The hydrophilic nature and resultant persistence of neonicotinoids in aquatic systems increase the exposure duration for non-target organisms. The sublethal toxicity of the neonicotinoid Thiamethoxam® spanning sub-chronic and chronic durations was investigated in Clarias batrachus, a non-target freshwater fish species. 96 h LC value of Thiamethoxam® on Clarias batrachus was 138.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to severe financial, clinical, and societal repercussions and imposed more pressure on the healthcare system of many nations. COVID-19 impacts the immune system by causing a systemic inflammatory reaction, often known as cytokine release syndrome (CRS). COVID-19 patients had elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines.

An epidemiological study was performed to determine the role of dogs and ticks infesting dogs in the transmission of Q fever in humans and animals from April 2019 to March 2020 in the northeastern hill states of India. In total, 245 pet and stray dogs irrespective of age or sex were sampled, without specific inclusion or exclusion criteria. In total, 478 ticks belonging to three species were detected, namely Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus and Hyalomma anatolicum anatolicum.

The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected the entire globe since the first isolation of SARS-CoV-2 from patients with severe respiratory illness in Wuhan, China. Although the global vaccination drive is in full swing, many cases of reinfection have also been reported after vaccination. Currently, there is a scarcity of data available on the reinfection and vaccine breakthrough infections in Iraq.

The unexpected onset smell and taste disability was being recognized as a COVID-19 related symptom. Loss of smell might occur alone or be followed by other COVID-19 symptoms, such as a dry cough, fever, headache, and shortness of breath. Other virus infections have been linked to anosmia (parainfluenza, rhinovirus, SARS, and others), affecting up to 20% of the adult population, which is much less common than SARS-CoV-2 infection.

COVID-19 has caused severe financial, clinical, and sociological consequences besides posing a burden on healthcare. Many nutritional approaches have been employed to manage the deleterious consequences of COVID-19. Among the several micronutrients, vitamin D deprivation has been linked to an increased likelihood of hospitalization of COVID-19 patients.

The emergence of the novel SARS-CoV-2 variants has led to the advocation of COVID-19 vaccine boosters by many countries. The reasons cited for the booster vaccination, such as waning immunity, immune escape due to viral evolution and suboptimal responses in immunocompromised individuals, need to be cautiously weighed against possible risks, including immune-mediated side effects, vaccine hesitancy, global vaccine inequity, and emergence of new variants in the naive population. The scientific, ethical, and economic adjudication indicates that the primary vaccination of unvaccinated masses should be prioritized over the premature booster implementation.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) has resulted in a catastrophic pandemic and severely impacted people's livelihoods worldwide. In addition, the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants has posed a severe threat to humankind. Due to the dearth of therapeutic options during the commencement of the pandemic, convalescent plasma therapy (CPT) played a significant part in the management of patients with severe form of COVID-19.

There is limited information on fluoride toxicity and risk overview on ecotoxicological risks to aquatic invertebrate populations particularly molluscan taxa. This necessitated the assessment of toxicity responses in the freshwater snail, Bellamya bengalensis exposed to environmentally relevant concentrations of sodium fluoride. Under lethal exposures (150, 200, 250, 300, 400 and 450 mg/l), the median lethal concentrations (LC) were determined to be 422.

Throughout the globe, many nations are struggling to cope with the consecutive waves of the COVID-19. Several vaccines have been employed to overcome this ongoing pandemic and are available as single and double-dose inoculations; however, homologous vaccine efficacy is being reconsidered due to the rapidly emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants. Many studies have been conducted on the heterologous prime-boost vaccine regimens and have shown good efficacy results against COVID-19.

Electron microscopy is a powerful tool to study biological samples at higher magnification. The higher magnifications achieved by the electron microscopes are helpful to the researchers to study surface morphology as well as cellular morphology of the samples. The blood sample surface morphology can be visualized at higher magnification by scanning electron microscope (SEM).

The widespread occurrence of Mercury (Hg) and its derivatives in the aquatic environment and risks to the health of local populations has necessitated investigations into its toxic effects on sessile species. The toxicity of Mercury was observed sequentially from 96 h acute exposure regime (behavioural endpoints) to chronic durations (haematological and biochemical toxicity endpoints) in Bellamya bengalensis. Time-dependent lethal endpoints for acute toxicity (LC50) of mercury i.
