Objectives: This in-vitro study aimed to compare the push-out bond strength of composite resin posts packed into the root canal of primary anterior teeth using two different layering techniques.
Materials And Methods: Thirty-two primary anterior teeth were randomly divided into two groups. In group 1, after the preparation of post spaces, a posterior composite resin (Filtek P60) was packed in three horizontal layers by a composite condenser instrument with a cylindrical tip using the horizontal layering technique (HLT).

Laser irradiation of dentin surface can affect its surface topography and roughness. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is among the most efficient tools for determination of surface topography of natural biomolecules in nano-scales. Surface roughness affects plaque retention especially in the cervical region.

Investigations have demonstrated that fluoride is an essential element in preventive dentistry. However, there are still controversies about the preventive effects of various kinds of laser. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of diode laser irradiation (810 nm) with or without fluoride therapy in the prevention of deciduous enamel demineralization.

Resistant infections essentially cause mortality in a burn unit. Several bacteria contribute to burn infections; among these, majorly contributes to these infections revealing significant drug resistance. Similar to other bacteria, reveals various mechanisms to attain highest pathogenicity and resistance; among these, efflux pumps and quorum sensing are crucial.

This study aimed to compare the effects of diode and Er:YAG laser irradiation of root dentin on push-out bond strength of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and calcium-enriched mixture (CEM) cements. An in vitro experimental study was conducted on 90 dentin discs, cut out of freshly extracted human teeth. The discs were instrumented to obtain 1.

Because of its importance in the development of peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis, detection of residual excess cement (REC) is often the focus of studies addressing cement-retained implant-supported restorations. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of laser fluorescence (DIAGNOdent) for detecting residual excess zinc oxidebased cement around dental implants. In this in vitro study, 15 tissue-level implants were embedded in acrylic resin.

Objective: For correct implant planning based on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), the bone contour must be accurately determined. Identification of the contour is difficult in bones with incomplete mineralization. In this clinical study, we investigated the intrapersonal and interpersonal reproducibilities of manual bone contour determination on CBCT images using a semi-automated computerized process.

Background: To assess oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) after long-term (20 years) periodontal treatment in patients with chronic periodontitis (ChP) and to compare it with the current clinical outcome and oral health status.
Methods: Twenty years after therapy, 63 patients were reexamined. The dental and periodontal status and OHRQoL using the Oral Health Impact Profile-G49 (OHIP-G49) were assessed.

Aim: The aim of this meta-review was to evaluate whether there is a meaningful clinical benefit regarding the use of systemic adjunctive antibiotics in the treatment of patients with periodontitis. Additionally, a consensus regarding possible recommendations for future administration of antibiotics should be reached.
Methods: A structured literature search was performed by two independent investigators focusing on systematic reviews (SR) covering adjunctive systemic antibiosis during non-surgical periodontal therapy.

Objectives: To compare oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in patients with either molar replacement by partial removable dental prostheses (PRDP) or with restored shortened dental arches (SDA) over a period of 10 years.
Methods: In this multi-center RCT, a consecutive sample of 215 patients with bilateral molar loss in at least one jaw was initially recruited in 14 prosthodontic departments. Of those patients, 150 could be randomly allocated to the treatment groups (SDA: n = 71; PRDP: n = 79), received the allocated treatment, and were available for follow-up assessments.

Background: During antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) in the treatment of endodontic intracanal infection, it is extremely likely that microorganisms would be exposed to sub-lethal doses of PDT (sPDT). Although sPDT would not result in microorganism death, it can considerably influence microbial virulence. This study evaluated the effect of sPDT on gene expression of Enterococci surface protein (esp) as a major virulence factor for biofilm formation in Enterococcus faecalis.

Background: Evidence on the protecting effect of laser on bleached enamel is scarce and controversial. Therefore, we aimed to test for the first time whether different wavelengths of diode laser (810 and 980 nm) can prevent enamel surface corrosion. We also tested for the first time whether such therapeutic effects of laser are limited to specific "laser-activated" bleaching gels or both conventional and laser-activated gels.

Purpose: Resorption of the alveolar bone is an unavoidable consequence of tooth extraction when appropriate alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) measures are not taken. The objective of this trial was to test the hypothesis that dimensional changes in the alveolar bone after tooth extraction would be reduced by inserting an equine collagen membrane and a collagen cone to fill and seal the alveolus (as ARP), in comparison to extraction with untreated alveoli.
Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 31 patients were directly treated with the collagen material after extraction of a tooth from the maxilla (the ARP group).

Aim: To assess tooth loss in periodontally compromised patients 20 years after active periodontal therapy (APT) and to detect potential influencing factors for tooth loss on patient level.
Material And Methods: From a total of 100 patients, who were re-evaluated ten years after APT, 70 could be re-examined 20 years ± 12 months after APT. Tooth loss during 20 years was detected and based on regression analyses the impact of patient-levelled factors was estimated.

Objectives: Periodontitis is an inflammation of periodontal tissues that is caused by the biofilm of periodontal pathogens. () is an opportunistic periodontopathogen that can be the cause of periodontal diseases via fimbriae as a virulence factor. In this study, we aimed to determine the expression level of gene as a virulence factor associated with biofilm formation after antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) as a relatively new therapeutic modality.
