective: The aim: To determine the diagnostic value of non-invasive methods of GERD diagnosis based on questionnaire data and a diagnostic test with a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) with Rabeprazole in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD).

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: 90 patients were under observation, namely, 68 patients with coronary heart disease with concomitant essential arterial hyperten¬sion (EAH), 6 patients with coronary artery disease + arrhythmias, and 18 - others diseases. All patients were surveyed according to the GerdQ questionnaire, followed by PPI testing with Rabeprazole, and body mass index (BMI) was calculated for all the patients.

Animal-assisted therapy is a concept that incorporates intentional and regulated interactions between individuals and animals to achieve therapeutic aims.

[Laparoscopic treatment of perforated gastroduodenal ulcers].

The review is devoted to laparoscopic technology in the treatment of perforated gastroduodenal ulcers. Searching for literature data was performed in the PubMed, Google, Springer Link online library, Cochrane Systematic Review databases. We analyzed reviews, prospective and retrospective studies devoted to various strategies in the treatment of perforated peptic ulcers.

War in Ukraine: a neurosurgical perspective.

Background: The ongoing war in Ukraine leads to the destruction of critical infrastructure and the displacement of millions of civilians while the necessity for neurosurgical care has increased tremendously. The consequences of this armed conflict on the practice of neurosurgery are uncertain to date.

Methods: A cloud-based questionnaire including 10 single- and multiple-choice questions was sent through the email distribution list of the Ukrainian Neurosurgical Society and the Association of Neurosurgeons of Ukraine.

The Automatization of the Gait Analysis by the Vicon Video System: A Pilot Study.

The quality of modern measuring instruments has a strong influence on the speed of diagnosing diseases of the human musculoskeletal system. The research is focused on automatization of the method of gait analysis. The study involved six healthy subjects.

[Changes in respiratory function and physical performance in middle-aged and old inpatients recovering from COVID-19 after a rehabilitation program.].

Changes in respiratory and physical performance in geriatric inpatients recovering from COVID-19 are of interest for rehabilitation interventions. 56 inpatients (67% women), average age 64±11 years recovering from COVID-19 underwent a comprehensive rehabilitation program (16,9±3,8 days). After the rehabilitation program, the patients showed an improvement in respiratory function: voluntary breath-holding after inhalation - by 19% (p=0,006), breath-holding after exhalation - by 25% (p=0,026), lungs computed tomography (p<0,001); physical performance: handgrip strength - by 14% (p=0,083), preferred walking speed - by 80% (p=0,025); exercise tolerance: distance walked until the first signs of fatigue - by 227% (p<0,001), resting heart rate - by 1% (p=0,011).

Randomized Trial of Molnupiravir or Placebo in Patients Hospitalized with Covid-19.

BACKGROUND: Molnupiravir is an oral prodrug of β-D-N4-hydroxycytidine, active against SARS-CoV-2 in vitro and in animal models. We report data from the phase 2 component of MOVe-IN, a clinical trial evaluating molnupiravir in patients hospitalized with Covid-19. METHODS: We conducted a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind phase 2/3 trial in patients 18 years old and older requiring in-hospital treatment for laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 with symptom onset 10 or fewer days before randomization.

Radiomics and Digital Image Texture Analysis in Oncology (Review).

One of the most promising areas of diagnosis and prognosis of diseases is radiomics, a science combining radiology, mathematical modeling, and deep machine learning. The main concept of radiomics is image biomarkers (IBMs), the parameters characterizing various pathological changes and calculated based on the analysis of digital image texture. IBMs are used for quantitative assessment of digital imaging results (CT, MRI, ultrasound, PET).

[Noninvasive magnetic stimulation with endoscopic navigation for the treatment of cricopharyngeal failure in chronic critical illness].

Objective: To assess the efficacy of treatment of cricopharyngeal insufficiency in chronic critical illness caused by severe brain injury using non-invasive magnetic stimulation with endoscopic navigation.

Material And Methods: Thirty patients (19 men and 11 women, mean age 50±12 years) were studied. The exposure was carried out by a bipolar alternating magnetic field using an inductor located in the projection of the hyoid bone.

Visceral Mycoses as a Cause of Severe HIV Infection and Death.

Introduction: In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of systemic fungal infections among HIV-infected individuals. The article aimed to examine the frequency of invasive mycoses among the HIV-infected patients at the time of their urgent and/or planned admission to a specialized hospital.

Methods: The diagnostic methods used in this study involved physical examination, laboratory testing, bacteriological examination, immunological examination, molecular genetic testing, and radiological imaging.

Impact of Appendectomy on Gut Microbiota.

Considered vestigial from the classic point of view, the vermiform appendix has long been the subject of intensive studies. The recent understanding of appendix function in the context of unique architecture and bacterial complexity and density allows considering it as a safehouse for intestinal biodiversity. This review analyzes and assesses the current state of scientific knowledge regarding the role of the vermiform appendix in normal gut microbiota maintenance as a crucial factor of host homeostasis.

Cerebral toxoplasmosis in HIV-infected patients over 2015-2018 (a case study of Russia).

Cerebral toxoplasmosis is a leading cause of the central nervous system disorders in acquired immune deficiency syndrome. This study aimed to investigate the clinical course of cerebral toxoplasmosis in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected individuals. The study included 90 HIV-infected patients with cerebral toxoplasmosis, who underwent inpatient treatment.

[The efficacy of metabolic treatment in the early recovery period of patients with ischemic stroke].

Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of including cytoflavin in rehabilitation measures in the early recovery period of patients with ischemic stroke.

Material And Methods: Results of rehabilitation measures of 100 patients (50 women and 50 men, aged 18 to 85 years) in the early recovery period of ischemic stroke were analyzed. Psychological testing included NIHSS, MMSE, Rankin scale, Rivermead mobility index, exercise tolerance test.

The core objective of the EPOS2020 guideline is to provide revised, up-to-date and clear evidence-based recommendations and integrated care pathways in ARS and CRS. EPOS2020 provides an update on the literature published and studies undertaken in the eight years since the EPOS2012 position paper was published and addresses areas not extensively covered in EPOS2012 such as paediatric CRS and sinus surgery.

Prevalence of Atrophic Gastritis in Kazakhstan and the Accuracy of Pepsinogen Tests to Detect Gastric Mucosal Atrophy.

Background: Atrophic gastritis is considered precursor condition for gastric cancer. There is so far limited evidence on the performance of pepsinogens for atrophy detection in Central Asia. The aim of our study was to detect the prevalence of atrophic gastritis in the asymptomatic adult population in Kazakhstan as well as address the accuracy of pepsinogen testing in atrophy detection.

Assessment of Subject and Physician Satisfaction after Long-Term Treatment of Glabellar Lines with AbobotulinumtoxinA (Dysport/Azzalure): Primary Results of the APPEAL Noninterventional Study.

Background: Although the short- and long-term effectiveness of abobotulinumtoxinA (Dysport/Azzalure) for glabellar line (GL) treatment is well established, reporting of subject satisfaction over repeat treatment cycles is limited. The APPEAL study aimed to assess subject satisfaction with long-term GL treatment with abobotulinumtoxinA in a real-life setting.

Methods: APPEAL was a noninterventional, prospective, longitudinal study in subjects administered ≥ 3 abobotulinumtoxinA injection cycles for moderate-to-severe GL, according to routine clinical practice.
