Patient-generated health data (PGHD) is the person's health-related data collected outside the clinical environment. Integrating this data into the electronic health record (EHR) supports better patient-provider communication and shared decision-making, empowering patients to actively manage their health conditions. In this study, we investigated the essential features needed for patients and healthcare providers to effectively integrate PGHD functionality into the EHR system.

Introduction: Recognizing the positive impact of movement and positions on labor progression and maternal and neonatal outcomes, there is a strong recommendation to empower women for active labor during antenatal education. This study investigates nurse-midwives' interventions in empowering women for active labor, during antenatal education within primary healthcare settings.
Methods: A qualitative descriptive study was conducted in Primary Healthcare Units that provide antenatal education for childbirth in Portugal.

A panel of primary care and diabetes specialists conducted focused literature searches on the current role of glycaemic control in the management of type 2 diabetes and revisited the evolution of evidence supporting the importance of early and intensive blood glucose control as a central strategy to reduce the risk of adverse long-term outcomes. The optimal approach to type 2 diabetes management has evolved over time as the evidence base has expanded from data from trials that established the role of optimising glycaemic control to recent data from cardiovascular outcomes trials (CVOTs) demonstrating organ-protective effects of newer glucose-lowering drugs (GLDs). The results from these CVOTs were derived mainly from people with type 2 diabetes and prior cardiovascular and kidney disease or multiple risk factors.

Background: The Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) pandemic has created a lot of devastation over the last four decades and continues to be a public health threat. Anti-retroviral treatment (ART), a group of medications that people who have been diagnosed with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection take, has been shown to be efficacious and has significantly improved the fight against the disease. In Ghana, women carry a higher prevalence and incidence of HIV.

Background: Malnutrition remains a pressing public health concern for mothers and children in South Africa. Despite the government's multisectoral response, unaddressed social needs prevent some mothers getting full benefit from interventions, spanning financial planning, income stability, housing, access to government services, social support, and provision of affordable, nutritious foods. Engaging with mothers and prioritising their concerns is important if we wish to overcome obstacles to women benefiting from government nutrition interventions.

We aimed to examine the support needs of women who migrated to Fukushima Prefecture after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. In recent years, the presence of migrants has become an important part of the government's reconstruction policy for affected areas. However, there is insufficient research on the status of migrants in these areas, and it is unclear what kind of support the migrants, especially females, require to encourage further migration to the area.

While national statistics report a seemingly low youth unemployment rate, a closer look reveals a dominance of underemployment, particularly within the informal sector, and there exists a critical gap regarding the effectiveness of government intervention design to address this challenge. The objective of this paper is to study the effect of the Tree Year Special Youth Plan (TYSYP) on enterprise viability and the improvement of youth employability in the rural sector of Cameroon. This highlights the urgency of addressing this issue in Africa, particularly considering the high rates of youth underemployment in rural areas.

Background: Women's health and well-being (WHW) have been receiving growing attention, but limited progress has been made on how to measure its different domains in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). We used data from five long-term birth cohorts in Brazil, Guatemala, the Philippines and South Africa to explore different domains of adult WHW, and how these domains relate to early life exposures.
Methods: Based upon an a priori conceptualisation of eight postulated WHW outcomes available in the data, we grouped them as follows: human capital (intelligence quotient, schooling, height, and teenage childbearing), metabolic health (body mass index and metabolic syndrome score), and psychological (happiness and Self-Reported Questionnaire (SRQ) scores).

Background: The training of peer supporters is critical because the success of the entire peer support intervention depends on the knowledge and experience that peer supporters can share with other patients. The objective of this study was to evaluate the pilot implementation of a specialist nurse-led self-management training programme for peer supporters with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with or without comorbid hypertension (HTN) at the primary healthcare level in Slovenia, in terms of feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness.
Methods: A prospective pre-post interventional pilot study was conducted in two Community Health Centres (CHC) in Slovenia from May 2021 to August 2022.

Background: The objective of this study was to investigate the associations between women's education and access to skilled birth attendant (SBA) services mediated by factors of women's empowerment and sociodemographic characteristics using a path analysis through a structural equation (SEM) modelling approach.
Methods: A sample of 4946 mothers from the most recent Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey of 2017-18 was used in the SEM analysis. Accessing SBA service at childbirth was operationalized as utilizing SBA during last childbirth.

Background: Experiencing gender-based violence (GBV) is common among refugees. Intersecting systems of oppression can increase the risk of GBV and of suffering detrimental consequences, while concurrently creating barriers to meaningful support. Despite this, refugees with lived experience of GBV are rarely involved in the development, planning and adaptation of services and policies.

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a digital empowerment-based intervention in reducing symptoms of depression among IPV-exposed pregnant women.
Study Design: This intervention study was nested within a cohort study conducted in Denmark and Spain.

Women's empowerment has been promoted by researchers and development practitioners as one of the most promising strategies to address widespread hunger and malnutrition. However, the relationship between women's empowerment and dietary diversity and child nutrition has rarely been studied among vulnerable populations or individuals at greater risk of poor physical and social health status. Moreover, the effects of different domains of women's empowerment on nutritional outcomes, including dietary diversity and child anthropometry, have rarely been examined, especially with panel data.

Cardiometabolic syndrome (CMS), type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and cardiovascular diseases are among the major altruists to the international liability of disease. The lifestyle and dietary changes attributable to economic growth have resulted in an epidemiological transition towards non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as the leading causes of death. Low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) bear a more substantial disease burden due to limited healthcare sector capacities to address the rapidly growing number of chronic disease patients.

Purpose: To explore the effects of the Personalized Citizen Assistance for Social Participation (APIC), an intervention adapted here for visual impairment, involving weekly stimulation sessions over six to twelve months, provided by trained and supervised attendants, on seven outcomes (social participation, leisure, independence, mobility, quality of life, health-related quality of life, and empowerment) in older adults with visual impairment, and to document its facilitators and barriers.
Methods: A mixed-method design, which included a pre-experimental and an exploratory qualitative clinical research component, was used on 8 older adults (7 women) with visual impairment aged 70-86, and 8 attendants (5 women) aged 20-74. Before the intervention, directly after, and four months later, older adults completed questionnaires on the 7 outcomes.

Poverty and economic insecurity are driving forces in entering sex work among women in low resource areas. This increases their risk for HIV by influencing the decision-making process for high-risk behaviors. Few studies examine financial behaviors and capacities of women engaged in sex work (WESW).
