Background: As part of the 2018 Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG): A Core Set of Outcome Measures for Adults with Neurologic Conditions Undergoing Rehabilitation, a Knowledge Translation (KT) Task Force was convened. The purpose of this short report was to (1) demonstrate the potential impact of a CPG KT Task Force through a practical example of efforts to implement a CPG into neurologic physical therapy practice and (2) describe the process to convene a KT Task Force and develop products (KT Toolkit) to facilitate implementation of the CPG.

Background: Treatment of acetabular dysplasia with a periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) has been shown to improve long term outcomes and is considered the gold standard in the setting of symptomatic hip dysplasia in patients younger than 35 years of age. Previous reviews have reported virtual reality (VR) to be an effective method to treat pain. This scoping review examines the state of the science for VR and pain both generally and by pain type (acute and chronic) related to types of mechanisms, dosage, effectiveness, and adverse events (AEs). Background: The Vestibular/Ocular-Motor Screening (VOMS) is a valuable component of acute (<72 hours) sports-related concussion (SRC) assessments and is increasingly used with the Immediate Post-concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing (ImPACT) instrument and the third edition of the Sport Concussion Assessment Tool (SCAT3). Research has suggested that VOMS acute postinjury scores are useful in identifying acute concussion. Purpose: To compare early outcomes of periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) with concomitant hip arthroscopy to isolated hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and chondrolabral pathology using patient-reported outcomes measurement information system (PROMIS).

Materials And Methods: Consecutive patients scheduled for PAO with concomitant hip arthroscopy (PAO + HA) or isolated hip arthroscopy (HA) between the ages of 15 and 30 years old were prospectively included in the study. Methods: Annual reports, EMBASE, and MEDLINE were queried following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to identify national arthroscopy registries reporting follow-up with a validated PROM and sample size greater than 500. Extracted data included weighted compliance in peer-reviewed publications, cumulative compliance throughout the time span of data collection, and missing-data methodologies.

There is no consensus on the optimal rehabilitation protocol after platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment for tendinopathy despite basic science studies showing the critical role of mechanical loading in the restoration of tendon structure and function posttreatment. In this article, we will review tendon mechanobiology, platelet biology, and review levels I and II Achilles tendon clinical studies paying particular attention to the role of mechanical loading in rehabilitation of injured tendons. Animal studies emphasize the synergistic effect of mechanical tendon loading and PRP to treat tendon injury while clinical studies described minimal details on loading protocols.

More than 4 million adults survive a stay in the intensive care unit each year, with many experiencing new or worsening physical disability, mental health problems, and/or cognitive impairments, known as post-intensive care syndrome (PICS). Given the prevalence and magnitude of physical impairments after critical illness, many survivors, including those recovering from COVID-19, could benefit from physical therapist services after hospital discharge. However, due to the relatively recent recognition and characterization of PICS, there may be limited awareness and understanding of PICS among physical therapists practicing in home health care and community-based settings.
