Methodology: This cross-sectional study included 1,067 respiratory patients who were surveyed between November 2021 and June 2022 at the Institute for Pulmonary Diseases of Vojvodina (Serbia).

Pancreatic transplantation is an established treatment for patients with type 1 diabetes patients and select type 2 diabetes patients, with excellent survival rates as graft health is evaluated through regular imaging and early detection of complications. Amongst the various imaging methods that may aid in diagnosis of pancreatic transplant complications, ultrasound is a widely available, quick, portable, and cost-effective technique, often used as the sole method to assess for pancreatic transplant complications. When assessing a patient with a pancreatic transplant, the radiologist should be methodical in assessing the vasculature, the pancreatic parenchyma, and the peripancreatic regions.

Genome-Wide Profiling of Endogenous Single-Stranded DNA Using the SSiNGLe-P1 Method.

Endogenous single-stranded DNA (essDNA) can form in a mammalian genome as the result of a variety of molecular processes and can both play important roles inside the cell as well as have detrimental consequences to genome integrity, much of which remains to be fully understood. Here, we established the SSiNGLe-P1 approach based on limited digestion by P1 endonuclease for high-throughput genome-wide identification of essDNA regions. We applied this method to profile essDNA in both human mitochondrial and nuclear genomes.

Managing Complications Related to Peripheral Nerve Surgery: Selected Illustrative Cases.

Peripheral nerve surgery mostly involves elective procedures; thus, the associated complications are of great clinical, social, and medicolegal importance. Apart from the general perioperative morbidity, complications during interventions on peripheral nerves are extremely rare. However, iatrogenic peripheral nerve injuries during unrelated surgical procedures performed by those not specialised in peripheral nerve surgery remain the most significant group of complications, accounting for up to approximately 17% of all cases.

[Isolated endovascular liver chemoperfusion for liver metastases of uveal melanoma].

Isolated hepatic perfusion is one of the possible approaches for unresectable liver metastases of uveal melanoma. This technique is rare in modern oncology because of extremely difficult technique and high risk of intra- and postoperative complications. Thus, minimizing surgical trauma and increasing safety and reproducibility of this technique are important.

Successful Hybrid Approach Treatment of a Large Persistent Sciatic Artery Aneurysm-A Case Report.

: Persistent sciatic artery (PSA) is a rare congenital vascular anomaly that is often asymptomatic, but can be associated with aneurysm formation and potential complications, such as thromboembolism or aneurysm rupture in some cases. We present a case of a 75-year-old woman with a symptomatic thrombus-containing aneurysm of the left PSA. : The treatment of the PSA aneurysm involved a successful hybrid approach, which included open surgical bypass and endovascular embolization.

[Questionnaire Survey of Hands-on Seminar Using a Web Conferencing System in the COVID-19 Pandemic].

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a hands-on seminar using a Web conferencing system, based on the post-event questionnaires of the face-to-face and online seminars of the hands-on seminar. For participants to feel realistic training in the online seminars, four educational videos explaining the procedure of the practical skill were created. We compared results of questionnaires acquired from participants after the face-to-face and online seminars.

Cardiomyopathies represent significant contributors to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Over the past decades, a progress has occurred in characterization of the genetic background and major pathophysiological mechanisms, which has been incorporated into a more nuanced diagnostic approach and risk stratification. Furthermore, medications targeting core disease processes and/or their downstream adverse effects have been introduced for several cardiomyopathies.

Achalasia Subtype Differences Based on Respiratory Symptoms and Radiographic Findings.

Three subtypes of achalasia have been defined using esophageal manometry. Several studies have reported that symptoms are experienced differently among men and women, regardless of subtype. All subtypes could have some impact on the appearance of respiratory symptoms and lung complications due to compression of the trachea or aspiration of undigested food.

To evaluate the image quality (IQ) of advanced modeled iterative reconstruction (ADMIRE; Siemens Healthcare, Forchheim, Germany) applying image texture and image visual impression as a supplement to physical parameters such as noise level and spatial resolution. An ACR-phantom with four modules was examined at different radiation dose levels. To characterise the image texture, two Haralick texture parameters, contrast and entropy, were assessed at different dose levels and reconstruction algorithms.

