After the control policies of the COVID-19 epidemic were lifted in China from December 5th, 2022, there was an increase in the demand for hemodialysis and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) at our center, and patients experienced hypercoagulable blood states more frequently. This study aimed to investigate the effect of COVID-19 on extracorporeal coagulation during CRRT. All CRRT records were gathered from the Hemodialysis Center at our hospital from December 5th, 2022 to February 4th, 2023, and analyzed the incidence and risk factors associated with extracorporeal coagulation.

Article Synopsis
  • Ureteroscopy (URS) and retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) are minimally invasive procedures for kidney stones but can lead to significant postoperative pain, traditionally managed with opioids.
  • Due to the risks of opioid abuse and addiction, many healthcare facilities are seeking safer alternatives for pain management, prompting this study to compare opioid and opioid-free regimens.
  • The analysis of 10 studies indicates that opioid-free pain management leads to fewer emergency department visits and less opioid use at discharge, suggesting it may be a more effective approach post-surgery.

Aortic aneurysm (AA) is an aortic disease with a high mortality rate, and other than surgery no effective preventive or therapeutic treatment have been developed. The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is an important endocrine system that regulates vascular health. The ACE2/Ang-(1-7)/MasR axis can antagonize the adverse effects of the activation of the ACE/Ang II/AT1R axis on vascular dysfunction, atherosclerosis, and the development of aneurysms, thus providing an important therapeutic target for the prevention and treatment of AA.

Kidney Stone Disease (KSD) constitutes a multifaceted disorder, emerging from a confluence of environmental and genetic determinants, and is characterized by a high frequency of occurrence and recurrence. Our objective is to elucidate potential causative proteins and identify prospective pharmacological targets within the context of KSD. This investigation harnessed the unparalleled breadth of plasma protein and KSD pooled genome-wide association study (GWAS) data, sourced from the United Kingdom Biobank Pharma Proteomics Project (UKBPPP) and the FinnGen database version R10.

The objective of this study was to perform a comprehensive pooled analysis aimed at comparing the efficacy and safety of percutaneous ablation (PCA) versus minimally invasive partial nephrectomy (MIPN), including robotic and laparoscopic approaches, in patients diagnosed with cT1 renal tumors. We conducted a comprehensive search across four major electronic databases: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library, targeting studies published in English up to April 2024. The primary outcomes evaluated in this analysis included perioperative outcomes, functional outcomes, and oncological outcomes.

Bladder cancer (BC) is the tenth most common cancer globally, predominantly affecting men. Early detection and treatment are crucial due to high recurrence rates and poor prognosis for advanced stages. Traditional diagnostic methods like cystoscopy and imaging have limitations, leading to the exploration of noninvasive methods such as liquid biopsy.

Department of Urology, Lanzhou University Second Hospital, Lanzhou 730000, PR China; Gansu Province Clinical Research Center for Urology, Lanzhou 730000, PR China. Electronic address:

Bladder cancer (BC) is ranked as the ninth most common malignancy worldwide, with approximately 570,000 new cases reported annually and over 200,000 deaths. Cystoscopy remains the gold standard for the diagnosis of BC, however, its invasiveness, cost, and discomfort have driven the demand for the development of non-invasive, cost-effective alternatives. Nuclear matrix protein 22 (NMP22) is a promising non-invasive diagnostic tool, having received FDA approval.

Introduction: Angiomyoadenomatous tumor as a nosological entity is not included in the latest version of the International Histological Classification of Kidney Tumors (WHO, 2022) and is related to provisional entity. Currently, there is no consensus among researchers about the nosological affiliation of an angiomyoadenomatous tumor.

Aim: To comparatively analyze the histological, immunophenotypic, ultrastructural and molecular parameters of renal angiomyoadenomatous tumor and clear cell papillary renal cell tumor.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is associated with a high mortality rate. Pathologically, renal ischemia/reperfusion injury (RIRI) is one of the primary causes of AKI, and hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α may play a defensive role in RIRI. This study assessed the role of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α)-mediated mitophagy in protection against RIRI and .

Introduction: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is considered the gold standard treatment for kidney stones greater than 20 mm. However, retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) may achieve the same stone-free rate with repeated procedures, and potentially fewer complications. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of PCNL and two-staged RIRS.

Bladder cancer (BC) is a common malignant tumor of the urinary system. While current approaches involving adjuvant chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy have shown significant progress in BC treatment, challenges, such as recurrence and drug resistance, persist, especially in the case of muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). It is mainly due to the lack of pre-existing immune response cells in the tumor immune microenvironment.
