Bariatric surgery is known to induce weight loss and diabetes remission in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), but the exact mechanism of glycemic normalization needs to be defined. The study included patients with BMI ≥ 35 kg/m, obesity history ≥ 10 years, and planned bariatric surgery. At baseline and 3 and 6 months after surgery, all patients underwent anthropometric measurements, body composition and blood tests (including insulin, glucagon, and incretins during oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT)), and hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp tests.

Background: Traditional transradial access (TRA) is widely used for coronary and non-coronary interventions with significant improvements in procedural outcomes; however, it is associated with RAO that precludes repeat use of the same artery for possible future TRI and other purposes. Distal radial access (DRA) has been proposed as an effective alternative to decrease RAO rates. Published literature describing the RAO rate after DRA versus TRA from various RCT and clinical registries has shown conflicting results.

Classification of pain syndromes is quite multifaceted. However, pathogenetic classification by which chronic pain syndromes are usually divided into nociceptive, neuropathic and psychogenic, is crucial in choosing treatment tactics. In modern classifications, psychogenic pain is distinguished from nociceptive pain (associated with direct tissue injury or damage) and neuropathic pain (in which lesion can only be determined morphologically).

In selected cases, when STEMI caused by mild or moderate degree lesion with a large concomitant thrombus, additional OCT-guided PCI strategy after thrombus removal allows us to defer stenting with the follow-up natural healing of the vessel wall.

The authors developed a global chronic total occlusion crossing algorithm following 10 steps: 1) dual angiography; 2) careful angiographic review focusing on proximal cap morphology, occlusion segment, distal vessel quality, and collateral circulation; 3) approaching proximal cap ambiguity using intravascular ultrasound, retrograde, and move-the-cap techniques; 4) approaching poor distal vessel quality using the retrograde approach and bifurcation at the distal cap by use of a dual-lumen catheter and intravascular ultrasound; 5) feasibility of retrograde crossing through grafts and septal and epicardial collateral vessels; 6) antegrade wiring strategies; 7) retrograde approach; 8) changing strategy when failing to achieve progress; 9) considering performing an investment procedure if crossing attempts fail; and 10) stopping when reaching high radiation or contrast dose or in case of long procedural time, occurrence of a serious complication, operator and patient fatigue, or lack of expertise or equipment. This algorithm can improve outcomes and expand discussion, research, and collaboration.

Purpose: There are only a small number of studies providing a comparison between SADI-S and Hess-Marceau's BPD/Duodenal Switch (RY-DS) operations. We aimed to compare 5-year results of SADI-S 250 (common limb 250 cm) with RY-DS.

Material And Methods: Data of patients who underwent open SADI-S (n 226) and RY-DS (n 528) were retrospectively studied.

Aims: To compare glucose - lowering and weight reduction capacity of bypass operations (gastric bypass (GB), biliopancreatic diversion (BPD) vs GLP-1 agonist liraglutide 3.0 mg (models of maximum incretin effect) for 6 months.

Materials And Methods: 46 patients with type 2 diabetes and long history (≥10 years) of obesity were divided into 2 groups: surgery - group (n=23) and liraglutide - group (n=23), where liraglutide 3.

Background: The benefits of invasive versus noninvasive management in oncology patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) are unclear. We aimed to retrospectively determine outcome differences between conservative and invasive management of AMI in cancer patients.

Methods: Patients from our institution between March 2016 and December 2018 with type 1 and type 2 AMI (excluding STEMI) were classified into 2 groups: medical therapy only and invasive strategies.

Obesity is a high-risk factor for such comorbidities as cardiovascular disease, several types of cancer, and type 2 diabetes; however not all individuals with obesity have such complications. Approximately 20% of individuals with obesity are metabolically healthy. This study focused on differences between obese individuals with and without type 2 diabetes (T2D+ and T2D-, respectively) on the transcriptome level.

Background: Wilson's disease (WD) is a rare inherited disorder caused by mutations in the ATP7B gene resulting in copper accumulation in different organs. However, data on ATP7B mutation spectrum in Russia and worldwide are insufficient and contradictory. The objective of the present study was estimation of the frequency of ATP7B gene mutations in the Russian population of WD patients.

Aim: to assess immediate and long-term results of coronary angioplasty and stenting in patients older than 80 years - a high risk group in view of the severity of concomitant pathology and extent of coronary atherosclerosis.

Material And Methods: We conducted retrospective analysis of data from 167 patients older than 80 years (mean age 81.43+/-2.

Late radial artery (RA) thrombosis occurs in 3-9% after transradial interventions. RA occlusion has made this approach unsuitable for repeat interventions and obviated the need for alternative vascular access for catheterization, e.g.

Background: Bulimia nervosa (BN) is an eating disorder, characterized by consumption of huge amounts of food during discrete periods. Unlike patients with binge-eating disorder (BED), patients with BN demonstrate elements of compensatory "purging" behavior to prevent weight gain and obesity: i.e.
