Objective: Biofilms are involved in failure of root canal treatment due to their high resistance to antimicrobial agents, which make their removal as a big challenge. The present study aims at utilizing hydrogen peroxide (HP) plus high frequency laser reinforced antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (a-PDT) as a complementary therapy against Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) at planktonic and biofilm stages.

Background: When dental patients seek care, treatments are not always successful, that is patients' oral health problems are not always eliminated or substantially reduced. Identifying these patients (treatment non-responders) is essential for clinical decision-making. Group-based trajectory modeling (GBTM) is rarely used in dentistry, but a promising statistical technique to identify non-responders in particular and clinical distinct patient groups in general in longitudinal data sets.

Objective: Establishing biocompatible, biodegradable, osteoconductive, and osteoinductive bone materials remains a challenging subject in the research of bone healing and bone regeneration. Previously, we demonstrated the osteogenic and osteoconductive effects of biomimetic calcium phosphate (BioCaP) incorporating with Icariin and/or bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) at orthotopic sites.
Methods: By implanting the BioCaP granules incorporated Icariin and/or BMP-2 into the dorsal subcutaneous pockets of adult male Sprague-Dawley (S-D) rats (6-7 weeks old), we investigated the osteoinductive efficacy of the samples.

There are reports in the literature of interrelationships between chronic kidney disease and periodontitis pathophysiology; similar risk factors play a role in these conditions. Due to chronic kidney disease (CKD), patients on hemodialysis (HD) are more susceptible to developing pathological processes in the gingiva, periodontium, and oral mucosa. This study aimed to evaluate the condition of the oral cavity, with particular attention to lesions of the oral mucosa of patients with end-stage renal disease in Poland, West Pomeranian Voivodship.

Background: Gingival recessions are common mucogingival deformities and conditions around teeth, which are described as the apical migration of tissues in the relation to the cementoenamel junction. One of the types of graft materials used to treat these recessions is the collagen graft material. The aim of this pilot study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of the collagen matrix combined with the coronally advanced flap surgery method to cover dental recessions, after a 12 month follow-up period.

Repair of old composite restorations is a conservative approach. This study sought to compare the effects of two adhesive systems on the bond strength of repaired composites prepared by three different surface treatments: erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Er:YAG) laser irradiation, air-abrasion, and bur preparation. Eight microhybrid (Polofil Supra, VOCO, Germany) composite resin blocks were fabricated.

Oral health problems and the emergence of antimicrobial resistance among pathogenic bacterial strains have become major global challenges and are essential elements that negatively affect general well-being. Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (APDT) is based on a light source and oxygen that activates a nontoxic photosensitizer, resulting in microbial destruction. Synthetic and natural products can be used to help the APDT against oral microorganisms.
