Vaccine co-administration can efficiently increase vaccination uptake and timely immunization. This study aimed to evaluate the safety of the enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccine administered alone or concurrently with other vaccines in infants 6-11 months. A total of 3,769 EV71 vaccine doses were administered to children in the active surveillance area, of which 1,909 were administered concurrently with other vaccines and 1,860 doses were administered alone.

This study delineates the enhancement of a Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) method for the amplification of the complete genome of the influenza A virus during heterosubtypic co-infection, relying on the amplification of intact gene segments. The precision of the method was assessed using all amplicons, which underwent both capillary electrophoresis and DNA sequencing. Five samples featuring co-infection of Influenza A viruses with H1N1 and H3N2 subtypes were evaluated.

Background: The relation between climate change and human health has become one of the major worldwide public health issues. However, the evidence for low-latitude plateau regions is limited, where the climate is unique and diverse with a complex geography and topography.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of ambient temperature on the mortality burden of nonaccidental deaths in Yunnan Province and to further explore its spatial heterogeneity among different regions.

Water quality, increasingly recognized for its significant impact on health, is garnering heightened attention. Previous studies were limited by the number of water quality indicators and the duration of analysis. This study assessed the drinking water quality and its associated health risk in suburban areas of Wuhan, a city in central China, from 2016 to 2021.

Investigating site-specific protein phosphorylation remains a challenging task. The present study introduces a two-step chemical derivatization method for accurate identification of phosphopeptides. Methylamine neutralizes carboxyl groups, thus reducing the adsorption of non-phosphorylated peptides during enrichment, while dimethylamine offers a cost-effective reagent for stable isotope labeling of phosphorylation sites.

Cadmium (Cd) is a harmful environmental pollutant that disrupts public health, including respiratory, digestive, and reproductive systems. In this study, male rats were exposed to CdCl at a dose of 3 mg/kg by oral for 28 days to investigate the impact on spermatogenesis. Testis tissue samples were collected after sacrifice, and piRNA expression levels were measured using piRNA microarray and qPCR.

To explore the potential the adverse outcome pathway of Gardenia Yellow (GY)-induced sensitive endpoint for nephrotoxicity, an integrated strategy was applied in the present study. Using bioinformatic analysis, based on the constructed Protein-protein interaction networks, Gene Ontology function and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analysis on the core target network were performed to illustrate the potential gene targets and signal pathways. Then, the most enriched pathway was validated with Cell counting kit-8 assays and Western blot analysis in embryonic kidney epithelial 293 cell models.

Background: A sharp rise in household consumption of disinfectants triggered by COVID-19 pandemic has generated tremendous environmental burden and risks of disinfectant emissions in the post-pandemic period. To address this emerging challenge, replacing highly hazardous disinfectants with more environmental friendly alternatives has been accepted as an inherently effective solution to environment issues posed by disinfectant emerging contaminants. However, no study has yet been done to explore the potential customers' attitudes and the market prospect of environmental friendly disinfectants until now.

Over past decades, there has been increasing geographical spread of Lassa fever (LF) cases across Nigeria and other countries in West Africa. This increase has been associated with significant morbidity and mortality despite increasing focus on the disease by both local and international scientists. Many of these studies on LF have been limited to few specialised centres in the country.

Killer-cell immunoglobulin-like receptors 2DL4 (KIR2DL4) and the human leukocyte antigen class I-G (HLA-G) display vital parts in immune responses against hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. We select four potentially functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of KIR/HLA to explore the associations between KIR2DL4/HLA-G genetic variants and HCV infection results. In the present case-control study, a total of 2225 HCV-infected high-risk subjects, including 1778 paid blood donors (PBD) and 447 drug users were consecutively recruited before treatment from 2011 to 2018.

The evidence linking sleep duration and metabolic body size phenotypes is limited, especially in young adulthood. In this study, we aimed to examine the association between sleep duration and metabolic body size phenotypes among Chinese young workers and investigate whether discrepancies exist among shift and non-shift workers. A cross-sectional study was performed between 2018 and 2019 in Wuhan, China and 7,376 young adults aged 20-35 years were included.
