Hybrid naphthalenediimide/zinc phosphonate materials (NDI/Zn) were prepared by mixing solutions of ,'-bis(2-phosphonoethyl)-1,4,5,8-naphthalenediimide (PNDI) and zinc nitrate, resulting in the precipitation of the desired compounds. Samples precipitated from water and ,-dimethylformamide (DMF) were produced. Copper(II) complexes are interesting for cancer treatment due to their unique properties, including their redox potential, possible coordination structures with different ligands, the most diverse geometries, and different biomolecule reactivity. The present work synthesized new copper(II) complexes with Schiff-base (imine) type ligands using natural aldehydes such as cinnamaldehyde, vanillin, or ethyl vanillin. The ligands were obtained through the reaction of these aldehydes with the amines 1,3-diaminopropane, 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine, or 1,3-diamino-2-propanol and characterized by H and C NMR, FTIR and ESI-HRMS.

Objectives: To assess the effect of an experimental 58S bioactive glass on dentin permeability (dP) and erosive tooth wear (dentin surface loss - dSL).

Methods: 58S bioactive glass was synthetized using a sol-gel methodology, following by lyophilization and calcination, then mixed with phosphoric acid to obtain a paste (BGP). Forty-eight dentin disks (1 mm-thick) were used for dP, and 48 dentin slabs (3 mm × 3 mm) for dSL, which were assessed at three time intervals: post-EDTA (5 min in 17% EDTA solution); post-treatment (C: distilled water; BGP: experimental bioactive glass paste; NP: Nupro prophylaxis paste; CXT: Clinpro XT varnish); and post-erosive/abrasive cycling.

This is a cross-sectional study with data and biological material collection from vineyard farmers in southern Brazil. An interview was carried out through a questionnaire developed according to the reference guide of the state government. This study aimed to evaluate in vitro and in vivo polymeric membranes obtained by a rotary jet-spinning process for the repair of critical bone defects in the calvaria of Wistar rats, for future use in tissue engineering. Experimental sample collections were performed on the 30, 60 and 90th postoperative days, and the analyses performed were histomorphometric, immunohistochemistry, and western blotting. Reducing inflammatory infiltrate in all groups and experimental periods, angiogenesis on the 30th day did not show any difference between the groups, on the 60th day, 5% polycaprolactone/beta-tricalcium phosphate(PCL/β-TCP) was high compared to control (C), and on the 90th day, the same group reduced when compared to C and 10% PCL/β-TCP.

The cellular prion protein (PrP) is anchored in the plasma membrane of cells, and it is highly present in cells of brain tissue, exerting numerous cellular and cognitive functions. The present study proves the importance of PrP in the cellular defense mechanism and metal homeostasis in astrocytes cells. Through experimental studies using cell lines of immortalized mice astrocytes (wild type and knockout for PrP), we showed that PrPc is involved in the apoptosis cell death process by the activation of Caspase 3, downregulation of p53, and cell cycle maintenance.
