Background: Pregnancy, a transformative phase, is often fraught with considerable psychological stress. Within the context of Chinese culture, characterized by intricate family dynamics, societal expectations, and deeply rooted traditional beliefs, the manifestation of stress during pregnancy may present with distinct nuances. The adaptation and validation of the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) for the Chinese context are pivotal for a nuanced understanding and effective intervention for the stressors encountered by pregnant women in China.

Background: With the rapid development of the Internet and the widespread use of social media, online public opinion has profoundly impacted the psychology and behavior of college students. College students are in a crucial stage of psychological development and self-awareness, making them highly sensitive to online information and easily influenced by online public opinion.
Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design to explore the psychological adaptation and behavioral responses of college students to online public opinion.

Drug-induced photosensitivity is a potential adverse event of many drugs and chemicals used across a wide range of specialties in clinical medicine. In the present study, we investigated the feasibility of predicting the photosensitising effects of drugs and chemical compounds via state-of-the-art artificial intelligence-based workflows. A dataset of 2200 drugs was used to train three distinct models (logistic regression, XGBoost and a deep learning model (Chemprop)) to predict photosensitising attributes.

Humans are constantly exposed to low doses of various metals and organic compounds in electronic waste (e-waste) recycling areas. Although these substances individually have been identified as environmental carcinogens that influence the onset and progression of tumors, their combined effect on human cancers has not been sufficiently investigated. For this reason, the goal of the current analysis is to evaluate the possible molecular mechanisms between exposure to a mixture of As, Cd, Cr, Hg, Pb, Sb, DBDE, DBDPE, and TBBPA from e-waste and the onset and progression of common human cancers via in silico toxicogenomic tools.

Background: The prevalence of depression among adolescents has been gradually increasing with the COVID-19 pandemic, and the purpose of this study was to develop and validate logistic regression models to predict the likelihood of depression among 6-17 year olds.
Methods: We screened participants from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) in 2022. Independent risk factors were identified via univariate logistic regression analyses and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) for feature screening.

FOXP3 regulatory T cells (Treg cells) are key for immune homeostasis. Here, we reveal that nuclear receptor corepressor 1 (NCOR1) controls naïve and effector Treg cell states. Upon NCOR1 deletion in T cells, effector Treg cell frequencies were elevated in mice and in in vitro-generated human Treg cells.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects more women than men worldwide, however, men comprise the majority of patients who receive kidney replacement therapy. We aimed to describe the perspectives of patients and their caregivers regarding gender disparities in CKD.
Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 45 patients with CKD (20 women) and 14 caregivers (12 women) from seven clinics in Austria.

Although extracorporeal membrane ventilation offers the possibility for low-frequency ventilation, protocols commonly used in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and treated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) vary largely. Whether strict adherence to low-frequency ventilation offers benefit on important outcome measures is poorly understood. : This pilot clinical study investigated the efficacy of low-frequency ventilation on ventilator-free days (VFDs) in patients suffering from ARDS who were treated with ECMO therapy.

Aims: The paediatric trigger thumb is a distinct clinical entity with unique anatomical abnormalities. The aim of this study was to present the long-term outcomes of A1 pulley release in idiopathic paediatric trigger thumbs based on established patient-reported outcome measures.
Methods: This study was a cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study conducted at a tertiary care orthopaedic centre.

Secondary prevention is crucial for reducing morbidity and mortality in patients following acute myocardial infraction (MI). However, adherence to cardiac rehabilitation (CR) and pharmacotherapy remains suboptimal despite strong guideline recommendations. This study investigated the adherence to CR, dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT), and statins following acute MI and evaluated their impact on patient outcomes from a nationwide perspective in Austria.

A common problem in clinical trials is to test whether the effect of an explanatory variable on a response of interest is similar between two groups, for example, patient or treatment groups. In this regard, similarity is defined as equivalence up to a pre-specified threshold that denotes an acceptable deviation between the two groups. This issue is typically tackled by assessing if the explanatory variable's effect on the response is similar.

Background: The incidence of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in children is increasing globally. Due to the immature immune system in children, the prognosis of DLBCL is quite different from that of adults. We aim to use the multicenter large retrospective analysis for prognosis study of the disease.

: Early detection of traumatic brain injury (TBI) is crucial for minimizing secondary neurological damage. Our study aimed to assess the potential of IL-4, IL-6, IL-7, IL-8, IL-10, TNF, and eotaxin serum levels-as a single clinical tool or combined into a panel-for diagnosing TBI in multiple injured patients. Out of 110 prospectively enrolled polytrauma victims (median age, 39 years; median ISS, 33; 70.

Background: This study investigated whether parathyroid hormone (PTH) lowering with etelcalcetide, and the consequent effects on mineral and bone metabolism, could improve serum calcification propensity (T50 time) and decrease calciprotein particle (CPP) load in hemodialysis patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism.
Methods: In this single-arm, prospective, dose-escalation proof-of-principle study, hemodialysis patients received etelcalcetide at 2.5 mg/dialysis session with increments of 2.

Introduction: Serum calcification propensity (T50 time) is associated with mortality in patients on dialysis. Several solitary interventions improve T50. However, whether a combination of interventions yields further increases in T50 is unknown.

Pro-inflammatory CD4 T cells are major drivers of autoimmune diseases, yet therapies modulating T cell phenotypes to promote an anti-inflammatory state are lacking. Here, we identify T helper 17 (T17) cell plasticity in the kidneys of patients with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated glomerulonephritis on the basis of single-cell (sc) T cell receptor analysis and scRNA velocity. To uncover molecules driving T cell polarization and plasticity, we established an in vivo pooled scCRISPR droplet sequencing (iCROP-seq) screen and applied it to mouse models of glomerulonephritis and colitis.

There has been a growing interest in covariate adjustment in the analysis of randomized controlled trials in past years. For instance, the US Food and Drug Administration recently issued guidance that emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between conditional and marginal treatment effects. Although these effects may sometimes coincide in the context of linear models, this is not typically the case in other settings, and this distinction is often overlooked in clinical trial practice.
