ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

October 2024

Engineering Research Center of Energy Storage Materials and Devices, Ministry of Education, School of Chemistry, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an 710049, P. R. China.

Rechargeable aluminum batteries (RAB) are a promising energy storage system with high safety, long cycle life, and low cost. However, the strong corrosiveness of chloroaluminate ionic liquid electrolytes (ILEs) severely limits the development of RAB separators. Herein, a nonsolvent-induced phase separation strategy was applied to fabricate the pPAN (poly(vinyl alcohol)-modified polyacrylonitrile) separator, which exhibits prominent chemical and electrochemical stability in ILEs.

The rational design of porous covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with high conductivity and reversible redox activity is the key to improving their performance in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Herein, we report a series of COFs (FPDC-TPA-COF, FPDC-TPB-COF, and FPDC-TPT-COF) based on an organosulfur linker, (trioxocyclohexane-triylidene)tris(dithiole-diylylidene))hexabenzaldehyde (FPDC). These COFs feature two-dimensional crystalline structures, high porosity, good conductivity, and densely packed redox-active sites, making them suitable for energy storage devices.

Enhancing Carrier Behavior via Controlled Molecular Film Formation Engineering Leads to Significant Improvement in Electroluminescence.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

September 2024

Zhejiang Provincial Engineering Research Center of Energy Optoelectronic Materials and Devices, Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ningbo, 315201, P.R. China.

Article Synopsis
  • The quality of organic thin films impacts carrier dynamics in organic semiconductors, where small voids allow moisture to create charge traps that reduce carrier mobility.
  • While much research has focused on non-doped films, there is insufficient understanding of these traps in doped films, signaling a need for improved molecular design strategies.
  • The proposed molecular design introduces "nano-cluster" structures in doped films that enhance performance by reducing defects and improving carrier injection, leading to significantly higher efficiency in TADF-OLED devices.

January 2025

School of Energy and Environmental Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing 100083, China; Beijing Higher Institution Engineering Research Center of Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing 100083, China. Electronic address:

Transition metal-based nanoparticles (NPs) are emerging as potential alternatives to platinum for catalyzing the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in zinc-air batteries (ZAB). However, the simultaneous coexistence of single-atom moieties in the preparation of NPs is inevitable, and the structural complexity of catalysts poses a great challenge to identifying the true active site. Herein, by employing in situ and ex situ XAS analysis, we demonstrate the coexistence of single-atom moieties and iron phosphide NPs in the N, P co-doped porous carbon (in short, Fe-N-FeP NPs/NPC), and identify that ORR predominantly proceeds via the atomic-dispersed Fe-N sites, while the presence of FeP NPs exerts an inhibitory effect by decreasing the site utilization and impeding mass transfer of reactants.
