Objectives: The purpose of this in-vitro study was to determine and compare the shortest period needed for a triple antibiotic paste (TAP) and calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)) plus 2% chlorhexidine (CHX) to eradicate the biofilm of Enterococcus (EF) from the root canal system.
Materials And Methods: Sixty-five extracted single-rooted human teeth with straight root canals were selected. The crowns were cut from the cementoenamel junction (CEJ), and canal preparations were done by step-back technique.

Successful anesthesia is a major concern in during pulpotomy treatment. The aim of this study was to compare the anesthetic efficacy of inferior alveolar nerve block using 2% lidocaine and buccal infiltration using 4% articaine for pulpotomy of mandibular primary second molars. This randomized cross-over clinical trial was performed in 23 children (five to eight-year-old) from July through November 2016, referred to the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Tehran University of Medical Sciences who needed pulpotomy treatment in both mandibular primary second molars.

Background And Aims: Data are limited about the effect of ceramic primers on the bond of zirconia to restorative resin composite. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of different surface treatments and two ceramic primers on shear bond strength (SBS) of zirconia to restorative resin composite.
Materials And Methods: 100 samples of zirconium ceramic blocks were randomly divided into 5 groups (n = 20) and received the following surface treatments: a)Control groupb)ALO abrasionc)Nd:YAG laserd)Er:YAG lasere)Bur preparation.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare prospective head motion correction and motion tracking abilities of two tracking systems: Active NMR field probes and a Moiré phase tracking camera system using an optical marker.
Methods: Both tracking systems were used simultaneously on human subjects. The prospective head motion correction was compared in an MP2RAGE and a gradient echo sequence.

The present in vitro study evaluated the recurrence rate of caries following cavity preparations with bur (conventional technique) and irradiation by Erbium:Yttrium- Aluminum-Garnet (Er:YAG) laser through micro hardness test. A total of 72 human extracted molars were randomly divided into 3 groups and class 5 cavities were prepared on them with 3 different methods: G1) conventional bur, G2) Er:YAG laser irradiation alone and G3) laser irradiation + laser treatment. The specimens were immersed in the artificial caries solution with pH of 2.

Background: Reduction of the soft tissue is an unavoidable consequence of tooth extraction without appropriate measures of Alveolar Ridge Preservation (ARP).
Objectives: The objective of this study is the volumetric investigation of the dimensional change of the soft tissue post tooth extraction to compare an Alveolar Ridge Preservation (ARP) measure with the insertion of a combination material with a collagen cone to fill the alveolus, combined with a collagen membrane, with untreated extraction alveoli.
Methods: In the context of a randomized clinical trial, 31 patients were treated with the combination material directly post tooth extraction in the maxilla (ARP).

This study investigated the effect of Er:YAG (smart 2940 Dplus, DEKA, Italy) and Er:CrYSGG (Waterlase iPlus, Biolase, USA) lasers on the shear bond strength (SBS) between the orthodontic brackets and dental porcelain in comparison with conventional acid etching with 9% hydrofluoric acid (HF, Ultradent, USA). A total of 60 specimens of maxillary incisor crown were prepared and randomly assigned to five groups; each group was subjected to a different porcelain surface conditioning: (1) etching with the 9% HF for 2 min; (2) etching with the 9% HF for 2 min followed by irradiation with the Er:CrYSGG laser (3-W power, 10-Hz frequency for 10 s); (3) etching with the 9% HF for 2 min followed by irradiation with the Er:YAG laser (3-W power, 10-Hz frequency for 10 s); (4) Irradiation with the Er:CrYSGG laser (3-W power, 10-Hz frequency for 10 s without acid etching) and (5) irradiation with the Er:YAG laser (3-W power,10-Hz frequency for 10 s without acid etching). After using Transbond XT primer and Transbond XT adhesive, the metal brackets (Dentaurum, Germany equilibrium 2, optimal design) bonded to the conditioned porcelain surface.

Background: It has clearly been demonstrated that Enterococcus faecalis, as a persistent microorganism, is the major agent in the etiopatogeny of endodontic infections. Recently, the limitations of conventional endodontic therapy have given rise to many attempts to introduce antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) as an alternative treatment. The aim of this study was to analyze the ex vivo effect of aPDT in combination with 2.

Hyperostosis Cranialis Interna (HCI) is a rare bone disorder characterized by progressive intracranial bone overgrowth at the skull. Here we identified by whole-exome sequencing a dominant mutation (L441R) in SLC39A14 (ZIP14). We show that L441R ZIP14 is no longer trafficked towards the plasma membrane and excessively accumulates intracellular zinc, resulting in hyper-activation of cAMP-CREB and NFAT signaling.

Osteonecrosis of the jaws (ONJ) in osteoporosis patients has been defined as rare, but the number of reported cases is increasing. We report a case of delayed ONJ diagnosis in a patient, who was being treated with alendronate, developing bone alterations both in maxilla and in mandible. Underestimation of ONJ incidence and missed or delayed ONJ diagnosis in osteoporosis patients might derive from lack of awareness of health providers as well as from an ONJ definition that is too restricted.

Objectives: Odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) presents considerable variation in aggressiveness and propensity for recurrence, yet hitherto, no explicit clinicopathological features have been determined to clearly demonstrate the potential for relapse. This retrospective study aims to investigate the prognostic relevance of various clinicopathological features as well as immunoexpression of COX-2, bcl-2, PCNA, and p53 in sporadic OKC.
Materials And Methods: Among 41 patients with OKC treated by enucleation, the frequency of recurrence for various clinicopathological features as well as immunoexpression for COX-2, bcl-2, PCNA, and p53 was evaluated.