Background Neurocysticercosis is significant due to its high prevalence and considerable morbidity and mortality. The intraventricular form of NCC is less common than parenchymal, may have a rapidly progressive course and it requires a corresponding therapeutic response. Despite the extensive literature dealing with NCC and intraventricular cystic lesions, no systematic reviews have addressed similar work related to the clinical course and treatment of the infestation.

Tibial Slope on Conventional Lateral Radiographs in Anterior Cruciate Ligament-Injured and Intact Knees: Mean Value and Outliers.

Background: An increased tibial slope (TS) has been identified as a risk factor for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and graft failure after ACL reconstruction. However, different imaging modalities are used to determine the TS, resulting in divergent values. Consequently, no reference values and no consensus on thresholds can be reached, which in turn is mandatory for indicating correction osteotomies when facing outlier TS.

: Aesthetic surgery procedures are generally done in a relatively healthy population and carry a rather low risk compared to other surgical specialties. The incidence of complications in aesthetic surgery varies greatly depending on the type, wound cleanliness regarding the anatomical site, complexity of the surgery, patient's age, and comorbidities but is generally considered low. The overall incidence of surgical site infections (SSIs) in all aesthetic surgical procedures is around 1% in most of the literature while cases of necrotizing soft tissue infections are mostly found as individual reports.

Liver resection versus transarterial chemoembolisation for the treatment of intermediate hepatocellular carcinoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) is the primary treatment for intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), according to the updated Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) staging system. Although growing evidence favours liver resection (LR) over TACE for intermediate-stage HCC, the best treatment option remains controversial. This meta-analysis aimed to compare the overall survival (OS) after LR versus TACE for intermediate-stage HCC.

A Surrogate Endpoint for Overall Survival in Locally Advanced and Resectable Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Reanalysis of Data From the NEOCRTEC5010 Trial.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate disease-free survival (DFS) as a surrogate endpoint for overall survival (OS) in patients with locally advanced and resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Methods And Materials: We re-analyzed patient data from the NEOCRTEC5010 randomized controlled trial (N = 451 patients) to compare their OS with that of an age- and sex-matched cohort from the general population of China. We used expected survival and the standardized mortality ratio, respectively, in our analysis of data collected from a neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (NCRT) plus surgery group and a surgery-only group.

Myocardial infarction (MI) may be visible on contrast-enhanced multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) scans of the abdomen. In the previous literature, potentially missed MI in abdominal MDCTs was not perceived as an issue in radiology. This retrospective single-center study assessed the frequency of detectable myocardial hypoperfusion in contrast-enhanced abdominal MDCTs.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) could be the cause of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and sudden cardiac death. Clinical presentations can vary considerably, but the most common is the elevation of cardiac biomarkers associated with chest discomfort. Different pathological etiology in comparison with Type 1 AMI is the underlying infarct size in this population.

Objectives: To compare metal artifacts and evaluation of metal artifact reduction algorithms during probe positioning in computed tomography (CT)-guided microwave ablation (MWA), cryoablation (CRYO), and radiofrequency ablation (RFA).

Materials And Methods: Using CT guidance, individual MWA, CRYO, and RFA ablation probes were placed into the livers of 15 pigs. CT imaging was then performed to determine the probe's position within the test subject's liver.

Introduction: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with its innovative techniques, such as diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), increases the diagnostic accuracy in distinguishing between malignant and benign lesions of the endometrium. The aim of the study was MRI differentiation between malignant and benign endometrial lesions and correlation with histopathological findings with a special emphasis on quantitative analysis. An additional aim was to correlate the ADC values and histological tumor grades.

Imaging spectrum of non-neoplastic and neoplastic conditions of the duodenum: a pictorial review.

Given its crucial location at the crossroads of the gastrointestinal tract, the hepatobiliary system and the splanchnic vessels, the duodenum can be affected by a wide spectrum of abnormalities. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, in conjunction with endoscopy, are often performed to evaluate these conditions, and several duodenal pathologies can be identified on fluoroscopic studies. Since many conditions affecting this organ are asymptomatic, the role of imaging cannot be overemphasized.
