Background: There is strong evidence for a role of type 2 cytokines in the pathogenesis of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE); however, heterogeneity in type 2 gene expression has not been examined.
Objective: We examined type 2 immunity-associated gene expression in esophageal biopsy specimens, aiming to determine the degree of cytokine heterogeneity and its potential clinical significance.
Methods: Patients (n = 312) were recruited from 10 sites associated with the Consortium of Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease Researchers.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of newly diagnosed cases with EoE at the University of North Carolina from 2002 to 2018.

Objectives: Dietary elimination for treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is limited by lack of accuracy in current allergy tests. We aimed to develop an immunologic approach to identify dietary triggers and prospectively test allergen-specific immune signature-guided dietary elimination therapy.
Methods: In the first phase, we developed and assessed 2 methods for determining selected food triggers using samples from 24 adults with EoE: a CD4+ T-cell proliferation assay in peripheral blood and food-specific tissue IgG4 levels in esophageal biopsies.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and type 2B von Willebrand disease (vWD) are both rare diseases, and the co-occurrence is unlikely. Patients with EoE often need recurrent endoscopic dilations and esophageal biopsies, and the safety of these procedures in the setting of bleeding disorders is not well described in the literature. We describe successful management strategies in a patient with co-existing EoE and type 2B vWD who required multiple dilations and biopsies.
