Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers found in women worldwide. Besides the availability of clinical drugs, drug resistance and considerable side effects are concerning issues driven the needs for the discovery of novel anticancer agents. Aromatase inhibition is one of the effective strategies for management of hormone-dependent breast cancer.

Aim: To characterize real-world healthcare resource utilization (HCRU) and costs in adults with chronic pain of peripheral nerve origin treated with peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) using the micro-implantable pulse generator (IPG).
Materials & Methods: This retrospective observational study (9/1/19-1/31/23) linked patients from the Nalu medical database to the OM1 Real-World Data Cloud (RWDC). Eligible patients received the micro-IPG implant for PNS, were identifiable in both databases, and had ≥ 12 months of RWDC pre/post-implantation claims data.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the accumulation of tau protein tangles and amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques in the central nervous system (CNS), leading to progressive neurodegeneration. Hence, the discovery of disease-modifying agents capable of delaying the progression is essential for effective management. Aminonaphthoquinone (ANQ) is an attractive pharmacophore with various biological effects.

The accurate prediction of particulate matter ( ) levels, an indicator of natural pollutants such as those resulting from dust storms, is crucial for public health and environmental planning. This study aims to provide accurate forecasts of over Morocco for 5 days. The analog ensemble (AnEn) and the bias correction (AnEnBc) techniques were employed to post-process forecasts produced by the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) global atmospheric composition forecasts, using CAMS reanalysis data as a reference.

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combining androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) in the treatment of localized prostate cancer.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 30 patients treated with SBRT for localized prostate cancer at Cheikh Khalifa Hospital between 2017 and 2022. All patients presented with intermediate prognostic risk prostate cancer, as classified by the D'Amico criteria.

AVPs, or antiviral peptides, are short chains of amino acids capable of inhibiting viral replication, preventing viral entry, or disrupting viral membranes. They represent a promising area of research for developing new antiviral therapies due to their potential to target a broad spectrum of viruses, incorporating those resistant to traditional antiviral drugs. However, traditional experimental methods for identifying AVPs are often costly and labour-intensive.

This study examines the effects of environmental conditions on venom production in four prevalent scorpion species in Morocco: Androctonus amoreuxi, Androctonus mauretanicus, Buthus mardochei, and Scorpio maurus. The research focuses on how climatic factors such as temperature, humidity, and diet-specifically mealworm consumption-affect physical parameters including size and weight, and ultimately venom yield. We conducted a comprehensive investigation involving the capture, acclimatization, and systematic venom extraction from 480 scorpions.

We describe cases with monkeypox virus (MPXV) Clade Ib in Burundi from their first detection in July until 20 August 2024. Testing 442 people with vesicular lesions confirmed 170 cases (98 male; 72 female), 82 (48%) being < 15 years old. Differential diagnosis of the first 30 individuals testing MPXV negative revealed chickenpox in 20.

During the 3 years following the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the African continent, like other regions of the world, was substantially impacted by COVID-19. In Morocco, the COVID-19 pandemic has been marked by the emergence and spread of several SARS-CoV-2 variants, leading to a substantial increase in the incidence of infections and deaths. Nevertheless, the comprehensive understanding of the genetic diversity, evolution, and epidemiology of several viral lineages remained limited in Morocco.

Contamination of black pepper (Piper nigrum) with Salmonella is a frequent problem in retail and imported shipments. However, there is scarce information about the prevalence of the pathogen in the initial stages of black pepper production chain. This study sought to bridge this gap in research by determining the prevalence, as well as quantifying, and identifying the main Salmonella serovars present during black pepper primary production and processing.

Paraquat (PQ) is a highly toxic herbicide that has been prohibited in almost 70 countries, but remains in use worldwide. Thus, routine on-site PQ monitoring is a key mechanism to ensure safety and efficiently enforce regulations. Herein, a label-free portable electrochemical aptasensor for the detection of PQ was developed by utilizing aptamer designed to specifically recognize PQ.

Mutations in glucokinase (GCK) can either enhance or inhibit insulin secretion, leading to different forms of diabetes, including gestational diabetes. While many glucokinase activators (GKAs) have been explored as treatments, their long-term effectiveness has often been unsatisfactory. However, recent interest has surged with the introduction of dorzagliatin and TTP399.

Epigenetics involves reversible modifications in gene expression without altering the genetic code itself. Among these modifications, histone deacetylases (HDACs) play a key role by removing acetyl groups from lysine residues on histones. Overexpression of HDACs is linked to the proliferation and survival of tumor cells.

Oocyte activation is a fundamental event in mammalian fertilization and is initiated by a cascade of calcium signaling and oscillation pathways. Phospholipase C zeta (PLCζ) is involved in modulating cortical granule exocytosis, releasing oocyte meiotic arrest, regulating gene expression, and early embryogenesis. These processes are considered to be initiated and controlled by PLCζ activity via the inositol-1,4,5-triphosphate pathway.
