Background: The efficacy of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) for treating shoulder calcific tendinitis can be influenced by various prognostic factors. This study aimed to identify prognostic factors associated with the failure of ESWT for symptom relief and to evaluate the predictive capability of the eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithm of artificial intelligence techniques in this context.
Methods: This retrospective study enrolled patients with persistent shoulder pain attributed to calcific tendinitis who underwent ESWT after failed conservative treatment between January 1998 and December 2022.

Osteoporosis (OP) is a chronic inflammatory bone disease characterized by reduced bone structure and strength, leading to increased fracture risk. Effective therapies targeting both bone and cartilage are limited. This study compared the therapeutic effects of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), bisphosphonate (Aclasta), and human Wharton jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (WJMSCs) in a rat model of OP.

Importance: Aortic stenosis (AS) and coronary artery disease (CAD) frequently coexist. However, it is unknown which genetic and cardiovascular risk factors might be AS-specific and which could be shared between AS and CAD.
Objective: To identify genetic risk loci and cardiovascular risk factors with AS-specific associations.

Background: We investigated whether shock wave (SW)-pretreated autologous adipocyte-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) seeded in the cell-sheet scaffold (CSS) could inhibit left ventricular (LV) remodeling and improve LV ejection fraction (LVEF) in old myocardial infarction (MI).
Methods: Mini-pigs ( n =20) were divided into group 1 (sham-operated control), group 2 (old MI), group 3 (old MI + autologous ADMSCs/1.0×10 7 in CSS on LV myocardium), and group 4 [old MI + SW (0.

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a debilitating condition that results in severe motor function impairments. Current therapeutic options remain limited, underscoring the need for novel treatments. Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) has emerged as a promising noninvasive approach for treating musculoskeletal disorders and nerve regeneration.

Background: This study tested whether combined dapagliflozin (DAPA) and roxadustat (ROX) therapy was superior to a singular therapy in protecting heart and kidney functions in rats with cardiorenal syndrome (CRS).
Methods And Results: An in vitro study demonstrated that the cell survival (PI3K/Akt/mTOR)/cell stress (ERK1/2, JNK/p-38) signaling was significantly activated by combination therapy with ROX-DAPA (all p<0.001).

Background: Diabetes contributes to a spectrum of complications encompassing microvascular and macrovascular disorders. This study aimed to explore the correlation between distal sensorimotor polyneuropathy (DSPN) severity and heightened carotid atherosclerosis among individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) Method: Participants underwent comprehensive assessments including nerve conduction studies (NCS), Toronto Clinical Neuropathy Score (TCNS) evaluations, assessment of cardiometabolic risk factors, and carotid sonography studies covering dynamic and morphological parameters. The resistance index (RI), pulsatility index (PI), peak systolic velocity (PSV), and end-diastolic velocity (EDV) in both the common carotid artery (CCA) and internal carotid artery (ICA), carotid intima-media thickness (IMT), and carotid plaque score (CPS) were also measured.

Background: Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is the primary treatment for calcific tendinitis of the shoulders, but what are the effects of clinical, sonographic, and molecular markers following ESWT in treating calcific tendinitis of the shoulder?
Methods: Twenty-eight patients were categorized into radiodense and radiolucent subgroups. In addition, clinical assessments included the visual analogue scale (VAS), Constant-Murley (CM) score, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon (ASES) score, sonographic evaluation, and serum enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The participants completed a 1-year follow-up.

Diabetic nephropathy, a leading cause of end-stage renal disease, accounts for significant morbidity and mortality. It is characterized by microinflammation in the glomeruli and myofibroblast activation in the tubulointerstitium. Bunge, a traditional Chinese medicine, is shown to possess anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic properties, implying its renal-protective potential.

This study tested the hypothesis that empagliflozin (EMPA) therapy effectively protected renal and heart functions via downregulating reactive oxygen species (ROS) and activating AMPK signaling in cardiorenal syndrome (CRS) (induced by doxorubicin-5/6 nephrectomy) rats. In vitro result showed that underwent p-Cresol treatment, the H9C2/NRK-52E cell viabilities, were significantly suppressed, whereas cellular levels of ROS and early/late apoptosis of these cells were significantly increased that were significantly reversed by EMPA treatment (all p < 0.001).

Background: This study investigates whether phloretin, a brain-edema inhibitor, can enhance the therapeutic effects of human-derived platelet-rich plasma (hPRP) in reducing brain hemorrhagic volume (BHV) and preserving neurological function in rodents following acute traumatic brain damage (TBD)
Methods: Forty rats were divided into five groups: sham-control, TBD, TBD + phloretin (80 mg/kg/dose intraperitoneally at 30 minutes and on days 2/3 post-TBD), TBD + hPRP (80μL by left intra-carotid-artery injection at 3 hours post-TBD), and TBD + phloretin + hPRP. Cerebral tissues were harvested on day 28 post-TBD for analysis.
Results: Brain MRI on day 28 showed the lowest BHV in the sham-control group and the highest in the TBD group.

Background: The study investigates the combined efficacy of subacromial hyaluronic acid (HA) injections and extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) in managing rotator cuff lesions without complete tears.
Materials And Methods: Eligible patients were randomized into three groups: three HA injections combined with two sham ESWT (HA), three HA injections combined with one ESWT and one sham ESWT (HA + 1 ESWT), or three HA injections combined with two ESWT (HA + 2 ESWT) with an allocation ratio of 1:1:1. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Constant-Murley Score (CMS), range of motion (ROM), and muscle power of shoulder abduction (MP) were assessed preintervention and at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months postinitial HA injection.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent musculoskeletal disease affecting middle-aged and elderly individuals, with knee pain as a common complaint. Standard therapy approaches generally attempt to alleviate pain and inflammation, using various pharmacological and non-pharmacological options. However, the efficacy of these therapies in long-term tissue repair remains debated.
