Objective: In a recent trial, moral reconation therapy (MRT)-a cognitive-behavioral intervention for criminal recidivism-was not more effective than usual care (UC) for veterans in behavioral health treatment. To determine for whom treatments of recidivism are most effective, we tested if recency of criminal history or psychopathic traits moderated MRT's effects on outcomes.
Method: In a multisite trial, 341 veterans (95.

The importance of patients' trust in health care is well known. However, identifying actionable access barriers to trust is challenging. The goal of these exploratory analyses is to identify actionable access barriers that correlate with and predict patients' lack of trust in providers and in the health care system.

There is a critical need to improve linkage to alcohol care for veterans in primary care with hazardous drinking and PTSD and/or depression symptoms (A-MH). We adapted an alcohol care linkage intervention, "Connect to Care" (C2C), for this population. We conducted separate focus groups with veterans with A-MH, providers, and policy leaders.

Predicting treatment response can inform treatment decisions, expectations, and optimize use of mental health treatment resources. This study examined heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV), and a modified Stroop task (mStroop) to predict post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment response. We report on an observational, longitudinal study with 45 U.

Background: Higher doses of opioids, mental health comorbidities, co-prescription of sedatives, lower socioeconomic status and a history of opioid overdose have been reported as risk factors for opioid overdose; however, the magnitude of these associations and their credibility are unclear. We sought to identify predictors of fatal and nonfatal overdose from prescription opioids.
Methods: We systematically searched MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO and Web of Science up to Oct.

Background: Client discontinuation from outpatient addiction treatment programs is common, and the initial intake is the service delivery point with the highest attrition rate. Replacing the comprehensive intake assessment with a person-centered Motivational Interviewing (MI) intervention is a potential solution to address provider and client concerns about the disengaging, time-intensive nature of the typical initial intake. It remains unclear whether the use of an alternative to the standard intake at the initial visit can fit within typical organizational reporting requirements, whether it decreases attrition, and whether implementation of person-centered intake procedures within outpatient addiction treatment programs is feasible, acceptable, and can be sustained.

Background And Objectives: The RE-AIM (Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance) framework was used to describe the implementation of the Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths, and Injuries (STEADI) Initiative (2018-2021) for screening and assessing all older adults ≥65 years for falls risk across 34 outpatient rehabilitation clinics within a large health system.
Research Design And Methods: We described the Implementation process and strategies. Using Electronic Health Records (EHRs), we identified Reach, Adoption, and Maintenance of screenings and physical assessments to identify fall risk among older adults.

Background: Social media is used as a source of information and platform to discuss health care; however, there is little research on discussion of telehealth in social media. Past research has looked at individual platforms, but a comparison of discussion on two platforms (Reddit and Twitter) has not been performed. Understanding telehealth-related social media discourse and the differences between platforms may provide insights into how telehealth is characterized online and which platforms provide patient perspectives.

Background: In studies of the general population and of military veterans, many primary care patients with hazardous drinking and PTSD and/or depression (abbreviated here as HD +) do not initiate or engage with alcohol-related care. To address this gap in care, we identified and will pilot test a promising evidence-based intervention, Connect To Care (C2C). C2C is a strengths-based approach, delivered by a Care Coach by telephone and/or video, with four components: (1) identifying and leveraging patient strengths to facilitate care initiation, (2) collaborative decision-making around a menu of care options, (3) identifying and resolving barriers to care, and (4) monitoring and facilitating progress toward care initiation by, for example, checking on barriers, identifying solutions, and revisiting care options.

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly altered the way in which health care is delivered, challenging providers, and systems of care to innovate to maintain access to services. This article describes the delivery of mental health services during the pandemic in two Veterans Health Administration (VHA) regions that include 15 hospitals and over 100 outpatient facilities in the southern United States. Data were derived from (a) a survey of provider perspectives ( = 1,175) on delivering mental health care prior to and during the pandemic and (b) VHA administrative data on mental health service delivery.

Introduction: Behavioral health treatment disparities by race and ethnicity are well documented across the criminal legal system. Despite criminal legal settings such as drug treatment courts (DTCs) increasingly adopting evidence-based programs (EBPs) to improve care, there is a dearth of research identifying strategies to advance equitable implementation of EBPs and reduce racial/ethnic treatment disparities. This paper describes an innovative approach to identify community- and provider-generated strategies to support equitable implementation of an evidence-based co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder intervention, called Maintaining Independence and Sobriety through Systems Integration, Outreach and Networking-Criminal Justice (MISSION-CJ), in DTCs.

Background: Marshallese and Hispanic communities in the United States have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19. Identifying strategies to reach late vaccine adopters is critical for ongoing and future vaccination efforts. We utilized a community-engaged approach that leveraged an existing community-based participatory research collaborative of an academic healthcare organization and Marshallese and Hispanic faith-based organizations (FBO) to host vaccination events.

Background: As implementation scientists and practitioners engage community members and service users, reflexivity rises as a critical approach for managing power imbalances and effective collaborative work to promote equity. Reflexivity is an approach for acknowledging scientists' own positions, including their understanding and limits of how they view their phenomena of inquiry. We describe our perspective practicing reflexivity as an implementation science team new to community engagement.

Almost 40% of US adults provide informal caregiving, yet research gaps remain around what burdens affect informal caregivers. This study uses a novel social media site, Reddit, to mine and better understand what online communities focus on as their caregiving burdens. These forums were accessed using an application programming interface, a machine learning classifier was developed to remove low information posts, and topic modeling was applied to the corpus.
