Background: Patellofemoral instability may lead to osteoarthritis, anterior knee pain, and patellar luxation. The purpose of this study was to conduct an exploratory investigation into the difference of patellar kinematics of healthy knees during extension/flexion cycles in neutral, varus and valgus alignment.

Background: Assessing femoral version in orthopedic surgery is important for preoperative planning of total hip arthroplasty, especially for recognizing excessive anteversion or retroversion. The present study addressed the following: (1) Is the position of the lesser trochanter correlated to the femoral neck axis? (2) If so, may femoral version be assessed by means of plain pelvic radiographs?

Methods: Three-dimensional computed tomography scans of 60 patients undergoing minimally invasive cement-free total hip arthroplasty were retrospectively analyzed, particularly with regard to the relation between the femoral neck axis and the lesser trochanter, the femoral version, and the size of the projected lesser trochanter in different rotational positions. Based on linear regression, a biomathematical formula was developed to assess femoral anteversion on plain radiographs depending on the visible part of the lesser trochanter.

Purpose: Reconstructing the natural joint line in knee revision surgery improves clinical and functional outcome but may be challenging when both cartilage and bone were removed during previous operations. Assessing joint lines (JLs) by means of bony landmarks is inadvisable because of large variations in human anatomy. To determine the relationship between pelvic organ prolapse and spinal curvature changes, a cross-sectional study was done in Gynecologic and Obstetrics educational hospitals and clinics in North West of Iran. One hundred patients were classified as cases based on the presence of abnormality at the spinal curvature and 100 patients classified as controls with no abnormality. The POP-Q (pelvic organ prolapse quantitation) staging system was used for assessment of prolapse stage and a flexi-curve malleable rod for measurement of thoracic and lumbar length and width, respectively.

Aim: This article reviews the relationship between the control of post-prandial hyperglycemia and diabetes-related complications.

Data Synthesis: Hyperglycemia is a modifiable risk factor that has a deleterious effect on the development and progression of microvascular and macrovascular complications in patients with type 2 diabetes. The UK Prospective Diabetes Study revealed how reductions in hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) correlate with a significant reduction in all-cause mortality and the incidence of myocardial infarction.
