In a patient after implantation of a metal screw implant into the bone with suturing of the soft tissues above it after 6 months there was a spontaneous delimitation of the product by a thin strip of compact bone tissue, most likely formed from the bone structures damaged during the operation. Small bone fragments formed during the preparation of the implantation bed were found in the tissues as homogeneous eosinophilic deposits without inflammation and macrophage reactions.

The influence of patient-specific factors such as medical conditions, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) or levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) on periodontal diseases is frequently discussed in the literature. Therefore, the aim of this retrospective cross-sectional study was to evaluate potential associations between radiographic bone loss (RBL) and patient-specific risk factors, particularly LDL-C and 25OHD levels. Patients from a dental practice, who received full-mouth cone beam CTs (CBCTs) and blood-sampling in the course of implant treatment planning, were included in this study.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers installed dental implants in rabbit tibias and compared the outcomes between those treated with MSC EVs and those without, observing significant increases in bone density (47.2%) at 3 days post-implantation in the MSC EV group.
  • * By day 10, nearly complete fusion of the implant with bone was noted in the MSC EV treated group, while the control group displayed varying levels of osseointegration, indicating that MSC EVs enhance healing and integration of dental implants.

Multipotent Stromal Cell Extracellular Vesicle Distribution in Distant Organs after Introduction into a Bone Tissue Defect of a Limb.

Life (Basel)

April 2021

The Center of New Medical Technologies, Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine, The Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch, Akademika Lavrenteva str., 8, 630090 Novosibirsk, Russia.

When administered intravenously, extracellular vesicles derived from multipotent stromal cells (MSC EVs) immediately pass through the lungs along with the blood and regularly spread to all organs. When administered intraperitoneally, they are absorbed either into the blood or into the lymph and are quickly disseminated throughout the body. The possibility of generalized spread of MSC EVs to distant organs in case of local intratissular administration remains unexplored.

In this paper, the images of sliced sections or CT sections of the specimen of teeth, jaw and prosthesis were processed by a computer image analysing system, and the plane shape of the 3-D objects of interest on the sections was converted into digital images using a special software module for contour analysing. Then the images were adjusted in scale, modified in coordinates and smoothed in shape, and the data format was transferred for finite-element analysis by a specially designed software. In such ways a method for the digital modelling of the 3-D shape of teeth, jaw and prosthesis was successfully established.
