Background: Stretching exercises have effects on local and widespread pain sensitivity. A dose-response relationship may exist between the analgesic effect and the intensity of stretching, such that a higher intensity of stretching may generate a larger reduction in analgesic response, but this remains to be studied. This study aimed to examine the dose-response relationship between stretching intensity and the analgesic effect.

Objectives: This study examined the impact of the Center of Healthy Aging Program (CHAP) on the cognitive function and economic burden associated with dementia.
Methods: This observational study utilised Iwaki cohort data. We included participants with mini-mental state examination (MMSE) scores and categorised them into pre- and post-CHAP groups based on their year of entry into the cohort (before 2013 or after) (index year).

Background: Stretching exercises are widely used for pain relief and show positive effects on musculoskeletal, nociplastic and neuropathic pain; the magnitude of altered pain sensitivity responses following regular stretching is currently unknown. This study aimed to investigate the effect of six weeks of regular stretching exercise on regional and widespread pain sensitivity and range of motion and the effect of stretching cessation on regional and widespread pain sensitivity and range of motion.
Methods: An experimental single-blind longitudinal repeated measures study.

Using data from the 2011-2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, this research employs a two-way fixed effects model to investigate the impact of child loss on parental mental health. The findings indicate a significant decline in mental well-being among Chinese bereaved parents aged 45 to 65, as evidenced by elevated depression scores. Mechanism analysis reveals reduced emotional support from children and increased alcohol consumption, exacerbating mental health challenges.

METTL3 and METTL14 are traditionally posited to assemble the m6A methyltransferase complex in a stoichiometric 1:1 ratio, modulating mRNA fate via m6A modifications. Nevertheless, recent investigations reveal inconsistent expression levels and prognostic significance of METTL3 and METTL14 across various tumor types, challenging their consistent functional engagement in neoplastic contexts. A pan-cancer analysis leveraging The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data has identified pronounced disparities in the expression patterns, functional roles, and correlations with tumor burden between METTL3 and METTL14, particularly in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).

Understanding the mechanisms controlling platelet function is crucial for exploring potential therapeutic targets related to atherothrombotic pathologies and primary hemostasis disorders. Our research, which focuses on the role of platelet mitochondria and Ca2+ fluxes in platelet activation, the formation of the procoagulant phenotype, and thrombosis, has significant implications for the development of new therapeutic strategies. Traditionally, Ca-dependent cellular signaling has been recognized as a determinant process throughout the platelet activation, controlled primarily by store-operated Ca entry and the PLC-PKC signaling pathway.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) presents a five-year survival rate below 20%, underscoring the need for improved prognostic markers. Our study analyzed ESCC-specific datasets to identify consistently differentially expressed genes. A Venn analysis followed by gene network interactions revealed 23 key genes, from which we built a prognostic model using the COX algorithm ( = 0.

Objective: Olfactory and gustatory functions are important sensory aspects in humans. Although they are believed to influence each other, their interrelationship is not well understood. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between the olfactory and gustatory functions based on the results of a large-scale epidemiological study (Iwaki Health Promotion Project) of the general local population.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) accounts for over 90% of total in China, and the five-year survival rate for patients is less than 30%. Accordingly, the identification of novel, effective early diagnosis markers and therapeutic targets for ESCC is of paramount importance. KIFC1 has been identified as highly expressed in several types of cancer, although its prognostic value is inconsistent, and no research has been conducted specifically on its effect on ESCC.

Renal clear cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the world's most common form of cancer. Up to a third will develop metastases; the 5-year survival rate of the patients was only 14%. Practical prognostic markers remain to be discovered.

A novel treatment method for achalasia of the esophagus and related disorders is known as peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM). This study aimed to calculate the resting energy expenditure (REE) and evaluated the degree of physical invasiveness based on metabolic changes during the perioperative period of POEM. Fifty-eight patients who underwent POEM were prospectively enrolled; REE, body weight (BW), and basal energy expenditure were measured on the day of POEM, postoperative day 1 (POD 1), and three days after POEM (POD 3).

Early disease detection and prevention methods based on effective interventions are gaining attention worldwide. Progress in precision medicine has revealed that substantial heterogeneity exists in health data at the individual level and that complex health factors are involved in chronic disease development. Machine-learning techniques have enabled precise personal-level disease prediction by capturing individual differences in multivariate data.

Recently, the importance of achieving clinical and deep remissions with mucosal healing (MH) has been demonstrated as a therapeutic goal to avoid Crohn's disease (CD) surgical operations. Although ileocolonoscopy (CS) is considered the gold standard, there are increasing reports on the benefits of capsule endoscopy (CE) and serum leucine-rich α2-glycoprotein (LRG) for evaluating small-bowel lesions in CD. We evaluated the data of 20 patients with CD who underwent CE in our department between July 2020 and June 2021 and whose serum LRG level was measured within 2 months.

Background: As the core of a health-care team, nurses play a key role in promoting community health, and their job involves witnessing human suffering and pain in health-care settings. The present study aimed to evaluate the correlations between resilience coping strategies, and the underlying factors in the nurses working in COVID-19 hospitals.
Materials And Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted on 320 nurses working in COVID-19 wards for a minimum of 6 months in 2021.

To promote health awareness and improve life expectancy in Hirosaki, a Japanese rural area, the Center of Healthy Aging Program (CHAP) was founded in 2013. The most important characteristic of CHAP is a personalized interview just after the checkup to discuss individual results. We evaluated the clinical and economic effects of CHAP by analyzing the cohort data of voluntary participants from annual health checkups since 2005 in the Iwaki district of Hirosaki.
